Not necessarily, Lexxathon.com advertises at every site the auctions they’ve been running as well. even though they’re not currently mods at Lexx.co. I’ts all a matter of interpretation. Even at sites that have no ‘symbiotic relationship’. :)
Not me??? 🙁 Oh poo. 🙂
You should take a look at the archives of the Sci-fi and KEB boards sometimes, they’re riddled with posts from people alternate nicks, some of them you readily know. ;), not to mentionl this board as well.

Perhaps the folks posting here are doing it for reasons of fairness, not wanting opinions to be formed before the site was seen.
But if you’re not interested, then I guess it’s not worth discussing :)
I know the sci-fi board is riddled with fake nicks. Tis very depressing. About a year ago I was distressed to find that tons of the nicks posting there were the same 10 or 12 people. Sigh. 🙁 Even worse??? The xtra nicks were mainly used to flame other posters. I never much tracked the KEB board when I was there, but I will take your word for it.

So it is situations like the scifi trolling that make me wary of people with multiple nicks.
Others that are mods here also go to all the other sites and gleefully post their sites over and over and over again, even for the purposes of soliciting MONEY from loyal Lexx fans.
Oooo, oooo let me guess, that would be…. ME! 😀 Yep, I do.

As someone told me a long time ago, before I even started working for Lexx Fandom, “Frey you are everywhere.” Muhahahah. But seriously, I would imagine that the reason I do not collect much grief from the admin and mods of the various boards it that they know I am working for the ‘Loyal Lexx’ fans. Also a lot of time I either tie back to the various sites I am promoting on, or have assisted the ‘Out of Country’ Lexx faithful of those sites. And lastly, I suppose the fact that I have a ‘static’ site which sometimes brings up a discussion topic rather than a site which might drain off posters from the main sites may also has something to do with it.
Perhaps the person advertising the site does post here on a regular basis, but has a different nick for that board for a reason.
Gosh I hope not, that would be pretty crappy. I am not fond of people having different nick on different boards. I am old and feeble and I find that very confusing. And I definitely think that a person should not have different nicks an individual board.

It might make a good sheltered posting home for the die hard droolers who bristle if a 790, Xev, Stan or Prince fan dare to post that the Kai or Twack are not perfection personified. Ahyhoo, seemed like an nice niche site that may possibly give some of the Kai yahoo groups a run for their money. : ) Especially, since you can never discuss the delicious dead one enough. 😀

He is a wanker and I think perhaps he need to be told that the incessant promoting his site must come to an end. It has nothing to do with scifi cult fiction and he should peddle it on some of the gun-nut, republic of texas, and snuff stuff r us sites.

And no, I do not think the occasional off hand inclusion of sentence like ‘he stared down to earth from his porta potty’ are scifi cult fiction tie ins.

Naw. I don’t normally mind people posting their sites. (well except for fatguy who is totally obnoxious and relentless about it), although I can see where the advertising of forums is not to be encouraged.

Normally, people are just excited about their sites and want to share them with like minded people. I know I certainly would never post in a ‘general’ post your site forum, or indeed in a b5 forum.

No Axes were involved Evil. They were just at the end of the line on the series. Word is that Mr. Donovan wanted to get enough eps in the bag that the show could go into syndication, which is where the long haul money is apparently. Did people have other things they wanted to work on? More than likely. Was MMM Twack bored and ready to move on? Apparently. Word was that Twack really wasn’t keen on doing S4 but wanted to see Lexx through to the end.

Could they have continued even keeping the ending they had? No Problem there! 😀 This is after all Lexx. Where as we all know…. death is never forever. 😀

Public record information retrevial is one of the good things about the internet that people who, like Xenia, who do not spend a lot of time surfing may not realize. Of course data mining is one of the bad things. 😛

Actually, I had heard, before the other posts, that a few fans who were concerned about Xenia’s health had done some public recording checking looking for information on the severity of the accident.

What they did and did not find, and whether or not it collaborated with the other information that later emerged, I did not, and will not speculate on. But, I will say that the world is becoming a scary place to fib in. 🙂

We now live in a world where anyone who knows the right bases, works with public records in their job, or has a few bucks to commission a search, can bust your lying little hiney in a heart beat. 😉

Good? Bad? Annoying perhaps, but over all good I think. For every person busted for trying to slip out of something with a little white lie, you also have some maniac who has anger management or credit scamming tendencies not setting up housekeeping with one of your siblings. 🙂
(I wish I had noticed this thread earlier. This particular forum is new to me. I started reading SadBoard again on 17 September and so I didn’t notice it. All I saw was a locked thread pertaining to this subject. So I took it upon myself to reopen the issue in a new thread in the SciFi Angst forum. That caused a lot of confusion and everybody and their dog yelled at me.)
Yes, and I noticed that when you started catching a bit of flak for your comments and attitude you deleted the thread. 🙂

One of the many things you complained about in that thread was that “I am the other moderator of the fan fiction forums. And unfortunately, I was not consulted about this issue at all.”

