This information could prove useful if Sad ever makes a Lexx ship section.

By the way, if the energy sheets don’t expand in space, then Brunnis-2 is only about 250 km wide, based on the size of the sheets when they are seen to impact compared to disc’s diameter.

Why not ask Sad if you could make a Lexx ship section. You’ve already done 99% of the research, all thats left is the picking out pictures.

From what I can figure the energy sheets have to expand. After watching IWHS again they seem to. For an obligatory scientific explanation: light dispereses as it moves through space. becasue it starts on a non flat surface, all of it’s component photons don’t travel parrallel to one another. Lasers do a good job of condensing the photons to an almost parrallel path, but deviation certainly occurs. Test this out with your pen-laser at home kids! As you move farther way the dots grows. Since the forshadow shot energy or soem kind of light it too must have had its discharge expand.

    Ditto on seeing that episode.

Yes I do love hearing his thoughts on Lexx. I liked/agree with his theory that Brizon was on of the Ericans rescued off “that over ehated rock” by the ostral-b, along with Mantrid. Those two then designed the lexx, whose plans were interecepted by the Divine Order… and the rest is lexx history.

I personally don’t care if FF, CF or CT is posted here. So long as it’s in its own forum.

Your in absolute love with the new rant board aren’t you?

Personally I don’t think its slow at all. Except between 1am-3am my time or 8am-11am gmt. But I’m on a t1. Loading all the graphics takes about 3/10 sec to do so I don’t view it as a porblem. But then again when I’m at home, on a modem, its takes until the next cycle of time to load.

I can easily read everything, the colors are almost opposites and thus are easy to read.

I like having old posts at the end, so that I can read the earlier posts that lead to them. I’m not too lazy to scroll.

Flamegrape: I’m not going to crash the board and quote your doctral thesis, I mean long post; but I agree with everything you said there and how you wrote it. My first impression of lexx on the web was from scifi.com and lexx.com. I was not impressed and almost gave up hope on Lexx. I was still new to the show and was trying to get backround on it. I accidently found sadgeezer.com thourgh a link from a page that was linked from lexx.com, and from here I found out all the backround I needed. From then on, I’ve always loved the show. If my story is a typical representation of newbies, then others may not have been so lucky as to have found a real lexx website.

People just have different tastes as to what they want in a BB, I don’t have a problem with Headgehog or anyone who likes
    Sads/ dislikes Scifi…

While Aleck and DalekTek790 have hourly arguments, I find them funny, entertaining and thought prokovoking. From what I can tell they usually start as a result of discussing a scifi topic. Someone then brings up a RL or philosophical point that isn’t quite scifi and then they passionatly discuss the hell out of it.

I wouldn’t say that I dislike DT or anything like that. And I don’t think that he lies all the time. He just says what he believes. He has potential, but he just thinks too fast and the words don’t always come out right. I used to do that a lot when I was younger, and I still sometimes say things too quickly, but I’m young and still learning. We’re both young and I think it’s just a matter of not enough experince.

I do have some ill feelings toward scifi.com, but they’re not that strong. Another problem I have with that board, which Aleck just pointed out, is how posts disappear too fast. Its not worth replying to something noone’s going to read. I never really got attached to anyone there, so I don’t have any loyalties to that board. But I do keep in touch with some people who post there, but it’s more of a result of uncon friendships. And [gasp] some of them are in APEC.

