I just finished watching the 4 movies and a few thought have just arisen.

What happed to the Key that His Divine Shadow had?? When HDS cut out his brain didnt that mean his body died and so wouldnt we have seen that key being passed on? Or becouse his brain still lived was key is still intact? If the key was still within the brain would it been passed on when Kai smooshed it in “The Giga Shadow?”? To Zev?

In the “Giga Shadow” Yottskry is dead, yet when reanimated he show not only motavation but anguish? I thought the dead have no emotion? ๐Ÿ˜• (Kai, you gots some splaning to do!)

Could Lykka and her sisters be a off shoot of Wist?

anyway i hope someone out there can answer my question for they are driving me mad! I have no lexx friends to talk with!! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ most just brush it off as weird porn

Question 1: About HDS key: Hrmm, my guess would be that the key was part of the insect essence(same color as the essence whereas Stans/Thodins key was created by a group of liberated scientists and red in color) and not specifically created for HDS, but always innate in him, being an insect too and all that. But thats just my personal guess since nothing else fits. But if that were true then Kai coulda just killed the crew and highjacked the Lexx. Good question!

    Question 2:
Kai is totally different from those reanimated Dead. Kai is no longer physically human, he was dramatically changed by Bio-Scholars to be the perfect souless assassin. The good aspect I thought was it setup the later “Mort” and 790 corruption by being infused with Protoblood since it carries HDS agenda. My theory is 790 became gradually evil after Kai used protoblood to reanimate 790 in “Norb”, but that’s neither here nor there =)

    Question 3: Wist and Lyekka
Rumor has it Doreen Jacobi was asked to do Series 4 but refused. Originally Wist had survived (Remember she was in the Dark Zone) and over the last 4000 years had built herself a craft from the debris (Hence why the ship is an astroid not the pod-like creatures in Lyekka) and the carrot probes were really meant to be Sattellite Worms. Instead they called on their good friend and fantastic person IRL Louis Wischermann to fill in as evil-Lyekka. True? False? I’m sure someone around here close to the Beans can fill the rest in =) But its the rumor I like best.

There’s no direct connection between Wist and Lyekka.

Originally, the intention, however, was to bring Wist back. But this would not be the Pattern Worm Wist, but rather a life form that copied images from Stans’ mind.

In the original second season outline from June, 1996, there’s an episode called “Hi Wist” which described its character as being similar to the ‘frightened girl Wist’ that Kai sees on the monitor in Eating Pattern. This was going to be the 19th episode, I believe.

Then, by December, 1997, ‘Hi Wist’ had moved up to the third episode, and Wist was being planned as a continuing character with four episodes and a character arc. This Wist was much closer in personality to the Pattern Worm wist, but she was really a predatory plant person.

Doreen Jacobi dropped out, or declined to participate. But they were so committed at this time, that there was a role to fill. This was eventually taken up by Louise Wischermann, and the character of Lyekka was born. Lyekka evolved significantly from the personality of Wist, to suit the actress.

In terms of the fourth season, I can’t verify the Doreen Jacobi thing. But there’s no sign of it anywhere. It may be what happened, but I’ve found no hint and no one ever mentioned it.

What I did find was a Little Blue Planet script that described the inhabitants of the asteroid/alien ship as squids. The squids had tentacles, the alien ship operated with tentacles. That was the big thing going on.

Then, because the ship was described in the script as potato shaped, two crew members, Alex Busby and David Hackl, were getting drunk, looking at the script, and they started joking about potato shaped space ships.

What would be inside a potato shaped spaceship. Evil Tubers? Mean Yams. Angry Roots. Bad Carrots. Alex Busby sketched out an evil Bad Carrot which would go around jumping up peoples behinds.

When they sobered up, they showed it to Paul. He liked it. Bad carrots came in. Squids went out. Lex Gigeroff told me they were kind of sick of doing tentacles anyway. It had been done.

Louise Wischermann was only scheduled to come back as Lulu.
But Lyekka was a plant. The Bad Carrots were plants…. It just seemed like a natural connection.

That’s basically how it happened, more or less….

As to the Key, I think Thodin’s/Stan’s key was designed to be transferable. His Divine Shadow may not have wanted that particular quality to be imbued in the Key that he had.

Alternately, this Key, after HDS died, may have merged with the LEXX, giving it a degree of self control and volition, at least for a while. In the first and second seasons, LEXX occasionally took action, as in scratching Wist, or eating snacks.

Possibly, this Key wound up jumping into a dormant moth breeder, or perhaps one of the refugees like the Golenes left on board, but eventually died or got lost. For all we know, the HDS key was in Junior Golene from White Trash, and no one ever knew.

As to Yottkry, remember that Yottskry thought he was alive initially, and still remembered vividly being alive. He just hadn’t gotten around to accepting that he was dead, so he just kept on acting and emoting as if he was alive. Eventually, he would have run out of emotional energy and devolved to a more Kai like state…

I don’t remember the episode, but I remember Kai talking about the nature of the key. Kai said that the orginial key was intended to be transfered at the point of death, as that is how one Divine Shadow would transfer it to another. Therefore, I think the original key to the Lexx works basically the same as the Heretics’ key.

When the last Divine Shadow removed his still-living brain, the key would logically either stay with the brain or the body. I think it’s more likely it stayed with the brain, since HDS removed his brain specifically so, if his body was destroyed, all would not be lost. However, we did not see the key when Kai crushed HDS’s brain.

Although, as we saw, part of HDS’s brain was still alive when Yottskry picked it up and got a face full of essence. So maybe part of Yottskry’s brain was still alive, and the key passed to him, which was then consumed by the Giga Shadow.

Or maybe the key remained in the piece of HDS brain, until it finally completely died, and no-one was around to receive the key?

Or maybe the key WAS in HDS’s body, and when Kai killed that body, the key joined its copy in Stan. This is probably the most plausible scenario. All that essence was whirling around, so in the confusion, the key might have entered Stan.

Of course, in reality, you just KNOW the Beans simply forgot about it.

Has to have been in HDS’s body, since otherwise there was no reason for HDS to go into the LEXX at all.

He was clearly attempting to retrieve the LEXX. He shows up on the bridge, he does not realize Kai has recovered his memories.

His plan was to go there, assume control of the LEXX, and take it home.

If he did not return, then the Admiral of the Megashadow was to destroy the LEXX.

Well, if he wasn’t planning on retaking the LEXX, then he might just as well have sat on the Megashadow and blew it up in the first place.

Finally, I agree with Sgt. Draino that HDS’ key was probably fundamentally similar in operation to Stan’s. But its still possible that they might have each had slightly different customizations.
