OK, that’s not really what it is, I just always wanted to have a reason to say that…

It’s the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven Lab–they may have re-created the quark-gluon plasma that is the basic matter that created the universe. They’re starting work to confirm (or not) their results:

    Visiting the Big Bang

Apparently they’ve been in a race with CERN to see who gets to the quark-gluon first. Uh-oh, that sounds awfully familiar for some reason……

Higgs-Bosen, Quark-Gluon, what is it with these scientists?, it is exciting but you do wonder if they truly know what they are doing with these exotic matters.
And there’s a race on?…well that inspires confidence!!!

If there hadn’t been a “race” on to get to the moon,it might not have happened. It took a secret(at the time) executive order from Pres. Kennedy to “beat the Russians at all costs”to get there. Only for the sake of competition! Competition is a good thing in general. I just wish there was a better international system of checks and balances on this type of research.

Look on the bright side, at least there isn’t a large scale nuke race anymore….