Finally, is it just me or have we left the fanfic topic already? What a way to sart the angst thread; spinning attention from one complaint about a topic with yet another rant about a different topic

I don’t read fanfics. When I first visited scifi.com I read a few and didn’t care for them very much. IMHO they went completely against the show. Stuff like Kai coming back to life, Xev and Stan gtetting together, that kind of stuff. For months I just ignored anythign with ff,cf,ct in front of it and read only the stuff that seemed relevant to the discussion of the show. What annoyed me was all the flaming, trolling, namecalling and general 2nd grader behavior that erupted in scifi.com everytime Lexx wasn’t shown on a Friday. To me all the arguing seemed petty and arbitrary. As a non-comfrontationalist such behavior annoys me. So I turned my attention away from scifi.com and devoted mostof my time to the sadboard. Whose discusses seemed much more intelligent and thought provoking. The arguments that go on here, to me, seem more resonable and mature.
I still visit scifi.com, about once a week; but I rarely post anything there. I’m more of a lurker. Another thing that turned me fromthat board was the lack of discussion posts. When I visit there, it seems as if it’s 90% fiction, and the rest are birthday annoucements and personal mesasges. Only 1 or 2 posts seem lexx relevent.

    ****

As for the CF and CT (I just learned what CT is from this post, how f***ing bizarre!) and can’t understand how something can be so regulated in a lexx universe. IMHO things with lexx seem much more spontaneous than structured. Having strict rules just seems to go against the spirit of lexx. Does this make any sense or am I just rambling?

    ****

Finally, at uncon, everybody was so friendly to each other. To my knowledge there ws no arguments or name calling or anything negative amongst lexxians up there. What the hell happened?

Oh yeah something I forgot to mention in my earlier post. Playing games are fun. Whether it be board games, sports, or other forms of entertainment. Other primates play games with each other. Lion cubs play “roughhouse” together. Bears splash around in the water. Okay maybe the playing serves a purpose and it is to get in better physical shape. But for the most part I think we and other speices play games for fun. Would you agree that we and other enjoy having fun? If we eliminate joy would that make us emotionless beings or computers?

Come to think of, sex is fun. Sex is lots of fun. So couldn’t it be considered a game of sorts. I’ve already established we like games. So unless we lose our emotions and certain neuro-chemicals, we’ll always enjoy having sex.
    ***
As Aleck mentioned earlier if in your book people don’t have sex, then thats your artistic right. But its also very science fiction. I’m also reminded of something you posted in respones to a statement I made “After a nuclear holocaust only roaches and Cher will survive”, you said that I shouldn’t steal your novel ideas. Is this book your writing now, related to that?

I never said anything about genetic manipulation, either. From a purely logical point of view sex would have no biological purpose if reproduction is done through cloning. The abandonment of the practice would be cultural, not genetic. Perhaps some members toward the beginning would require processes like therapy, instrumental conditioning, or even drugs to eliminate urges (as was done in Terrestria), but it would be done.

18 year old college freshman, I’ll buy that. Average 18 year old college freshman, I doubt it. Speaking as a 19 year old college sophmore, thinking about sex at this age is not only natural, its abnormal to find someone who doesn’t think about often. Lets face it college is famous for sex, drugs, music, inhumane test(BTW finals are coming up good luck ), staying up all night, impossible homework, drinking, partying and sex.

If you have certain noble beliefs, than thats you. It’s good that some people still have high values today, and it is commendable that you stand by your beliefs. But please don’t assume that everyone else shares your philosophy. Especially on the sadboard. Lets face it, Lexx and Red Dwarf will neve exactly be clean family shows. Sadgeezer even has a message on his site saying

Well there ws Col. McQueen and another main character from Space: Above and Beyond who were clones, or at least “grown” humans. And I may be wrong but didn’t they make clones of the SG1 crew in case of death of a member(s). Wasn’t Col. O’Neil killed and they replaced him with Col. O’Neill? It was so long ago I can’t remember. Dr. Bashir from ST-DS9 was gentically altered when he was very young. I’m not sure if you’d count that as cloning though. I believe that they also cloned a hero somewhere in Sliders. Then theres also a handful of people in “Brave New World”

My opinion as to why clones are always portrayed as evil is that they aren’t natural. And many people view the unnatural as wrong.

