If it annoys anyone that this is here, tough.

About the recent events- NOT LEXX

NEW YORK (CNN) — Passengers on board the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed in rural Pennsylvania Tuesday apparently decided to attack the terrorists who had commandeered the plane, according to family members of one passenger. A flight attendant called her husband and told him three other attendants had been stabbed by the hijackers, according to an airline employee who asked not to be named.

Passenger Thomas E. Burnett Jr., 38, made four calls to his wife Deena in San Ramon, California, the AP said.

“A group of us are going to do something,” Burnett said at one point, his wife told the AP. He also said one passenger had been stabbed.

Glick and Burnett both said in their calls the people on board knew of one or more attacks on the World Trade Center, evidently from the other phone calls.

“He wanted to know if that was true,” Makely said.

After Glick was told the reports were true, he left the phone for a while, returning to say, “The men voted to attack the terrorists,” Makely said.

“He left the phone and said he would be back,” Makely said. “That’s the last we heard.”

Burnett’s wife told the AP her husband “thought he was going to be home. He was going to solve this problem.”

Passenger Mark Bingham, 31, called his mother to say the plane had been taken over by three men who said they had a bomb, the AP reported.

Alice Hoglan said she thinks her son may have helped prevent the hijackers from hitting a more populated area.

If this story is true, then the passengers were real heroes, and we thank them for their sacrifice.

Although nothing has been made clear yet, it does seem that the people on that flight stood up to these animals, when they realised just where the jet was heading.
It’s such a shame that these real life heroes can’t be around today to tell the world of their acts of bravery.
I’m sure all the victims will be honoured by the US and the world, but those on that flight deserve a posthumous award for their courage and bravery.
They possibly saved us from being in War right this minute, if the President had been targeted and they succeeded, then I’m sure the armed forces would have hit back as soon as they learnt of it.
I hope that the US leaders have thought out their plans for retaliation very carefully, as many do fear an escalation of hostilities, that would possibly lead to WW3.
Conicidently, a poll conducted by Sky news has shown that 91% agree that the UK should do all it can to aid America in it’s fight against terrorism.
I heard earlier that America very rarely receives praise or thanks for the work it does in the world, but the UK does recognise the US as being a saviour for many parts of the world.
I think that the Arab nations view of America has been distorted by mistakes made by previous administrations and the general feeling of hatred that is promoted by both their political and religious leaders.
The whole world knows that America, in trying to resolve issues, have unfortunately, made mistakes, but in my eyes the American Government are only human, and mistakes are inevitable.

Hypatia and Squishi – Both of your posts were great, these things need to be said..
Anyone who would object to either would’nt have a heart. It’s a terrible time, is’nt it? Thank the Heavens that the good people like you guys outnumber the bad..

In the Delaware News Journal yesterday was a picture of the WTC as it crumbled. At the bottom of the smoke you can clearly see the face of what appears to be the devil…Many people contacted the Journal saying it had to be doctored but the Journal says absolutely not! E-mail me with your addresses and I will send you a copy. I am going to make extra color copies tomorrow. I sorry I don’t have a scanner but you have to see the picture to believe it. I know that it is only the way the smoke blew but it is very eerie and spooky.

I think everyone who perished in this act of cowardice is a hero, except of course the perpetrators……

There could also be up to 200 firefighters and 95 policeman lost as well.

So this smoke cloud (yeah I would like to see it), did it have an ugly stupid looking long beard and have a towel wrapped it’s head???…if so, it’s gotta be throw him in the bin laden.
God I hate that bloke, and while I don’t like the idea of public execution, I will make an exception in his case.

Agreed Squishy, and let’s hope that whoever finds bin ladin tortures him first.

Don’t say towel tho, common ethnic slur in the states.

Just a couple of things. (and this is not meant in any way personally, these are just general statements that the last couple of posts led me to consider)
I don’t think it helps to underestimate Bin Laden. He’s obviously someone of great cunning and intelligence, but possessed of a fanatacism that most of us cannot begin to understand. To truly appreciate the threat he poses, and to comprehend what he’s capable of doing, he shouldn’t be written off as a pin-headed buffoon.
Secondly, I know that no-one on here would go so far as to buy into racial or ideological stereotypes based on a person’s skin color or dress, but we need to be careful when referring to things like “towels” on people’s heads, no matter who’s wearing them. These things are part of a general religious dress, and are worn by many people who don’t share the beliefs of Bin Laden and other fundamentalist Islamic sects. By making disparaging remarks about how he’s dressed and relating it to what he believes, you’re unfortunately buying into the stereotypes on some level.
Again, please don’t anyone take this personally or as a flame. It’s just something that was sparked in my mind by some posts I’ve seen.
