At Last! Welcome back Sadgeezer thought wed lost you there….
Have you noticed there is a lot of licking going on in Lexx. Everytime someone wants to act a bit “sexy” they lick the cheek, forehead of their victim. Why is this? Is it quite normal to lick in Canada?
Or how about how Prince always sniffs people!? In an interview Nigel said that he thought that Prince should always smell people, so thats why Prince always sniffs at a first meeting. But I find that more weird then licking.
Some people smell nice, so its nice to smell them…Licking is always good
I suspect that the combination of licking and his lip ring were partly why Xev liked Prince so much
I think Zev’s licking of people is part of her Cluster lizard instincts. Maybe she’s seeing if they taste good. We know female Cluster lizards eat their mates after, er…mating. It’s entirely possible that licking is part of the Cluster lizard courtship ritual. There are a number of animals that smell potential mates to determine if they have genetic diseases, and this could also be true with Cluster lizards (reptiles on Earth smell with their tongues, remember?). And this could be retained in Zev, at least at a subconscious level.
That’s my take on the whole licking thing (at least with the lizard chick).
In one or two episodes Zev licks Kai’s cryopod. When I saw that I thought “y’know it’d be funny if the bitch got her tongue frozen to the glass.” Well, from reading the review for Vlad it seems just that happens to one of the Goth girls! Way to appeal to the audiences’ fantasies!
When I first saw this thread title I was afraid it would be about those toilets on the Lexx with tongues. *shudder*

as i recall a few of you made fun of me when i brought up that very topic a few weeks ago…yewwww! well, i dunno, haven’t licked or kissed any canadians lately now now aleck, at least dt didn’t refer to her as a ‘ho’ (i’m not sure that’s the right spelling for that particular slang)…and i have to admit, my gay friends got me into the habit of saying bitch quite casually, so i guess that particular phrase doesn’t bother me as much

Brian Downey certainly does a good job making Stan appear nerdy and repulsive when he’s hitting on women. For me, those have to be the most cringe inducing scenes in all of Lexx.
Maybe the world of Lexx is salt deprived and they are after the salt in the lickees juices. Let’s face it, the only way Stan ever does get a good tonguing is by licking his own lips!

Is that all? For me the most cringe-inducing scenes are in the episodes with Lauren Abrahams.

I mean, I shouldn’t be surprised. Twilight and P4X are both good plots, just some scenes in the episodes repulsed me. Like the Lyekka-Lomea thing, the prison shower, and the violent pornograpy scene. Others may not be affected in the same way by that kind of discord.
One of my quirks is having the strong compulsion to wash my hands (and sometimes the inside of my mouth) when I see or hear something bad. I’ve been doing it less since I switched medication and went on the Schwartz 4-step plan, though.

At this stage in the game, while I’m beginning work on uncut S3 discs, I’d say it’s a bit premature to guess.

I said I was sorry for taking us off topic. I didn’t think my post would affect the course of the thread. I was just responding to Jason’s post about being repulsed by the Stan seduction scenes.
I didn’t anticipate people being insulted by the fact that I was disgusted by certain scenes in certain episodes of Lexx (and it’s not just Lomea, that thing with the violent sex website thing at the end of P4X really made me cringe, and they showed WAY too much in that shower scene).
I didn’t say the episodes were bad. I thought maybe somebody would say like “yeah, I thought that was gross, to” but nothing major.And I never said my morality was superior to others’. I left all of that intact because I wanted to address several points simultaneously. Jason’s post was germaine to the topic at hand (licking). You replied, essentially, that you were surprised that Jason *only* found Stan’s seduction scenes that cringe-worthy (and your comment implied that there was something wrong in not finding the scenes you then mentioned repugnant). In doing so, you brought up specifically (and irrelevantly, I might add) that the most cringe-inducing scenes for you involved Lomea, and went into specific detail reagarding the homoerotic scene between Lomea and Lyekka, emphasizing that this scene was especially repugnant. You even emphasized that it was the homoerotic aspect of it that especially bothered you when you made reference to hoping that Lyekka would act like “a nice heterosexual plant.” I don’t think it’s reading too much into anything to say that your comments were indicative of homophobia (I’m not denying that you find *all* sexuality bothersome, but saying that homosexuality in particular seems to trouble you more than “straight” sexuality).
And you don’t have to come out and blatantly say that you find your own personal morality superior to others’. It’s obvious in your tone, in your syntax, and in the points you continually make. The fact that you are oblivious to the offensive and insulting remarks you make does not let you off the hook. The fact that you refuse to acknowledge these remarks and take steps to avoid being offensive and insulting is both damning and troubling. It indicates a deep sense of self-absorption and overblown sense of self-importance.

I think most people seem to have focused on Xevs licking habits but the others do it as well, see Vlad for instance. No Lizard in her but she likes to lick. So do others…why?
In Vlad’s case, I think the licking was just her “playing” with her prey before she destroyed them, kinda like the cat with the mouse….
In Xev’s case I think it’s just her sexuality coming out when she gets a little aroused or excited…..
In the case of Prince’s “sniffing” I think it’s his way of identifying the person now and in the future….. Or he may just have a sinus problem…
As I said, I don’t want another battle.
I haven’t seen Vlad yet. I don’t remember anybody but Zev ever licking people. It seems like a predation kind of thing, at least at a symbolic level.

Okay, that’s just weird.
Granted, I have created some odd science fiction situations, but that story is far beyond the scope of bizarreness my mind is capable of. I guess it isn’t really incredibly dirty, but whoever wrote it has some screws loose in their head.