I think after a few generations on entirely cloned reproduction, sex would be essentially forgotten.
SEX WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! Every animal has sex. Everything from insects to fish to primates. Heres another shocker for you, homosexuallity does occur in nature. It occurs amongst the alpha-male and other males with Congo chimp tribes. In addition a spiecies of sea worm has both sex organs. Conception occurs when one stabs another with his “weapon”. Oh yeah humans didn’t forget sex in “Brave New World”

I do not believe that sexual appetite is something common to all humans
Humans think about sex every 6 seconds. mating is a natural urge and practice. See above. It’s need is so strong its at the base of Maslow Heirchy of needs. y’know right next to food and water.

as I have never felt it
BULLS**T! Unless you’ve been a enuch since birth, have you?

and I’ve always been taught that having such feelings would be bad.
Sex is natural. And unless your a clone, test tube baby, or artifical insemination; YOUR PARENTS HAD SEX! Obviously at least 1 of them exhibited some of those feelings for a brief moment!

Nothing personal, but dude, use some common sense!

The head segment that emerges from the Cluster is almost exactly one third the full diameter of the planetoid. I calculated the segment to be 3.6 lexxes wide (I rounded to 3.5 because it’s really more like 3.3-3.9, not exact). So that gives the Cluster a diameter of close to 11 lexxes. It may have been 12 lexxes, but I find it very unlikely that it was any bigger.

Okay, your proof works. But your basing your entire proof upon the assumption that the cluster was 10-12 lexxes. You then made a whole bunch of calculations that circles in on themselves. All you proved was 10 lexxes=10 lexxes

How did you make the assumption that its 10 lexxes long? When the Lexx flew on hte cluster (IWHS) it certainly moved more then 10 of its lengths before reaching space.

How’d you figure the cluster is 11 lexes wide. I’m watching the end of Giga shaodw now and it dwarfs the Lexx. Defiantly more then 11 lexes! And since the giga shadow was inside the cluster, the Cluster must have been much larger to encase it.

scifi.com had a salter diagram of the Lexx up about a year ago. It presented all the parts and their measurements. I just looked and they took it down. As soon as I can find some space I’ll upload it so everyone can view it again.

From head to tail its 10km long. The head is 2.4 km tall. The head/body is 4.2 km long. The tail is 4.6 km long and the thing at the end is 1.2 km long. The tail and thing at the end is 0.56 km tall. The tail is made up of 25 segments each 182 m long. Plus 50m of filler by the thing at the end.

Albuquerque, New Lexxico; lol. Not that I’m really arguing with Albuquerque, hell it would be very cheap for me, and I could provide rooms a few others for free as well, but there isn’t a whole lot to do down here in the middle of the desert. But now that I think about there is enought that could be done for tourists over a weekend.
The funny thing about USCon and New Mexico is that the average american thinks that its not even a state and that a passport is required to get in. (True) The Lexxorida Keys sounds good though.

I would think no earlier that year 2006. Seeing how they take their sweet a|ss time to get Season 2&3 on DVD.

Given that a new dvd comes out every 2 months, the next dvd is in Jan 2002 for s2v5, 4 dvds for s3, I would assume we would see the first s4 dvd in (4 dvds * 2 month intervals + 2 months separtion)(Eight months after Jan) November 2002 or sometime thereafter. But I’m just hypothesizing.

I would love to know if anything *might* be happening.

Plans are in the works for next years uncon. There is a small comittee of 3.5 people (don’
t ask) currently trying to work it all out. You can expect a formal statement within a week or so.

As for Australia, I remeber gettign some info on an Aussie Con for sometime next summer. When I find out more I’ll relay it on.

We will try as hard as possible to get as many cast/crew, amongst other things, there as we can.

Would it be to much of a bother to move this topic to the Conventions Forum?

Scifi US has shown eps 4.01-4.10 Little Blue Planet through Magic Baby

Space (Canada) has seen up to 4.13 769. They have started their hiatus, and given their scheduale on the web, they won’t be showing new eps until at least late January.

Scifi UK just started last thursday with LBP

Yes he has, trying to drop Stan to his death, and flying away with out the astronauts.
