Nowhere Man: Science: Moen Technique

Example of the breakthrough Level 15 trance.Dr. Moen, an academic rival to Dr. Bellamy, uses an advanced system of drugs, pulsating lights, the power of suggestion, stage scenery, virtual reality and actors to break his subject’s spirit. It appears to be modeled on the Virtual Reality Scenario which backfired and caused much embarrassment to the Organization in the late 60’s.

Rather than transporting the subject’s consciousness to another setting or time period, the Moen Technique sinks the subject into a Level 15 trance state, once thought impossible, which allows the controller to manipulate the subject’s concepts of time and space through positive and negative hallucinations.

While he can’t simply ask for information and get it, he can convince the subject he has a long-term fictional past with an actress in only a few days and threaten to endanger her to get an empathetic cooperative response.
