ParticipantIt’s distressing to see how cheap the cards are for sale on eBay when I paid out the nose for them from DF.

ParticipantThat is one thing that will never happen here. You will never be flamed. theFrey and I will stop such things from happening.
But as the rules of the forum state, you just can’t get ultra-pornographic or disgustingly violent to the point of depravity. Everything short of that is okay.
The only down side is there hasn’t been much traffic in this particular forum. But it’s still relatively new. It was created shortly before the end of the series a few months ago. With more people posting, traffic should pick up!
(That reminds me. There was a story that I was working on that I never finished!)

ParticipantI don’t get it. Why isn’t Xenia Seeberg in the list? It seems strange that Bunny would be a choice and not Xev. Is there something I’m missing?

ParticipantI suspect that there must be more to it than just randomness. Luvliner was a particularly sexy episode. And we all know how anti-sex/pro-violence american television is. Perhaps management finally gave in to someone’s request. Or something like that.
I’m just happy that they are showing episodes at all! Think of the poor germans. It’s partly their show and they don’t get to see it!

ParticipantOne of the things that my comic store guy said about DF is that they seldom live up to their promise of the number of autographed cards included with each box.
That’s really cool of you, MM. I’ll keep your offer in mind.
And yeah, it would probably be a good idea and email for a confirmation of my order.
Sorry about the outpouring of pessimism, but we’ve all been waiting far too long for the release of these cards.
Flamegrape
ParticipantHappy birthday, FX! I hope it was pleasant for you.

ParticipantOh goody! That means that there’s a vague possibility of my receiving the cards I ordered in 6-8 weeks!
Flamegrape
ParticipantMy local comic store guy commented that Dynamic Forces is one of the worst non-sport trading card makers.
I bet they lost my order I placed last year.
I bet September, October, November, and December will go by before I ever see a card in my hands if I ever see any at all.
Let’s see. What else? Oh yeah. I ordered the second set of preview cards God knows how many weeks ago and I still have not received them. It took more than a half a dozen weeks or more for them to ship the first set to me.
I’m afraid that these bozos are so incompetent that if I try to send them a reminder to not forget about the order I placed last year they will screw up and cancel my ancient order by accident. But more than likely I’ll be sitting around, waiting for my order to arrive while all the rest of you receive yours. I’ll be waiting, waiting, and waiting. Then I’ll finally break down and email them. And after another half dozen weeks I’ll get a reply stating that they lost my order or that the order is on the way or whatever, it doesn’t matter the excuse. And then another dozen weeks later I’ll finally receive my damaged box in the mail. I’ll open it up and discover to my horror that I don’t have a complete set, let alone any signed cards. I’ll probably spend the next ten years try to complete my collection.
Oh, and did I mention that I think Dynamic Forces sux @$$?

ParticipantI just downloaded the first episode from the official website. (I haven’t seen it in a couple of years.) Well… they’re going to have to get rid of the nudity if they’re going to show it on television. And they’re going to have to get rid of the really dirty words. Those two primary elements of the cartoon constitute tha majority of it’s humor. In other words, the made-for-tv version will be completely re-worked. Are you sure they aren’t going to just present it on SciFi.Com?
I have difficulty really liking this cartoon because of some of the fundamental flaws inherent in the animation. They used 3d Studio Max version 2 for the first episode. Currently, version 4.2 is available. There are improvements, but none that would have made a vast difference. If they paid as much attention to the movement of Six’s shoulders as they did with her tit’s, I think I would have appreciated it more. For God’s sake, videogame characters animate better than this chick.
I’m sorry, Tony, but I don’t have alot of good things to say about this show.

ParticipantI don’t believe few people talked about this movie. It rocked! I saw it in the theater and was blown away. My favorite zombie/survival-horror movie used to be the original Night of the Living Dead. But after seeing Resident Evil, it is now my favorite. It is also my favorite movie adaptation from the videogame. I preordered the DVD before it was released on 30 July 2002.

It’s a topless girl with big tits bouncing up and down in the seat of Kanada’s motorcycle from Akira.
The above sentence describing the animation sounds like it’s hilarious, but it isn’t. The animation is rather lame and pointless and is anything but funny. It pains me to think that some computer animator went to great lengths to achieve technical perfection of the physical dynamics of titty-bounce. However, I may be missing some sort of point? For me, the animation seemed pointless.
The concept of a topless girl with huge tits that jiggle while she bounces up and down in the seat of Kanada’s bike could have been presented in an amusing way. For instance, maybe we could see her face? Seeing someone’s face helps to determine that character’s emotional state and therefore elicit a response from the viewer. Another idea is have her grab the handlebars (as if she were grabbing the shoulders of a lover) with a look of combined suprise and pleasure on her face. Mixed emotions sometimes adds to irony. Even better, have Kanada himself step into the spotlight and spill his drink as he reacts with complete astonishment at the sight of some hot chicking getting off on his bike! Now that would be humorous!
Or maybe to get to the point, it sucked and it wasn’t funny.
Why did I go on and on, criticising this four-second-long video clip? Because I’m a computer artist and animator myself. I’ve seen this kind of stuff before in art school. It’s not very good. Oh, sure, it looks cool. But do you realise how much work went into making that 4-second clip? Entirely too much.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on this show. A very, very critical eye.
Flamegrape
ParticipantI’ve seen this cartoon before! It was a short cartoon that was floating around the internet two or three years ago. As I recall, it was pretty funny. But… aw, jeez, guys! C’mon! It wasn’t that funny! And someone gave them money to make more of them? Okay, I’ll give any new show the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe they’ll do a little more with the show than blatantly lampoon very well-known science-fiction stories. But if every episode is just a game of “recognize the famous sci-fi reference”, then I don’t think I can handle it. If you like Weird Al Yankovic enough to buy his albums, I think this is the show for you.
But the existence of this show does tell me that if I can make just one computer-generated cartoon and release it on the internet, then I have a chance at turning it into a t.v. show or motion picture.

