I’ll try my best to help. It was the last episode I saw of fouth season, so it is fresh in my memory.
The first scene you mentioned: Stan was not walking around after getting arrested for “operation Dandylion”, he was committed. The next time you see him he is blabbering in a mental institute with some doctors planning his labotomy.
As for the second scene, we should realize that the actor Kai is so ‘out of it’, he didn’t seem to notice his audience disappearing. We are supposed to assume Xev ate them while he wasn’t around, or just not paying attention. Besides, would you really want to see those people getting eaten alive? Especially our favourite guy Kai??
Have I made anything clear for you? I did my best. Princess of Fire
13th October 2001 at 8:33 pm #56336AnonymousGuestRegarding the fans “disappearing”, Xev says something like “There were people here, and then they were gone” when Kai shows up. The little doll that she’s holding was being held by one of the fans in the previous scenes, but now it’s covered in blood. From reading the accounts of the filming from Pat, the Lexx Fan Club president, I’m wondering if scenes weren’t cut for time and/or content.

as the others said, stan spent at least part of the eppy trying to get out of the institution before he got lobotomized and castrated…prince of course at work to try to get to the lexx…prince also wants to try to bribe xev one last time by giving her live kai…regards who was responsible for the editing, probably beans and scifi, but significant portions are cut so that overall the eppy was less than satisfying, but still satisfyingly sick and twisted and besides it gave mcmanus a chance to ‘stretch’ and play another character …i was wondering a few times in hali how much he was really ‘stretching’ in that particular role

What I recall Stan is on the phone to Prince and he is led off by the ATF with rubber gloves. Next scene he is walking down a street and pops into a Porn shop and is then arrested by a police man who slugs him. How did he escape from the ATF?

Hey, FX, welcome back!
When and where will you lucky, lucky bi…er, ladies post all the juicy, gory details? And did you happen to see a Stan hat floating around?
13th October 2001 at 11:52 pm #56340AnonymousGuestThis ep does seem to have a bit too much plot for everything to be totally clear–I just figured that Prince’s security hustled Stan away from the White House and cut him loose after a few more threats. After all, he had nothing left that Prince wants! And knowing Prince, maybe he even arranged to have him picked up and lobotomized later.
Till you mentioned it, I hadn’t thought about that detail much, but we have looong stretches of ads during the U.S. broadcast, you tend to forget exactly what happened in the scene before while you wait for the Blimpie guy to finish cutting his sausages. Do you see the US or the Canadian version?
On Xev’s eating scenes, I thought it was pretty clear when she picked up the bloody doll and then Kai told her she’d been devouring the audience. And he even warned her she’d be eating Actor Kai soon. I imagine some stuff was cut–I have a feeling they may have shown her eating the poodle! Yuk.

14th October 2001 at 12:03 am #56341AnonymousGuestI saw the US version on tape, flown in from the US. The whole episode to me came across as a bit of a mess. The basic premise was there it just seemed to badly executed, a real shame after Vlad. I got the feeling the episode was like a dream sequence. At least Magic Baby was back on track.

It was more like a series of sketches wasn’t it? Particularly noticeable following Vlad which was intense and tightly plotted. But I don’t mind that kind of looseness here and there. It will be interesting to see what’s put back in for the DVD.

14th October 2001 at 5:22 am #37364SadGeezerKeymastera)During Fluffdaddy Stan gets arrested by the ATF (Operation Dandylion?) and led off. In the next scene he is walking around freely. Eh? Did I miss something? Did he escape?
b)Did US Sci-Fi cut out most of the Xev eats Audience/Living Kai scene? Not much of that made sense.
Were these strange errors due to cuts or just bad direction/plotting?

Looking forward to the write-ups, thanks FX!
15th October 2001 at 6:11 am #56347AnonymousGuestWas anyone bothered by the fact that Kai was ok with Xev eating people but in another episode he was quite eager to dump Lyekka on a planet for the same reason? In both cases,it was ‘part of their nature’.

true, but 1)lil blue planet is type 13 and going to destroy itself anyway, 20he got his butt kicked righteously trying to keep vlad from killing everyone and 3) even kai know not to mess with ESTRUS!

He didn’t want Lyekka to eat Stan or Xev next time she got hungry.

15th October 2001 at 9:16 am #56350AnonymousGuestKai has promissed to protect Stan and Xev and besides he “suggested” it although in LBP he says “the dead do not make suggestions”, however we all know that Kai makes suggestions like it’s going out of style. Either that or he makes “recomendations”.

I figure that’s because Lyekka is permanently dangerous, whereas Zev’s viciousness would pass.
16th October 2001 at 12:47 am #56352AnonymousGuestKai didn’t seen to think much of his actor “self.” Dead Kai has a history of selflessness, whereas actor Kai was quite the self-absorbed prima donna. Maybe he didn’t think he was worth saving.
