An Anthology of Speculative Fiction set in Manchester Paperback – 21 Oct 2015. This is a really interesting and fun way to spend a couple of hours. The book (available via Amazon – IISBN-13: 978-1518701351) is so unlike the normal collection of short stories. I particularly loved the way it had a Manchester ‘feeling’ which set it apart ..

An Anthology of Speculative Fiction set in Manchester Paperback – 21 Oct 2015.

This is a really interesting and fun way to spend a couple of hours. The book (available via Amazon – IISBN-13: 978-1518701351) is so unlike the normal collection of short stories. I particularly loved the way it had a Manchester ‘feeling’ which set it apart from the usual sci fi anthology. It seemed to create it’s own mini-sci-fi-fantasy-genre and yet still remain varied and interesting (and more than a little wacky). One of the stories, Waterways was just wonderful to read and most of the others were gripping and fun.

‘Waterways’ featured aliens that live in the Rochdale (and other) canals, wadda blast! I loved reading it!

In all there are 17 stories covering comedy, dystopia, sci fi, horror to general weirdness and strangeness. The stories are written by:

Die Booth
Matthew Bright
Ekaterina Fawl
Bryn Fazakerley
Katy Harrison
Sarah Jasmon
Chris Ovenden
Steve Palmer
Craig Pay
Gerda Picken
Rob Prescott
James Ridgway
Luke Shelbourn
Eric Ian Steele
Angus Stewart
Sam Tein
Quentin Van Dinteren

Note by MadLab (where the group meet): “Manchester Speculative Fiction Group was established in 2010 for writers interested in science fiction, weird fiction, slipstream, horror and fantasy. Since then it has had many successes: two members of the group have had novels published so far, and others are on the way, having gained deals or agents. Several have won writing competitions and had short stories featured in magazines and anthologies. See manchesterspeculativefiction.org “
