Thanks Sad, now its working. I must have made a typo or something.

Don’t worry I wasn’t planning on puttign up anything yet, just wanted to take a quick look at the controls.

One last unimportant thing; In the SG-1 forum it has moderator under my name, but every where else it has me down as Commited Sadgeezer. Is this normal?

OK, so someone inform me the last episode shown in America and the UK – because I’ll bet that we here in Australia are WAY behind, as usual. Try not to give away too many plot details. We recently saw Apophis die (again), the SG1 get transported 10,000 (ish) light years away with Sam’s dad, and Teal’c reverting to a loyal servant of Apophis. Then Teal’c’s teacher performed some ritual and brought his memory back… ring any bells?
Hopefully I’m not too far behind!

I think I saw that one last season. The last episode that was shown on network tv was “The Other Side”. It featured DS9’s Rene Ambjoinis(?), screw I’m never attempting to spell that again. It was about SG-1 visitign a planet were a great civil war is occuring. I won’t say much else without spoiling it for you.
Another episode may have been shown this apst weekend, but it wasn’t show in the Philadelphia area, I doubt it was shone in others seeign as it was a major holiday weekend in the states.

I wasn’t so nice abou that ep. Vlad quick death was too unconvincing, they spent a handful of episodes building her up then killing her off, no way!
    I give it a meager 21,068 out of 10

Well whatever the stars inthe nearest star system are called, I know one is a white dwarf because it was only detected by novae. Hence why we can’t see the other, unless durign a nova.

But, I’ve always liked Scott Bakula

7 of 9 and T’Pol(?) is just blatent T&A, I always imagined Vulcans in robes, like in First Contact.

As fro NX-01 looking more advanced then everything but Enterprise E, I’m goign to have to group that with the Klingons looking more alien as TNG and DS9 advanced, escpecilly compared to TOS. I think it has more to do with advances in special effects and set design then “Star Trek Culture”. If TOS had what we have now, it his owuldn’t be an issue. I do like how DS9 explained the crappy Klingon look in there tie in to Trouble with Tribbles. Worf said, “We don’t talk about it with outsiders”.

As for Scott Bakula. I’ve ALWAYS been a fan of his. Everythign from Quantum Leap, his cameos on Murphy Brown to Enterprise

My rant about Enterprise is how it started off well but now it’s boring and seems like continuation of Voyager plot. Minus the delta quadrant thing.

But I’m sure the writers of Star Trek thought that the “Battle of Wolf 359” sounded much more interesting than the “Battle of DM+36 2147”. Besides, Wolf 359 is a RED DWARF star, a worthless burning ember. No one would bother settling it or defending it.

(I’ve been working on a 3d starmap of all the stars in “sector 001” for many years now. Currently, I have a model that I built in 3d Studio MAX.)

Don’t forget Beta-Centari which is a white dwarf and sistar star to Proxima-Centari. Ever wonder why the proxima is there?

Wolf may not be a worthless burning ember. At only about 7.7 light years from earth its a perfect target for colonization. It’s a single star system so it can have planets, and it has simular characteristics to Sol, our sun. While no planets have been discovered around it, it hypothesized that earth-like planets may exist there. In LBP Kai mentions the nearest star system is 7 ly away. He may have been refering to Wolf.

I wouldn’t worry about physics on Lexx

Haven’t we learned that lesson about 40 times from past science questions? Don’t get me wrong, I love discussing the physics of Lexx, but the beans obey the laws of the universe at their own leisure.

Not really! Something as massive and large as the lexx would require more then a few particle accelerators in its tail to move straight or even all that fast. Having such a weak propulsion system near its x-y center of gravity wouldn’t apply much of a torque ,for turning, as it would if it were located in other places, like on the body. Plus the propulsion system is to too off center in the x-z or y-z planes, so it will just cause the ship to torque in an upward direction. Other direction thrusters would be required.

Also sicne its so massive it gravitation attraction with other bodies would not be trivial. In the case of fire/water it would have lost its orbit almost immediatly without it firing thrusters at the right time and place! And since the lexx had no fuel or propellant at that time it couldn’t ahve corrected it orbit every few minutes. This wouldn’t be as much a problem around a single planet. But the pull of two near equal gravities in such close proximity would have twisted it orbit into instability.
In a single planet envioment, asteriods, comets and other space junk is routinely captured into orbit. Just look at Mars’ two “moons”. They were probably once space junk from the asteriod belt.

Lexx would be so massive that it would attaract smaller bodies to it such as artifical satillites and space rocks. I imagin eit would be bombarded with crap regurarly. It’s massive size would also cause a tiny wobble in other plantes, moons, stars etc. It may even affect tides on a planet!

Finally, this has been mentioned before, but fire/water would have torn each other apart with their gravitational pulls, almost instantly, and have made another new single planet.

sorry to hear about Shanks i really liked his portrayal of Daniel Jackson, but it is really great news about scifi showing the reruns! i assume it will be at least mon. thru thur. like they are showing B5 and Farscape.

I’m also confused what season we’re in too. I think were on season 4 and Showtime is in s5. Or maybe showtime just started s5 a few months early. I’m confused!

SG-1 may be in syndication, but I swear only Fox affiliates pick it up. No matter what city I visit, its always on Fox.

I don’t know when they’ll be showing it, your right it will probably be mon-thur, but I hope it doesn’t take b5’s spot. It may go there and B5 will move to 10pm, or SG-1 may just goto 10pm. I doubt they’ll bump B5 with a potential Rangers series coming out. But to be honest I’d like to see Lexx in the 10pm or 11pm slot. “Who watches Star Trek or John Edwards anyway?

Finally I really like The Other Side. Rene is just a great actor. While this episode may have just been a “filler” ep it is one of the episode type in SG-1 that I like best.

Finally I’m a pacifist and a non-confrontationalist, but I have a felling many of them will be forced to come here at one point or another.
As the chief organizer of Uncon 4.0 can you guess what board I’ve chosen to use for posting news, and current discussions? Anyone who said scifi.com can put on a dunce cap and stand in the corner. My choice was made a months ago and it had nothing to do with APEC or ff or any sort of he says she says bullsh*t. It rested souly on scifi.com being technologically inferior. SadBoard had numerous (technical and otherwise) advantages and no “poop-up” ads. If unconers want up to date, first hand news, they’ll have to visit here. It should be noted that I will be using the mailing list, but I prefer a moderated board. I get enough mail as is!

I’d lvoe to hear about his Jamming with Hendrix! Also you can record your conversation on the computer; I find that its a lot easier and the sound quality comes out better.

Thanks SM, that artiklce answered alot of questions for me. I was just about to post a question as to if the movie was still going to be made. I guess the answer is yes.

    good thread guys!

The new bun is 10cm shorter then the old one. I find that hard to belive. 4 cm maybe, but 10 seems a bit much.

Of course you were up there recently, is it really that much of a difference?

And, uh, well… white-on-black is simply a no-no for webpage design. Black text on white backgrounds is alot less strain on the eyes.

The white on black backround isn’t a problem for me; I never evvn knew you could get eye strain from it!

That sounds like a great option. I’d also like to see a chat portal(name?) like the one at thedarkzone.org here. It would just make things more convienint.

And Fx don’t worry about the Ms Nukey thing. I figured it was just a typo or other innocent mistake.

When you can’t see someone’s face, or intent in their eyes it’s easy to misread a post (I do it all the time). If someone then answers and makes some negative comments in defence then we soon have a war on our hands.

    hear, hear Saddy.

From what I’ve read at scifi.com/scifiwire that is true.
