Red Dwarf: S04E01: Camille
Very poignant, clever and fun show. This is the love interest episode where the crew meet their ideal partners – actually played by their real life partners (excepts Cat’s of course).

A marvellous episode in which Kryten gets a chance to be human. Although his spare heads seem less that comfortable with the idea (especially the one with Droid Rot).
Another classic episode in which Rimmer is accused of manslaughter and heroically defended by Kryten.
Science, comedy, concept – all awesome. A near perfect score for a near perfect example of good science fiction comedy!
In this episode we are introduced to Ace, a heroic Rimmer what a guy!) and that immortal phrase, “Smoke me a Kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast.” The character is sooooo cheesy that you just can’t help warm to him.
Kryten discovers a matter transporter paddle in the research lab of Red Dwarf and our intrepid heroes transport themselves to a planet of their idols and worst nightmares….
“I just love that accent, it makes me go all wibbly wobbly” or “Isn’t that a urine stain on your trousers?” Fun with Listers personality.
The History of the Cats and how they evolved over millions of years…. And how Dave Lister was their God!
Lister tries to prove that he is more than a pile of smeg to ensure that he is not bossed around by Rimmer.
Early on, Red Dwarf established itself as a sci fi comedy show that wasn’t afraid to poke a stick at the whole Time Travel shtick.
A very weak episode except for the whole premise. Poorly acted, poorly produced and directed but still great!
This was break-neck stuff. It was hard to keep up, especially near the end, but oh! The science was amazing – truly, computer games were just beginning to get more advanced and 3d gaming had only just started. Despite the limitations of the BBC graphics department this was cutting edge Science Fiction and the comedy was immaculate.
Lister and Rimmer are marooned on a cold planet together awaiting rescue. This is a dialogue episode and isn’t brilliant, but it isn’t bad either!
The crew of Red Dwarf find a reality that is backwards after going forwards through a Time Hole. Confused? Don’t be, it’s just another Red Dwarf epsiode….
A near perfect score for a terrific episode! Finally the crew of Red Dwarf meet some females, not just any females, but females that are just like them (except for Cat of course!)
The awesome Charles Augins played the Holly computer replacement. Queeg is ruthless and determined to get a more regimented routine into the Red Dwarf lifestyle.
Rimmer to Rimmer: “Look, we’ve found a stasis leak on floor sixteen. I’m dead now and you’re not. But if I save you, you won’t die so I won’t die. And you won’t be dead, and neither will I!”
Rimmer doesn’t have any fun and wacky memories – especially of girlfriends. Lister feels sorry for Rimmer and gives him some. It doesn’t end well!
This was nicely crafted. We are now starting to see the characters interact a little better with each other. And the Holly Joke was just wonderful! The next series would be even better!
Skutters are the Red Dwarf maintenance robots. They look like hover-mowers with long necks and a beak! They have some intelligence and it seems that they also have feelings.
The only nice GELF is a Pleasure GELF which looks like a big green blob. The rest are all baddies.
Simulants are Biomechanical killers created for a war that never took place. Some of them escaped the dismantling process and now they prowl around deep space searching for a foe worthy of their attention! They despise humans and all forms of humanoid life, believing them to be the vermin of the universe.
Mechanoids were created to do all the menial tasks that humans find so disagreeable. They are programmed to perform such duties as the ironing, cooking and cleaning.