Well let us see about this one. You left the board months earlier after flaming posts on Sadgeezer, Sci-Fi and Lexx.com concerning me and what I was ‘doing’ to the Lexx Stars with their DragonCon appearance. You then wrote numerous emails to ‘everybody and their dog’ slandering me and HDS.

Having done that, I am amazed that you would think that I would ever contact you about anything. Were you on fire, I would not bring the location of a bucket of water to your attention. 😉

I personally had no problem with you prior to MegaCon. That you had a bit of a melt down at that event was, I felt, your personal business. I certainly was not about to discuss it on the boards. Imagine my surprise when you posted to this very forum, six pages of complaints and lies about Mr. Lowe and HDS. I was further amazed when you then posted a few days later (after you had calmed down) that certain things had been ‘explained’ to you, and it was okay now. Funny thing though, all the stuff that was ‘suddenly okay’ was stuff you knew about prior to the original post. Go figure. 😉

That you were a bit upset that not everything went as you would have liked at MegaCon was understandable. Disappointment when life does not go exactly as we would like, is one of the bummers of being alive. But then you turned on everyone involved, including apparently me, since you never contacted me directly about ‘your concerns’ after that convention, even when they involved me. All that said to me, was that, “Marc does not play well with others.”

When you went into your DragonCon melt down, you sent some pretty nasty stuff to several people ‘demanding’ answers. Again, you never contacted me. You threw a total fit over not doing the ‘Party Page for Lexx DragonCon’ when I had a page devoted to all aspects of Lexx at DragonCon for over a year. You were approached for the MegaCon party page by HDS because I declined it, wanting to focus all my efforts on DragonCon. So my already having a Lexx DragonCon Info page was not news to you.

Mr. Lowe, forgetting about my DragonCon page, contacted Mothbreeder about doing a Party Page. Yet he did not contact you. Perhaps he remembered the rant you sent him over MegaCon and decided to go with someone a bit easier to get along with. When this arrangement was presented to, me unlike other people, I did not go postal. 😉 Of course Mothbreeder is a pretty easy going guy and I welcomed the opportunity to have one less thing to do. I was also sure that if I made suggestions or pointed out errors on the page, Mothbreeder, unlike others, would not insist on having a personal note from god before he changed things. As it turns out I was right.

Which brings us back to your last public attack on me and your lament that I “did not contact you.” 🙂 Why be upset, I was merely following your lead. 😉

You have noticed (and indeed commented on) the fact that I have not responded to anything you said in the posts deriding me for my handing of the forums or the whole DragonCon thing. Hopefully you are not so far gone in delusional land that you imagine that I fear to debate with you. 😀

I do not respond to your posts because; There is no point in arguing with the righteously self centered, even when you win, you lose. 😉 I also not believe in rewarding bad behavior with the attention it craves. And lastly, I do not believe a Sadgeezer moderator should be involved in, let alone try to start a public ‘Flame Wars.’ Not on this site, and most definitely not on other sites. (which is why this is here, and not on the open forum) Bummer that you did not feel similarly restrained.

I loved the Pratchet Soul Music DVD that I saw. I am a MAJOR pratchet fan, as is Tree. (HDS’s Wife) And we both agreeded that they ‘nailed’ it when they produced that DVD.

The charaters were great, they looked and sounded exactly as we thought they would. With Susan Sto Helit (Death’s Granddaughter) being so on target, it was scary. 😀

They stayed true to the story and put in as many ‘in’ jokes as would fit. While Aleck, was not excited about the animation, it was fine. I at least did not notice myself becoming distracted by it. And, trust me, I do find myself noticing stuff like that.

Please Aleck, we want more Pratchet!

When I get a one paragraph story, from a poster who has previously stated on another board that their first effort was ‘to test the limits of tolerance’ on the Sadboard, I general know where I stand with them.

So having one post to test our tolerance (which got deleted by flame) and now a one paragraph ‘Story’ detailing excrement that was incidently without odor, I am fairly confident that I am not dashing the hopes of a person who poured their heart and soul into what they consider to be their opus. 😉

Sure people break rules by accident, but then others merely are testing our patience and looking for attention.

And as FX will tell you, early this morning my patience was not at it’s high water mark. 😀 StupidSpouseDog!!! 😛

    Rules….

Well most people know where the line is. And then …. others know exactly when they cross it. In fact the second group usually knows them by chapter and verse.

Problems normally occur when the person wanting to cause strife skates right over the edge of the rule in question. Not enough to really do any damage, but just enough to let you know they were there.

This lets you have a choice of two things, ignoring the problem, which will eventually piff off the non-rule-breakers. Since they can abide with the rules and get mad because you are letting ‘X’ get away with this petty behavior.

Or you can come down on them for multiple tiny infractions. In which case you then have to expend large amounts of energy explaining and pointing out said rules, the fact that they know said rules, how they trangressed this time and why you are not ignoring them even though the violation was petty.

This is generally rewarding them with the attention they crave and reinforcing the behavior that started the whole mess in the first place.

Or to say it more briefly… 😉 the tighter the rules, the more defined the edge, the more challenge it is for the rules lawyers to break them.

