ParticipantGW…I can sympathise with your 70’s Rollerball dilemma, but Timecop? yes welcome to the hall of shame,we shall hang our heads together in shame.
To be fair though if we critisize each other too much, nobody is going to reveal their Distastefull yearnings so yea Timecop, given the subject…Great choice Mate!

ParticipantI’m not frightened of losing credibility,so I would say among the best endings for me was Terminator 3 Rise of the machines, simply because it didnt cop-out at the end,and there was indeed a Nuclear War,I have seen so many films and TV shows that have threatened disaster, only for them to be averted at the last moment.

ParticipantRudehousewives,You seem to be forgetting The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, red dwarf, and Blakes seven.
As for Torchwood though,I thought it was very dull and just too childish in its attempt to be adult, season two can not be any worse, but im not hanging out in anticipation for it.

ParticipantI must say,I thought it certainly had some similarities with Men in Black!….I also spotted Two almost direct Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy Quotes in the first episode………..But it must be said,im really enjoying what I am seeing develop with this show, and I Did not Like Men in Black at all!

ParticipantYea thats what keeps me coming back for more…Top site….only the Doctor Who site and Blakes 7 sites are really any good,I know exactly what you are saying about the ‘Scapers sites though,if you want any real info just come here instead

ParticipantTalking of “Aliens” im just trying to think of any other sequal’s were better than the Original…not many…its like music really, they keep re-doing old songs but never seem to better the Original,so any sequal which is superior to its Begginings really has to be something special

ParticipantRimmer is just the most cringe worthy man in the Universe,a sort of intergalactic Alan Partridge, but his character would not work half as well without Lister Kryton and The cat so im afraid I cant pick a favourite…I can tell you my least favourite though..Kachanski! by a mile
spooookie
ParticipantThere cant be one of us who agree’s with this list entirely, and indeed,I have never agreed with any top ten’s except my own,Bladerunner,Alien, and Star Wars(Empire Strikes Back) would all feature on mine but not in that order…and where was Aliens? my personal Favourite Film ever

ParticipantDespite two new and excellent Doctors,it still has to be Tom Baker top and Pertwee second for me,but that can still change….its obviously to do with whoever we grew up with as kids as to who is favourite…..many happy memories of Tom and John
spooookie
Participantlol,I have not seen it,but yea,I feel the roots of a conspiracy starting to grow 😉
spooookie
ParticipantHave you noticed how the Deep space nine Actors names are stranger than their Character ones?…Jake sisko-Cirroc loften..Miles o Brian-Colm Meany…..Kira Nerys-Nana Visitor….Quark-Armin Shimmerman…Ben sisko-Avery Brooks etc

Participant

I like the fact that it included the whole torchwood thing
Corvina,I am making the wild, and possibly worng assumption that you are also in England(Britain) What did you think of the first couple of episodes?
Personally,I very much enjoyed the Werewolf one,but was a little cold on the first Tennant episode of season 2
Actually I meant to quote Corvina,oh,and I spelt Wrong…Wrong

ParticipantApart from the odd moment this was spectacularly bad,as a fan of the series and the great man himself,I sincerely hope that the Cretins who made this will be The first against the wall when the revolution comes!

ParticipantCorvina,Roy Batty!..Excellent choice and nicely explained….YOWAYYO..My Dear Friend,I know that feeling of not seeing something everyone else appears to have seen, very frustrating, and not a little Maddening!
Fenchurch, well obviously we know each other anyway, but you always surprise me sweetheart :shock 😯
This is wonderful to see that there are so many of you capable of giving some sort of explaination as to your favourite Characters,do you all realise there is something of you in them?…of course you do.
This is my own personal favourite thread(of which I have posted),I find your descriptions insightfull, and in some cases very informative…You Lads and Lasses really now your Sci-Fi! thanks to all of you who have taken part and bringing it to life 😀spooookie
ParticipantAs for Red Dwarf, obviously, yes,it is a comedy show anyway, but it has some plots that put many serious shows to shame
And yea,it is one of those shows I can watch again and again, and even though I know whats coming,it still Cracks me up big time!
The Cat:” Why don’t we drop the defensive shields? ”
Kryten: “A superlative suggestion, sir. With just two minor flaws. One, we don’t have any defensive shields. And two, we don’t have any defensive shields. Now I realise that technically speaking that’s only one flaw but I thought that it was such a big one that it was worth mentioning twice.”spooookie
ParticipantSpock,Peri,The Prisoner etc,and there seems to be a bit of a Lexx thing going on here too!
im glad to see Avon seems as popular as ever, great characters die hard it would appear:)
This really interests me to see what people choose when pushed into just five characters,I think it not only says to people what you like, but also what YOU are like as people:)

