welcome jkd112. From the statistics I’ve heard, sadgeezer.com gets more hits then lexx.com. I’m not sure about scifi since there statistics aren’t broken up by different show pages. However (as its been expalined to me) many sad hits aren’t for the sadboard. In terms of on topic posts sad sees more traffic then scifi and lexx.com. But lexx.com has just been reborn and its future usage is unknown.

I just accessed the page now. No problems here.
The link: http://www.sadgeezer.com/cgi-bin/news/newspro.cgi

I originally had problems with my password and newspro. You may be experincing the same problem. Sad set it up so its a different password then what I normally use, and it’s very case sensitive! Copy and paste the password (sad should have sent it to you in an email (I got mine right after I became a mod)) to the password prompt box. And make sure your cookies are on so you never have to deal with it again!

Given the definition of palidrone, and your format of day/month – military time – year (in CE)The next one will be Feb 1st 2010. The are a lot of times during the day that this can occur. for instance 01:10, 02:20 … 05:50, 10:01, 11:11 … 15:51, 20:02 … 23:32

But if your reffering to yesterday’s occasion where all three sets are the same number and a palindrone, then this is the last time it wil ever happen. Unless we switch to a different clock or calender.

The last tiem this happened given the orginal condtions (excluding yesterday’s assorted times)was Feb 10th last year, again with a whole assortment of times.

But if your looking for the tripple set thingy again, then the last one was Jan 10th, 1001 at 10:01 am. Ironically most people back then didn’t even know what year it was! Nor did they have accurate time-keeping devices!

Of course this thing can occur again should the day be represented the American way of Month/Day instead Day/Month. Or other calenders could be used, different time keeping systems etc.

Its funny that you should bring up territorial and rude posters. When I made my first post here at the sadboard, the response to it was quite rude and it almost kept me from making another post. It was another week before I got the chutzbah to post another reply. Whereas my first post on scifi had alot of good friendly replies. My first impression was that sadboard was for hardcore scifi fans and veteran bboards posters, whereas scifi was more friendly to newbies. Well as time progressed I realized this wasn’t nessecarily true. I found that this place is really more friendly in general, and that that first guy was just a dick. Scifi is still a friendly place, but I’ve notied that if you say the wrong thing, people will come out of the woodwork to jump all over you. And I’m not talking about stupid trolls being themselves, but rather normal posters.

Lexx.com has just been reborn. There’s the old veteran posters, and then theres the new guys trying to become alpha male of the new forum. So there’s people who wan to affirm that they’ve been there for awhile and want respect from “their” bored, and then there’s the new guy trying to beat his way to the top. Which is worse, you tell me. I’m certainly not saying that everyone over there is like that, just a small but loud few.

There’s jerks where ever you go in life.

I don’t think I’m a mod for these forums, When I looked to see who else got these messages (I got 4, one for each forum) I noticed one was sent to flamegrape, and another to getbackboogie@aol.com, which I’m assuming is Dgree. Frey isn’t there, so my guess is that my eddress accidently got on the list instead of Frey’s.

I liked it up to the last five min. It was such a great parady of American suberbia. This episode annoyed a lot of people for that reason. They think that the Canadians beans are America bashing. I disagree, much like hte Simpsons, Lexx doesn’t descriminate about cultures. It mocks them all. America is sucha a large traget because we are the superpower, and our culture pervades all others. Hell the most recongized symbol in the world in the McDonalds Golden Arches. And what’s more American besides fast food?
Before the 11th that last scene would have been more funny. I almost got a chuckle out of the shear nonsense of it all.But satiracle senseless killing just isn’t as funny anymore. But that scene did have its moments, kai missfiring, the two kids at the end finding on another, and Stans comment about his definatly beign a type 13 planet.
As sgtdraino poitned out, they fianlly got home, and it was screwed up lexx style as always. Plus we goto see if Sad’s predictions of what the characters would be in real life was true or not. Overall I think Prime Ridge made up for 769.

