Well no I imagine not, since apparently UnCons can only take place in Halifax. That is why we are trying to drum up interest in an UsCon (Takes place in the United States) so I suppose you will have to start an EnCon! 🙂 But then, I think you already have a few other Lexx Cons going in your part of the World. 🙂

Sigh……… How on earth you got the idea that any of us expected to be immediately recognized by any of the people at Salter Street, I have no idea. Heck I know I spent half my time introducing myself and explaining who and what Sadgeezers was.
Michael avoiding Frey while she was getting her notes together.. he had no idea who Frey was. She could have been anybody writing down anything. Frey could have iniated a “hi”. Instead she just looked at him. Perhaps he moved to give her more privacy. Perhaps he thought her looking at him was like a silent “um.. I’m busy here. A little privacy.” [07-11-2001: Message edited by: Xev of R2D2 ]
Look, I never said that I thought MM was avoiding me while I was writing my notes. I did not even know he was in the studio at first. He was several feet away, mostly turned away, as he was when FX brought his presence to my attention. I myself would have thought it rude to start staring at someone, just because they were famous, but that’s just me. I did glance over at him, I am human you know, but again, he was not facing in my direction and could not have seen that.
Moving away to give me privacy? As far as I know, he was never over on my side of the set while they were doing these shots.
I’m not familiar with sound stages as some people, but I am pretty sure that rushing over and starting a conversation in the middle of a very small set while they were trying to shoot would have gotten me in trouble. Not to mention how rude it would have been to have interrupted some ones work.

Ummmmm, sex is not always about tab A in slot B. If he wanted to, even if it was just to make Xev happy, I am sure that Kai’s memories contain enough information to make use of what he does have, in a convincing manner.
I agree, with the tough love thing though. In the long run, it was probably in Xev’s best interest that he not encourage her that way.
Yes, it is wonderful that Xev exists. Perhaps to be clearer I should have said that fictional character choices are driven by the story line. While the writers usually follow a certain character outline, they are not above throwing some strange stuff into the mix as a plot device to get from point A to point B.

If this were a real person instead of a creation of the Beans, I would buy this argument. The abandonment thing would have left an unholy mark on her. Having someone who does not and will not ever abandon you (like for another sweetie) would be a powerful attraction for her.

In regards to MM’s personality, I did not ‘question’ anyone, but several people did mention things about him to me prior to my trip. However, despite having no reason to doubt them, I like to give every one the benefit of the doubt. For all I knew there could have been extenuating circumstances that I was unaware of. As to the rest, possibly my definition of normal does not encompass as much as it should, but I do try.

