Horror Sci Fi fantasy that you really shouldn’t watch on your own.

It’s not suspoensful, it’s just frighteningly gritty, weird and gross. The story is about a detective that has multiple personalities.

This show is the Japanese equivalent of Twin Peaks but while David Lynch may have a reputation for being a trifle eccentric, Miike Takashi is completely completely barking mad – and he’s not too impressed with dwarves either. This is the guy who did ‘Ichi the Killer’ and the haunting ‘Audition’

“There’s a feel strongly reminiscent of 70s psychedelia about this series. This is partly due to the music: two strangely hypnotic tunes that could have come out of early 70s San Francisco, from a supposed “failed rocker turned terrorist” Lucy Monostone. Lucy, it should be pointed out, is a bloke. He appears briefly towards the end of the series, but is present throughout: in the music, in posters on walls, in references to his followers.”

You should not watch this show alone. It’ll seriously freak you out. But it is very cool and you will feel that little bit more worldly having seen it. I can’t believe I just wrote that but erm… it’s true!

    A definate 8 out of 10.