A few days!? Try almost 2 weeks. And Squish and I started the whole thing with our ideas about the Great War, over 2 months ago. I haven’t been adding too much because of school, which I think may also be a problem for Hypatia. I’d like t see a general scifi fic fourm. Something for original scifi stories and teh adda line stuff that myself, Squish, Hypatia, and even DT, have been doing recently.

LEXX will be next week. The Chronicle which normally got 1.2 on Saturday nights, is being cancelled. Scifi may be dropping shows
which don’t pull a 1.0 or better in their Friday Prime slot. Here’s a list of past and current prime shows.

Black Scorpian- Ratings FAILURE! dropped mid season, Thank-you scifi
Jules Vern- Was to have a second season. Reruns were to start 9/17, the previous Tuesday changed that, not renewed
Farscape- ending 3rd season startign 4th season in April, bought through 5th season
LEXX- last season, ends in April
First Wave- poor ratings, and the producers wanted to end it. Finished in the summer
Outer Limits- season ended, I believe it will be back fo another season
SG1- Starts final season in June
The Chronicle- Good ratings on Sat, alright ratings on Fri, cancelled, fianle in April
Iman- poor writing in 2nd season lead to poor ratings, last episode just aired
Strange World- sucks imo, just aired ratings unknown
New Battlestar galactica- starts in fall(?) concurrent airings with partner FOX

Up in the air
B5:LotR despite dissapointing ratings, evidence indicates it may happen
LEXX spinoff (?)
I’ve also heard rumors for a few other shows, I can’t remeber any names right now. Some shows may be soinoffs of Outer Limits episodes

From what I can tell there is no reall word limit, at elast in the moderators forum there isn’t. I copied all the text from above 4x times and put it into a test thread with no problem. So if there is a limit of words per post, its very large! I doubt we have anything to worry about.

Two considerations,
#1 I’m a mod so my rules i.e. flood control are differnt from another user
#2 I performed this test on the moderators forum, which may have differnt posting rules then other forums. I doubt this is a real concern though.

Finally I knwo the board can crash if a thread gets too long, hence why FX is always making “thread name” pt 2 stuff
If someone has a very long story, this could occur, so a thread may have to be continued elsewhere, for board security.

One last thing I just tested, it is possible for a non-moderator to create a thread on the announcements forum. But it has to be done in a round-about way.

Thanks, that clarifies a lot. But Oak Ridge can’t have that many rednecks, can it? A prof told me stories of how when they first opened the lab and factories they got some of the illiterate teenage hicks to run the reactors. But that was before the AEC, NRC and their 4 trillion rules and regulations. Besides having that many scientists and engineers (especially nukes , we are the smartest brand of engineer (shamless self-plug)) should rub off on the inbreeds.     Even though its not my forum(s) Here’s my two cents;
I love the idea of putting a list of links above the forums. It was help me out a lot, sicne now I only need to get to the moderators forum to get to the /mods page and newswire page. I’m too lazy to bookmark it, or I’m too lazy to remember to do it; one or the other. Not to get off topic but I think this should be doen with the other forums.
I agree with the idea of having a seperate “fanfic” category, with several forums within it. Having sperate forums could eliminate your situation of mods disagreeing. Has such an instance ever ocured before? Each mod could have their own forum within the category, with major forums having two or three mods. I’m not nessacarily advocating such an idea, but it is an option.
Some of the rules in these new forums should be carried over from the other forums. I don’t belive porn, foul language (the board stops that usaully), flaming etc, isn’t permmitted on the other forums, so why should this be any different? Although considering the sensitive nature of some of the new forums (posters and their clones) new specific rules should be adopted. The OPEC rules seem like a good start. I’m also 95% sure that you can configure the board to show the rules as the top post everytime. I’ve seen other UBB boards do this. There’s no need to make everyone scroll down a few pages before they can view the posts.
One of the things I dispise about scifi.com is that people post one chapter at a time (of their 400 chapter novel) as a seperate thread. Thus flooding the board. I know this is a result of not being able to post more then x number of words per post, luckily our limit is much larger then theirs. (Mine is bigger then yours ) Also scifi.com doesn’t have flood control. So this may also discourage posters from posting two paragraphs at a time. OT but can the flood control time be lowered, or must it stay at 120 sec? I think 90 sec would be better. A rule should be that a story that originates in a thread, should remain in that thread! Just hit reply to add more to the story.
An idea for another forums should be a clone forum for CF and CT. My ideas for forums are lexx 5 scripts, clone, one word story addition thingys, and general fanfic. Of course you or I may think up others.
I think that in the beggining the forum will require a little maitnence. Fanfic has always been a touchy subject here. I have no problem with it so long as its kept in its respective forums. I expect to see a little resistance in the beggining, even a minor flame war from some die hards at scifi.com, claiming that we’re moving in on their domain. But like the angst forum, it will die down in a week or three. However, I believe that in the beginnign month or two , the mods may have to move threads around to put them in their proper place (there’s a place for everything, and everything in its place ) this may include copying/deleting chapter 2-7 so that they’re replies to chapter 1. After a little while though, like any forum, the maitence will be minimal. Unless its the contriversal angst forum.
I don’t hink that script/fic addtions should be discussed unless its really “out there” even by lexx standards. One problem is that this baord is viewed by people spread out over at least 18 time zones. Austrailia-California. There not enough tiem ot excahnge emails over mundane/simple things, and have to wait for the other guy to wake up and reply. Unless your an insomniac/collge student/both like Mary Beth and I, and are up 20 hours of the day. Then soemthing like that is feasible. Luckily the 3 mods are only in EST and CST. An hour isn’t too bad.