Is there a profanity lock? I have never noticed, but then I usually don’t type it out. (I swear in real life, but usually use stuff with asterixs in it on line. (like b*tch or “Sugar” instead of the other word.) Weird huh?

I would suggest a bit of identification and emotional over tone when doing long sections of naritive

You wrote>>>>”Zael have you looked in the mirror lately? You can’t take care of yourself. I don’t know if the school board will allow it.”
“You’re security chief Jack, can’t you do something? I need Mireille here with me. I know you don’t want to lose her either. This isn’t America.”
“I’ll call Ledo right now and tell him we’re taking her out. First I’ll call my boss, and tell him what we’re doing. Jared will probably think it’s a good idea.”
    “Thank you.”
“Zael, do you think, maybe we could all have dinner together to talk about this.”
    “With Jared and Ledo?”
    “You, Mireille and I.”
    “Yeah, sure. At the house?”
“Tonight at 20? Do you think she’ll show up by then?”

    ******
Unless I concentrated, I was loosing track of who was saying what… I shouldn’t have to keep track of the players in the conversation, and I think that a little emotional cueing would be helpful. Something like this perhaps? Also I think you need a space between statements when the characters change. It gives a visual clue that a change has occurred and makes it easier to read.

    ******

theFrey suggested >>> “Zael,” Jack said exasperated. “Have you looked in the mirror lately? You can’t take care of yourself. I don’t know if the school board will allow it.”

“You’re security chief Jack, can’t you do something? I need Mireille here with me. I know you don’t want to lose her either. This isn’t America.”

Jack sighed inwardly. “I’ll call Ledo right now and tell him we’re taking her out. First I’ll call my boss, and tell him what we’re doing. Jared will probably think it’s a good idea.”

    “Thank you.”

“Zael, do you think, maybe we could all have dinner together to talk about this.”

She frowned, “With Jared and Ledo?”

    “No, you, Mireille and I.”

“Yeah,” she shrugged. “Sure. At the house?”

“Tonight at 20?” Jared asked as he prepared to leave on a good note for a change. “Do you think she’ll show up by then?”

“Oh my god, someone is posting in this forum, here let me ‘mark’ it.” ??? What is up with that?

Oh and it was certainly not a literary effort, being only one paragraph. While there are some writers that convey worlds of meaning just a few words, yours only conveyed to me how disrespectful you are of this site and the efforts of others who are truly attempting some creativity.

But then excrement has never been a topic that caught my fancy.

Well, you went though this same thing about a year ago when you were over at Lexx.com. At that time if I recall you felt it necessary to break away from the net. What lessons did you learn that time? How is it that you are once again in that situation?

Post con let down I am sure.

As I said to all in the other thread, reports are good and their is certainly room on the net for many, many view points.

I already have a nice report from Mike_L to put in the Sadgeezer convention report, and will welcome anyone else’s input over the next week or so before I get with FX (suprise!) and we pop out a finished report for the convention area ‘ala’ Halifax.

Bebop, let me know if you want any of the stuff from you very informative report incorportated.

Don’t be silly. I have never had anyone on this board express that sentiment to me about Sad. And I have e’d and chated with tons of ‘geezers.

Well he is definately getting a bunch-o-press. I told him he needs to contact one of those look alike agencies and do a few parties before the Sparrow craze cools. He definately has the personality for walking into a room full of strangers and being outrageous. 😉 http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=sideboard/gpatl03/dcon

You know what would be fun, why don’t a few people get together and post a joint report in the Review/Conventions area?

One thing I noticed when we did the Hali report is that people noticed different things and the multiple views were interesting…. not to mention less work to any *one* poster. If anyone is interested in this kind of a project, let me know. I would be happy to assist in blending the reports together and for the final edit.

Yes, it was an excellently good weekend. While of course things did not go exactly as planned (when do they ever??? 😉 ) we all did well and had fun.

As FX says, many thanks to the Cast and to Lloyd and Baily for getting the main attraction there. 🙂

Lots of hard earned thanks to HDS, Mothbreeder, Trini and also to Aleck and Valdron.

We of course greatly appreciated all the people who supported us in the raffles like Mike_L, Barabbas, Lubka, Jim Davis, Woofmom and all the others. And those who donated items to be raffled like Pet, Lloyd, Figdress, Brian, Jane, Lubka and Logan.

And Trini I know will want to send a big shout out to the FX, Mike_L, and Lubka who pitched in extra bucks to make the party so cool. And while she would never mention it, Trini also pitched in a lot of bucks over and above her hard, hard work, but gosh did it work out fabulously. No one left until after they closed the bar at 12:30 and even then it took til after two for most to leave. (not me mind you. I turned into a pumpkin at about 12:35)

And while I will write more after I have had some sleep. Preliminary pics with virtually no write up at http://www.thefrey.com/USconInvadesDragonCon2003.htm

Sad, it looks good. and is still screams as “SADGEEZER”

In fact it took me a minute to realize why the page had loaded so fast. 😀 It still has our look and feel.
