Internet uses can nominate their favourite non-professional websites for the best of British broadband Awards.

The awards, sponsored by Computer Active and NTL, aim to reward those British sites created by home users, clubs, charities and other groups that make the best use of the internet for users with broadband connections. There are 14 categories, including “music-lover” for the best music site “helping hand” for the best charitable side and snap-site for the best photography website.

Anybody can submit a site and users are being encouraged to submit their own sites and those made by their friends and family. The judging panel will then select a shortlist of six site per category once the nomination closes on the 24 to September, and each of the sites that are shortlisted will be showcased on an awards site. The judges include computer actives editor Dylan Armbrust and radio disc jockey” Dr ” Neil Fox. There is a special “Foxy’s gallery” for sites that he finds particularly creative, as well as special coteries for users aged over 50 and under 16. Each category winner will receive a miniature digital camera, an X-box and 100 pounds in cash, as well as a six-month subscription to ComputerActive.

Winners will also be invited to the all-expenses paid awards lunch in London at the beginning of November, and will have the opportunity to meet the judging panel.