I couldn’t even tell you when its going to be rerun in America! LOTR was made by and for SciFi so they have first dibs. SciFi UK isn’t airing it any time in the next two months, so you probably have a while to go. If your lucky, you may have a VCR that can read US videos, and then find someone who hasn’t already sent their copy to another country.

I’d have to agree with JJ, I liked the Final Fantasy movie. But I’ve never played any of the games, and I can’t stand anime. True figuring ou what those thigns were was frustrating at first, but I thought they put a nice twist on two already cliched topics.

Wow this an old thread! I remember reading an interview with Jerry Doyle on scfi.com from awhile ago and he mention that he was runign for congress. Does anyone know if he won?

Yes Bruce Willis and Jerry Doyle would make one kick ass team. Die Hard 4 anyone?

I haven’t decided yet, but the official date will be released soon enough. As for how announcing appearances, that’s a question that myself and the committee will decide Friday.

I’d just like to remind everyone that you need to let us know by midday Friday if the 20th or 13th works for you. We need this to make reservations at hotels! Your not commiting to anything yet. I know its too early to commit or get psyched up about, but we just need a round number. Honest if you back out in two months we won’t stalk you until you agree to come! So can everyone who hasn’t already, please take the poll, reply to this email or contact me.

Yes I did, DId you know Bill Mumy was also in a DS9 episode. He played a communications engineer. Him and his platoon were defending and tryign to decode a Jem H’dar relay station, they captured a few months earlier. Yes he died, somewhere in the middle.

Andreas Katsulas was on Star Trek TNG. He played a romulan comander, sort of. The character he played was really a hologram made by a child; The child wanted keep Riker on that planet to be his father.

Sorry I feel really foolish

No prob, I’ll just repost it.
I pretty much said that I agree that a LEXX story section would be good for the growth of the sadboard. New blood, new opinions. Degrequeen will make a good mod for that forum, and I too feel that Flamegrape will make a good moderator.

I also mentioned that I’ll try to help anyway I can with the new forum and its designs. But only on a limited level, I don’t know that much about web design. But I can solve problems, like in figuring out why soemthign isn’t working right. I’m also busy with school and uncon.

As for giving credit or blame to me for making technical suggestions. I didn’t make that many. But if it comes to blame, I’m blaming it on the dude who doesn’t speak english.

Thanks Sad.
It looks like it’s going to be the 20th of July. Unless a whole bunch of people decide the the 13th is better by friday, or a few actors(actresses) say that date is bad. If all goes well, we’ll know by Friday afternoon(mst)

But it looks like it finally all coming together!