ParticipantWell I watched the Christmas Episode on sunday and thought he was Superb!
I was a big fan of chris Eccles but from what I have seen of David I can see him bringing something extra to the part,The way he Questioned himself while swordfighting the Alien and got the right Mixture of Humour and seriousness in his Brilliantly delivered reminded me of Tom Baker
The great thing is it looks as though he’s going to play the Doctor for some time to come too,so we will be able to get a good deal more from his character
So yes,in my opinion he was Marvelous!spooookie
ParticipantI think the thing with Farscape was that it would one week show one of it’s major characters in absolute agony(Crighton being tortured by Scorpius) and then completely throw you off guard with something which Made you Laugh hard!
The excellent acting really shows through when they can turn you round like that in my humble opinion 😀spooookie
Participant
Hello all
I’m in desperate need of help as this is driving me crazy! I have a recollection of the following somewhere in the HGTTG world – there is an “animal” that arthur & ford come across that keeps evolving so fast it literally changes in front of their eyes. i’ve re-read the books again and it’s not there. i got hold of the bbc cd of the original radio series and had a listen and it’s not there. does anyone remember this and where i might find it……… i’m a “sad” biologist who wants to include HGTTG in my teaching!
yours hopefully
The Creatures are called Haggunenons and they appear in the Primary Phase of the Radio series “Fit the Sixth”

ParticipantWithout a doubt Dr Who……and it was the Daleks that did for me,followed very closely by The Sea Devils,I actually remember my Mum having to Bribe me with a bag of sweets so that I would get in the Bath…..Even then, she had to wait outside the door for me,and I was shouting “You still there Mum?” You still there?” Mum!……MUM!!

ParticipantOne of those Films I never expected to like,But I did!
As someone who lives on the Doorstep of Woking though(Woking being where The Original was based) I still get this Sinking feeling that it was set in Modern USA
I actually enjoyed Cruise’s acting quite a bit too,and the effects were done exceptionally wellspooookie
ParticipantAmmendment!
The Evolving creatures are in one of the Audiobooks,They appear just after Marvin opens the Door to the Spaceship after they leave the Restaurant….NOT Hotblacks ship mind you…this is a Warship, but il have to find the recording again to tell you what they are called
spooookie
ParticipantYES! the creature is in “Restaurant at the end of the Universe” I think 😕 it is actually a the captain of a race of beings on a battleship who evolve so fast they dont even recogise each other and the Hitchhikers take it in turns to sit in the captains chair to try to fool the other warships crew
what they dont realise is that the captain IS the chair!spooookie
ParticipantTalking of Bad CGI,I really hate the shots of the guy jumping/standing on a giant Monser’s back….for example, when obi-wan rides on the back of the craeture in episode 2,or worse still the bit in Starship troopers! 🙂
Shadowolf I hear where you are coming from…
Think Doctor Who where it is always telling us there is a HUGE Invasion army going about it’s Conquering business and only five Daleks turn up…But we just have to imagine they are all over the show 😯
As far as good CGI goes I am with anyone who said Lord of the Rings perhaps even Minority Report was decently done too,it is mainly the ones that have an over-relliance on it that put me off a little
Just sit back and close your eyes, then Imagine the Battle for Hoth Computer Generated onlyThen think how lucky we were that it was not 😀