It’s good manners, anywhoosie, who is to say that maybe someone didn’t upset him first?…But y’all gotta realise, as much as you might have been invited etc, you’re not royalty, but guests ….
Well, I can answer this one I think. Working on that old thing as I am, my family used the then popular ‘Twaptt to the back of the head’ method of behavior modification. If ever my manners or truthfulness were lacking as I grew up, my mother would preface her correctional discourse with a quick, discrete Twaptt to the back of the head. This was guaranteed to get my attention and make me amend my behavior to avoid further correction. While this method of child rearing has gone out of style, it must be said in it’s defense, that the lessons learned in this manner stay with a person for their entire life. Which is why, even today, I will flinch slightly and feel a tingle at the back of my head if ever I do something that would have displeased my parents. Worse however than this was the ‘Oh honey – sorrowful shaking of her aged old head’ method that my grandmother used to make sure that I observed the courtesys between host and guest.
Therefore I can guarantee you that at no point in time did my manners towards anyone in Halifax cause me to have the ‘tingle’ of regret, or invoke any spectral head shakings. I asked permission before I went places, thanked people for their time, respected the rules that the studio worked under and obeyed the common courtesies in my dealings with everyone I came in contact with.
The ladies and I presented gifts and notes of thanks to the principals of our visit, Paul Donovan, Lex Gigeroff, Mr. Downey and Ms. Outhit. I presented gifts to the main cast, and small thank you gifts to some of the office and crew. My only regret the whole trip was that I did not bring more gifts of a regional nature for the crew. They were so wonderful, I wish I had been able to find the space to bring twice as many as I did.
While it is unfortunate that certain parts of my report upset you, I don’t lie not even by omission, no matter what grief it may cause me. I did not do anything to provoke unpleasant behavior in any one at Salter Street, and none of my actions while I was in Halifax would have caused the slightest embarrassment to my family, for the manner in which I was raised. Nor did I observe anything like that on the part of my companions. But then neither would it have occurred to me to suggest or infer that someone else was guilty of acting like royalty or exhibiting poor manners with out irrefutable proof. Possibly when the funding was uncertain between seasons (??) Some had mentioned that they were being picked up by other projects, I know the CGI guys said they had another project to keep them busy when Lexx was done this spring. It was simply priceless. As I said, “MM gave me a very stuffed, deer caught in the headlights kind of look and then just sort of stared at the Klone.” I think appalled pretty much says it all.
Although after hearing about some peoples klones being posed in cough*compromisingpositions*cough, and a cute story I heard about some season one props, I perhaps can understand it. Then I got to have to dinner with Mr. Downey (my niece Jackie was sooooo jealous!), make Ms. Seeberg smile, chit chat with Rolf and Patricia, visit the CGI people, wander unfettered where ever the spirit took me, and go to a really great wrap party and see an uncut version of an ep that is not going to show here for months.
Of course the icing on the cake was getting to present my klones to their principals in person. As any crafter will tell you, part of the fun of making something is the expression on peoples faces when you give your craft to them. It was way more satisfying than just mailing them into the abyss and wondering how they liked them. When I made the first klone, quite a few people expressed a desire to see Mikey’s face when he first laid eyes on it. I have to say that was everything I had thought it would be. But then like our own dear FX, “I’m easily amused.”
It is of course unfortunate that MM was less than thrilled with our presence, but that is his prerogative. Of course our prerogative was to chronicle it for our article. We were warned going in that this might happen. It really didn’t spoil anything for me, and trust me people, it was not without its amusing moments. Many years ago, before I mellowed and became a beam of sunlight, I held a Masters Degree in Aggravation. The fact that I was doing it with no effort on my part was… well, kind of comical.
I also have quite fond memories of many small items that did not find their way into ‘The Invasion of the Moderators’ (Working title being ‘The Opus that wouldn’t Quit’) Perhaps one of my favorites was fulfilling a promise to theNeice to make a personal plea to Mr. Donovan to please stop picking on poor Stanley. She gets upset at Stanley being embarrassed or put into peril every week. And I’m afraid Stanley getting a lip lock by GothKai was pretty much the last straw for her. Mr. Donovan got a pretty good laugh out of her plea. And while we both knew it wasn’t going to happen, at least I was able to tell her that he said he would think about it. Hey, I didn’t say it spoiled it for me! I loved finding out ahead of time. Muwhhhhaaaaa
Oh, I don’t know if I would call it a look of horror but it was just precious.

Her previous post on an older thread mentioned how magical it was, and how moving, but on this new version, not as much mention was made of it. Perhaps the snubbing she recieved tainted the experience for her.
Ummm…. I know I’m getting old, but perhaps you are thinking of something FX said. While MM was serenading Brian I was getting the Questions ready for the Donovan interview.
Snubbed? He Canadian for crying out loud. I have never been diss’ed so subtly in my whole life! I am always open to a learning experience and I have picked up several new non-verbal tricks.

I am so …..touched, and proud, and I’d like to thank the Academy….. oops wrong speech.
But I am pretty proud. Thank you so much. You site was one of the first Lexx Sites I found, your episode guides are the greatest and you forums are the best on the net.
I was glad to help my favorite site out.
