I posted this over at Lexx.Com, but it’s related to this forum so I thought it best to post it here, too.
I have heard vague rumors of a Lexx spin-off. I haven’t heard anything new, but what say we talk about ideas?
Here’s one idea: what if Prince, Priest, and Bunny became the new crew of the Lexx? I pondered this idea some time ago. After seeing [i]4.12 Bad Carrot[/i] and [i]4.13 769[/i], the thought returned to me. Think about it. Wouldn’t it be an amusing show?
But what about this even better idea: Prince replaces Kai as a crewmember of the Lexx. You’d still have good ol’ Stan and delicious Xev. But since there’s no chance that Michael McManus (Kai) will return after series IV, I think Prince would be a wonderful replacement for the trio. Even better, why not bring Priest and Bunny along? And if storyline permitting, why not bring back Lyekka as a crewmember of the Lexx?
All of this depends, of course, on the way series IV ends!

New crew: Stan, Lyekka, Oberon, and 790. That’d be cool for a spinoff. [img]images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] Or it could be a prequel series, with Thodin and the Heretics. It’d be nice if we could relive those Divine Order days. [img]images/smiles/icon_cool.gif[/img] Really, I’d watch any spinoff, just so long as ther were INSECTS! [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
Hey, I just had a thought: what if Cleasby were to get the key to the Lexx and become the new captain? That could be interesting. [img]images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img]

Yes insects, want more insects!!!, I miss the D/O as well, Lexx was really dark in those days, that’s when I thought it would really give Star Wars a run for it’s money.
Since then Lexx has gone in a completely different direction, but it’s two extremes, I loved the way it was back then and I like the way it is now, if I had a choice…I would welcome back HDS with open arms!!!
Hmmm, Cleasby as captain, well that type 13 planet would be space dust in seconds if that were to happen!!!
My idea of a spin-off would be like Enterprise, a young tweedle amongst the heretics, or life at the beginning of the insect wars or at the beginning of the D/O, exploring how it came about, and how Lexx came about in detail…a prequel to Lexx would be fun.

Then why do we have exterminators? I personally prefer my insects dead. Yeah Squish the greatest exterminator of them all!
But insects are cool! And Insects are really cool! Seriously, I really love insects, ever since I was a kid. In elementary school my nickname was Bugboy because I was always collecting, drawing, or talking about insects. I think insects are the most æsthetically appealing form of life on this planet (and the prospect of giant or intelligent insects on other planets is an intriguing and disquieting concept that has become a tradition in science fiction). I once told someone they reminded me of a preying mantis, but think she might have taken it the wrong way.
Anyway, I love insects. INSECTS!!!

Why don’t you write a short story from the point of view of the Insect Civilization? Why would the Insect aliens want to kill humans? Maybe humans accidentally caused them to “swarm”? Sound like you have your work cut out for you DT!

Well I like insects as so far as they make interesting and particularly frightening adversaries, otherwise I’m glad most are small.
DT, that was quite funny you trying to be friendly to the opposite sex by calling her a Preying Mantis, I would have loved to have seen the look on her face…not exactly the most romantic thing to say.
And how did she remind you of a preying Mantis?
Even though most of us hate bugs, it would have been eye candy to have seen the insect wars played out, it would have made the bugs in Starship Troopers seem like, erm ants, in comparison!!!

I’m not big on fan fiction. I prefer compiling information on the “real” Insect civilization, not inventing my own.

Because she had lovely hypnotic eyes. It was intended as a compliment, but I suppose it could have been interpreted differently, which would be consistent with her reaction.

You know what I’d like to see in L2? A morph. A balance for Prince that does not interfere unless it gets way off balance. I would like to see them enter a newly-created universe to which Prince has the slight edge and meet up with a morph who can change into any matter of man or woman depending on story. I think the main morph as male; white hair blue eyes. And then he can change according to the viewing public. I prefer a guy myself; ladies are you with me on this one. Tall, barefoot, button-fly jeans; blue eyes orr a sharp dressed man, either does it for me.
May be it is a little soon; everyone is still in mourning; but think about it.
I have no idea to add to some of you guys’ great ones, but I just wanted to say a new series, or a spinoff of Lexx would be great. Hell, I’d LOVE if they made a movie of it, even if it was just straight-to-video. I havent seen the final episode yet, but I’ve read the review, and it got me mad…if you’re gonna end a series, let all of the characters live, or kill them all, dont kill one off and leave 2 alive with a cliffhanger!
