that’s the universal greeting used in the film ‘transformers: the movie’
pretty cool anime-type movie made in the mid 1980’s based on the transformers toy and tv series craze.
the phrase is most prominently used in the film by the junkions, a race of junk robots.
The lead junkion was voice acted by eric idle.
i’d wager anyone using that phrase is in their mid to late 20s.

Try early 20’s I was only born in ’79 (yes people keep reminding me I was born in the 70’s. Groovy man!). Transformers was my life back then.

it’s never actually explained in the movie, it was only implied that most races of alien robots(maybe non-robots also) understood that this was a greeting, no matter what their native language was.
I guess from its context it most likely means ‘hello’ but nobody knows for sure (unless its in some interview with a writer from the movie)
