ParticipantDon’t forget immediately following the Lexx episode chat in fef.net #Sadgeezer on friday, we will be trying to hammer out what hotel to stay in during UsCon Lexx Vegas.
Just a reminder the date chosen for UsCon Lexx Vegas was Friday May 17th thru Sunday May 19th.
Hope to see ya there! After all you can’t moan about the choice if you aren’t there to help with the decisions.

ParticipantPublic Service Announcement: Let me again remind everyone that this convention is more of a Lexx vacation or a glorified pub crawl if you will, and that there are no plans of trying to shanghi any cast to it. End Announcement.
Ahem… yes, and I am really behind in updating this thing! Sorry
The date chosen was Friday May 17th thru Sunday May 19th. This was announced originally at the end of December.
Last Friday after the Lexx Chat there was a short meeting to try and hash out the hotel room thing. The thinking being that it would make life easier for all concerned it we stayed at one or two hotels rather than scattered all over the place.
Three people showed up.
We tried, really tried to go off strip, but unfortunately everyone that showed up, (me, Auora and FX) wanted to stay in a new hotel on the strip. We were going to try the Golden Nugget, really, we were! Honest. I pretty much fussed the other two into agreeing, and when I told theSpouse he had a cow!
He has stayed several times in the older section and refused to take me there. He said he didn’t know what the golden nuggets rooms were like, but the casino was a dump. Or at least it was last time he was there. And unfortunately he was down on the whole ‘off strip’ thing. He has stayed there every time he has gone to Vegas, and he wasn’t agoing to do it again.
So Auora and I ended up booking at the MGM GrandTower, and I immagine FX will also if she can clear that week end. HK said he is also going to book at the MGM, Marty K being a more adventurous soul has mad his plane ressies but is waiting to see if he can catch the MGM running a special.
I looked in to HK’s suggestion of the Barbary Coast. Since a smaller hotel might be easier some. And it is just down the road. But again I ran into Spouse resistance, but it really isn’t his fault, we had a bad experience with a newly renovated hotel this summer that was a dump. Normally I would argue with the best of them, but he has been there before, and I have not. But it might make a nice choice for the Second Hotel as it is only a few blocks away and more reasonable.
I used http://www.worryfreevacations.com and got a pretty good deal with airfare included. But watch out for the airport surcharges!
email me when and where you are staying and I will post it on the UsCon Lexx Vegas Page, which I am working on, even as I type.

ParticipantI may be a little offbase posting to this, since it doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to make it, but I’ve been to Vegas several times so maybe I can offer a little helpful advice.
You are better off staying in one of the bigger hotel/casinos like the MGM Grande, or even one of the offstrip ones. They may look rich and expensive, but they actually do have some reasonable rates, especially now that tourism has fallen off so badly. There are buffets all over town where you can eat on the cheap, and there are ALL KINDS of free spectacles and shows. Some things will cost money (the virtual reality rides, for instance). They generally run around $10 or so, which isn’t so bad, and they are well worth it if you like that kind of thing.
While you’re there, make sure you take in Caesar’s Palace Forum Shoppes and the Lost Atlantis show, the pirate show in front of Treasure Island (get there early), and the water dance in front of the Bellagio after dark. If you’ve got guts of steel, ride the roller coaster at the top of the Stratosphere (an experience not to be missed, although I did, heh heh). By all means, invade the Star Trek exhibit at the Hilton, and make sure they know you are Lexxians. Remind them several times.
You’ll probably have to rent a car. If so, stay off the Strip as much as possible. It’s bumper to bumper from dawn to dawn. Get yourself a good street map and get around on the back streets and side streets.
I don’t recommend staying downtown in the old part of Vegas, but definitely go down there at night. They’ve got a light show on Fremont Street (which is a canopied mall now) that’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Ignore the Asian women trying to lure you into the arcades with a free roll of quarters.
As for gambling, I’m not attracted to it, so I have no advice other than to remember that the odds are stacked in favor of the house always. I wish you all a good time and that you come home with at least some of your money.

ParticipantHi!!
It sounds lovely; but no go for me this year; I plan to go when I relocate in that area the latter part of next year.Have a blast; don’t turn into “Lexxian Lounge lizards” too quickly and leave the King where you found him.
Is Henry Kissinger going too? I didn’t know he was a closet Lexxian, hmmm Is he still alive: then he would be “out of the box” I suppose.
Enjoy.

Henry Kissinger, Ha, good one. HK is Hawaii Kai, but as those of you who know me can attest, I can’t spell worth a flip. I was in too much a hurry to open up a word processor, so you got HK. Sorry to disapoint Mr. Kissinger’s fan base.

ParticipantCool; do the dead body surf? Or would that be considered bobbing or floating.
It’s a Weekend at Bernie’s kind of look I would suppose; with the sunglasses, Hawaiian shirt and that hair. It could be Kai P. I. or LEXX Five O. An instead of Tiny Bubbles it could be “Tiny Chessman”.

GuestHey all,
I do plan on going to the Vegas Con to hang, but unfortunately my BF( Marquis D. Sad) will not be able to afford going because he is moving..etc etc…so I will be flying solo. So if there are any lexxians that are looking for hotel roomies in Vegas let me know, I’m too young to rent a car…so that’s out of the question for me
Is Vegas notorious for needing a car to get around?see ya in Vegas

There is a monorail that runs between a few of the casinos, and MGM Grande, The Tropicana, New York New York, and Excalibur are all connected by bridges over the street. However, Las Vegas is not walker friendly, and the casino/hotels are so huge that it takes forever to walk from one to the other. Unfortunately, you will need wheels.
