I sat down in utter shock when I saw the pictures from the London bombings this morning on the television. Violence is so stupid! 😡
One sits and thinks to oneself, “There has got to be a better way to solve our differences.”
Unfortunately, some folks can only use extremes,..which in turn call for extremes…so it is said. Has mankind’s ability to reason suddenly gone defunct? 😡7th July 2005 at 4:10 pm #75103AnonymousGuest
Yep, us brits are all glum at the moment. I’m sat at work periodically checking the BBC news website morbidly watching the deathtoll rise.
It’s really nasty, especially after the previous nights celebration.
Not sure how many LadySadGeezers and SadGeezers are from London. How you guys are all ok!7th July 2005 at 7:07 pm #75105JhevzParticipant
Hi Fellow Sci-Fi UK Fans,
This terrorist act is just appauling, especially in such a great city; my condolences to all there & my prayers are with you all. I’ll also light a candle & hope everything is ok; when I heard this news from my mom, I’ve been watching it ever since.

Our government and it’s army has spent the last year kicking the shit out of Bagdad – plenty of innocents suffering appallingly as a result – who cared? – so we had this coming to us.
As Asimov once said “Violence is the last resort of the incompetent”
If humans are to survive we need to grow up and grow together.
However: your heartfelt concern is most touching…..11th July 2005 at 6:32 pm #75119SidhecafeParticipant
I’m more and more afraid that as one politician was quoted, “No city can say it is safe.”
This is the world we have created. We never asked for violence and no one deserves it, esp civilians. Who are most often the victims.
My roommate teaches veterans – mostly young veterans – one of whom was just called back for his 3rd tour in Iraq. The US military can’t get enough recruits, the president’s favour is dropping in the polls…maybe we are all finally making the connection – violence begets violence.
Hopefully our leaders are ready to grow up and make motions for true change and just not more violence.
My thoughts are with all Londoners and all who must suffer violence in their daily lives.16th July 2005 at 12:15 am #75136AnonymousGuest
The pessemists underestimate my fellow Brits. Fact is that we have shown the classic stiff upper lip and have gone about events with quiet dignity. I was proud of the apparently calm attitude taken with the evacuations of effected tube stations.
Certainly, those posting from overseas, I appreciate your concern for what is happening to the country. I gues at this time it is time for America to stand shoulder to shoulder with the UK, after all:”JFK” wrote:
