KeymasterThis is going to sound really mad, but I’ve just found out from grandmother what her surname was before she got married…it was McManus.
Now I know you are all gonna think Squish is off he’s rocker, but the reason I thought this was because I met up with one of my cousins several weeks ago, I hadn’t seen him since he was 12, he’s now 22, and I thought nothing of it at the time, but I’ve just seen photo’s of Michael McManus in England on Cat’s site, my cousin looks remarkably like Michael.
I asked my Gran if she’s ever been to the states, as it turns it she did live in Brooklyn NY when she was about 12 in the late 1940’s with an uncle and an aunt, one her many brother’s from Ireland went there and stayed there and apparently I still have family in America.
This is probably all nonsense and there is no connection, and McManus may have been the name of many Irish immigrants, but my cousin sure does look like him.
Is there any background info on Michael, i.e his family background.
I’m going to show my gran a piccie of Michael and see if she recognises him without telling her who it is.
Anyway, sorry for the rambling, but I must admit I am very curious and if anyone can help I’d be extremely grateful.

Ok, feeling a bit of a pillock now, just done a search for McManus and found out there are thousands in the states, so I’m sorry for the above.
I guess it’s because there aren’t too many in the UK, that it led me to believe the same was true in the US.
But heh, we all do stupid things sometimes (god I wish I could delete the post), ah well you never he might be a realtion of mine after all, along with several thousand other McManus’s!!!
Still my cousin does look like him, I think I’ll get my cousin to dress up as Kai and go to the conventions for a laugh!!!
Slightly Embarressed Squishy.——————

well now, if you really want the posts deleted, i can, but on the bright side, a little irish in the family is a good thing and perhaps more common than you think here in the states…imagine my surprise when i had a ms mcmanus to see, and she was a sweet 80 year old african american 😉
let’s see, got this from a canadian scifi journal, but young mikey comes from a mother with 5 sisters…one of whom is helen shaver, the actress…regards dad, dunno much except according to pat’s site, there is some theatre named after him in toronto i think, so i guess that side of the family is into acting as well…not much info in the way of geneology i suppose…big thing here in the states you know, my ex mom in law is a guthrie, so of course she had to toddle off with all the other guthries (maybe 10,000 at a guess?!) to see the ancestral castle over in scotland…anyway good luck in your digging

GuestFX, it’s probably best deleted to save poor ol Squishy’s blushes.
I keep forgetting how big America is!!!, the chance of me being related to Mikey, well I might as well say I’m related to the Pope.
Anyway, I’ll think a little harder before posting such a silly idea in future, and I blame the UK for my error, as there aren’t too many McManus’s over here.

GuestPlease don’t be embarrassed, Squishy. I got all a’tingle for a moment there, thinking I might be in contact with a relative of our hero! McManus is, apparently, a fine Irish family name. I am adopted and have no information at all about my Irish geneology. So I envy you a little!
Anybody ever play a 6 Degrees game? Some friends & I have our own silly version which is kinda fun (and explains my excitement thinking Squishy might be related to MM). We just like to see who (celebs usually) we could get to in 6 degrees or better. It’s must fun to play while sipping cold drinks in lounge chairs on a summer afternoon.

Thanx Aurora, I must admit I’m still alittle curious, but it’s not as if I’d phone Michael and say we’re related, but I’d love to see his family tree for curiousty’s sake!!!
I think everybody would love to say that they have a family connection to one of their heroes, but Michael seems like a really nice guy and I wouldn’t pester him even if he were family, unless he’s stinking rich, at which point all moral values go out the window and I’ll be right round Salter introducing myself!!!

Speaking of 6 Degrees of Seperation, I actually have a little story on that. I’m three degrees (people) from Brian Downey :P. One of my best friend’s is a Newfie and a casual friend of his is actually Brian’s nephew. Weird, eh? I guess technically that would make me 4 degrees from the rest of the Lexx crew. I dunno, just something weird that came up in casual conversation between me and Michael (my friend, not McManus )

Might as well leave it now FX, everyone has probably read it anyway, I think it was the demon board that possessed me, I heard voices while on the forum telling me to write it!!!
This forum is getting spooky, next we’ll see Freddy Kruger smilies popping up eveywhere, this board is the DEVIL!!!

Not bad elfkin! It’s a fun game for parties, when there’s no booze or Lexxians.
