The “Babylon 5” universe is based on real stars (unlike some sci-fi series involving trekking among stars that will remain nameless ), so, provided it adheres to an actual star map, it must be accurate.

That’s a pretty damned cool site!

Freespace 2 was one of my fave games (and I’m not really a gamer), it lends itself superbly to the B5 Universe and would be a wonderful game if it could be adapted.

I’m not sure it it will be an accurate map, I have a sneaking suspicion that the Bab5 galaxy was made up as they went along

    erm… That’s probably blasphemous

I bought the game Frontier: Elite 2 after rave reviews.. it had a map of the galaxy built in with billions of stars, all mapped out as accurately as possible with planets created following the current theories etc.. and it all fitted onto a single 880k Amiga floppy!

Frontier (the sequel to Elite) and First Encounters (the sequel to Frontier) are both available on the PC (I have Amiga and PC copies of Frontier and PC copy of Firstenc) although they are DOS games, which will run under Win9x at a pinch. I’m not sure if any more games have come out under the Elite franchise, but if they have they’ve not been very high profile.

Do you know if that game is available on PC?

the only game I ever enjoyed was Elite (for the BBC B). I am old enough to remember when it first came out – in fact I was one of the first to buy the game and since I was between jobs, I decided to try and be the first to complete it. It came on a single 100Kb floppy disk and was so awe inspiringly collosal in scope that I was completely adicted.

There was a first prize to be the first person to become elite, I missed it by three days – beeten by a 10 year old boy! – The little bastard

I’ve been looking for a PC equivalent ever since. I have Freespace 2, Homeworld and X Beyond the Final Frontier (and X Tension). And though X is pretty good, it just doesn’t match the scope of Elite.

Do you guys know of other Elite type games for the PC out there?