This fundamental anatomical rendering error is so common among comic artists that it’s almost become a style in and of itself! But that doesn’t legitimize it either. Boobs are bags of flesh. Not mounds of sculpted putty. Most comic artists seem to forget the former in favor of the latter.

ParticipantA good celeberty learns to take things like this in stride. The classic examples are the Tijahuana bibles. Things like that are best left ignored or else they wind up attracting more attention than they are worth.
In this case, there is certainly no worry for Xenia Seeberg. First of all, it’s a singular work of art and is not mass-produced. (That may be another issue.) And second, it’s not very good! Here on SadBoard, one of the more popular Lexx message boards, one of her #1 fans (me!) pointed out the terrible inaccuracy of the illustration.
I could probably conjure a better-looking fake nude using Photoshop. (And no, I’m not gonna do it!)

I have a theory that all comic artists always render breasts at one-half a boob diameter higher than they really should be.
Adam Hughs is one of the exceptions. He really knows the female anatomy.

Actually, I’m not being harsh enough.
I did view it with an open mind. And I was very aware that it was based on a videogame. I expected a certain amount of silliness or “videogame logic”, if you will. What I didn’t expect was that the movie was essentially one, big, long videogame cut-scene.
A cut-scene is that little bit of animation that one sees at the end or beginning of a level of a videogame. For example, your character reaches the goal or defeats the enemy. You are then rewarded with a cool animation of your character being victorious, have a little dialogue, and then introduce the player to the next level of gameplay or the end of the game.
You see, during the entire Final Fantasy movie, I kept wanting to “press any key” to skip the stupid cut-scene and get to the next level of the videogame. But there was no key for me to press and no videogame to return to playing!
You must understand something. The same production company that created the animations for the Final Fantasy videogame cut-scenes thought their work was so cool that it was worth putting up on the silver screen. They were right in the respect that it was cool-looking. But the plot, script, and dialogue sucked ass. And they knew it. And the audience knew it because the movie bombed. That production company is no longer persuing computer-animated movies. They knew they sucked and so they quit.
And it seemed to me that they could have invested some time in plot or dialogue, but they clearly didn’t. If they only hired good writers. Also understand that this is the typical plight of all videogame production companies. The writing for most videogames is very bad. This is because it’s usually written by the artists or programers themselves. Frequently, they hire friends and family to do the voices. Or they use cheap writers and actors with poor direction. Really, really good videogames fall victim to this too. (There are rare exceptions.) The trouble with the Final Fantasy Movie was this ineptitude was directly translated to the big screen. Movie theaters are not videogame consoles.
I am so glad I didn’t pay money to see this in the theater.

ParticipantDarn. They are going to sell entire seasons as boxed sets. That means I’ll have to shell out $100 or $200 to get the DVDs. I was hoping I could buy them one at a time.

Furthermore, I would allow the other player-characters to kill you because your character is loathesome and evil. You’d be worth some good experience points, too!

ParticipantThe story that I heard many years ago is what I tell to anyone who brings up the subject. George Lucas brought a story to the studio. They thought it was good, but it was too long and complicated. They said something like, “Why don’t you take a part of the story and use that?” This resulted in the production of Star Wars. When that movie because monstrously popular, George decided to make sequels and implement the other parts of the story he originaly dreamed up.

Anyway, back to the World Cup. I stayed up till almost 4 in the morning to watch the US vs South Korea match. *SIGH* Too bad they tied 1-1. Since I’m new to the World Cup, what does that mean for the US? Are they still in the competition?
And did anyone see that S. Korean guy get clocked in the head? Blood was gushing big time. But they wrapped his head up in a bandage-turbin and he went back into the game! That’s dedication.

i personally can’t stand American football! Soccer is much more exciting to watch! American football has about a minute of action for every four minutes of inaction, i.e. standing around, huddling, patting each others butt, moving the ‘ball’ around, checking the instant replay, that sort of thing. but maybe the thing that irritates me the most is how the players are treated. here in Dallas they are treated like gods. even though a very large number of them have been getting caught doing illegal things, like drug dealing, prostitution, illegal guns, and rape for example! the coach tried to take a gun on a flight and the owner, jerry jones, ran from the cops and said that he didn’t want his family to be late to church so he didn’t stop for the police when they tried to pull him over for speeding! and yet these idiots are held on a pedestal for our children to idolize! don’t get me wrong there are some very respectable players but unfortunately they don’t make the news very often for doing charity work. it is the screwups that are in the news all the time! sorry for the rant!

Mary Beth is correct in every single respect. She is absolutely right.
I’d also like to add that I don’t think it’s entertaining to watch jocko-homos costumed in outrageous parodies of butch masculiinity, slapping their bodies against each other in orgy-like piles of testosterone. You don’t see women wanting to play this sport because it’s strictly male homoeroticism. And the people of this country worship them as gods. It makes me sick. They can’t admit that the game is completely gay because these same fans like to beat homosexuals to death because of their perceived sexual threat. Hypocritical. Idiotic.
Furthermore, why do americans call their stupid homo-sport “football”?!?!?!? They don’t use their feet to move the ball at all! In fact, they rarely use their feet to kick the ball at all. And it isn’t even a ball! It’s an ovoid at best!
