ParticipantI didn’t realize that Til furman did worked on this also. I wonder if he did costumes or set peices?
theFrey
ParticipantPointless obervation – Nubby stinks, I want JB back as the painter.
theFrey
ParticipantOnly very rarely and only when God is pleased with me. You should feel blessed. 😉
Kinda like sitting down when you are bushed and finding that they are airing an American Chopper ep that you haven’t seen before. It’s not sci-fi, but it is sureal. does that count?
theFrey
Participant
And to you tpol. Yeah, uh huh, HHog is not a man. This is coming from a person who made an account to probably bash this whole issue on the transcripts. So does that make you a man?
Yeah!!! Let’s hear it for Opinionated Pennsylvanians! Woooot! No effort is too great if you have a b*tch. TheSpouse, theBrother and I get in much trouble here in Texas-land for stuff like this. 😀 You can take the poster out of Pennsylvania, but you can’t take the attitude out of Pennsylvanians. 😉
*sniff* so… proud… *sniff* 😉

ParticipantA cartoonist lady named Jin Wicked who writes the strip ‘Crap I drew on my lunch break’ http://crap.jinwicked.com/?comic=223 seems to like them. She moved her books to them and seemed fairly pleased.
I am currently using Cafepress myself.
theFrey
ParticipantUmmm, Headge, is it me, or is this entire post acting really wonky?
theFrey
ParticipantJust a few minor things hey Headge. 😀
I my self am waiting for the fuel cell generators to run your entire house. They *were* suppose to be out in the general market a few years ago, and then they just ….dis a peared! Gone. Nad-da, no mention of then anywhere.
Hummm, do you figure they bought out the inventor and the device is currently sitting in a crate beside the Ark of the Covenant, or did the head of a family pet end up in someones bed? Whatda ya think?
theFrey
Participantlooks very good. 🙂 You did a nice job on it. And the blue hair! 😀
theFrey
ParticipantWhile I do love the HP books, I read or listen to Pratchett at least once a week. Even after multiple readings he still amuses me. 😀
theFrey
ParticipantI peeked real quick and saw at least one of yours still there. Which means they did not have anyone else to get them from, or hadn’t had time to rework yours and claim it as their own. Even that take time. 😀 😆
theFrey
ParticipantIndeed very nice. And you are right, the sigma name does not easily roll off the tongue.
Hi Mandara, I called you yesterday, but you were out. 😀theFrey
ParticipantNo, neither one own the rights to the show, but the person putting in the effort to post the stuff should have some say in how it is used. Like anything else, if you ask if you can have something, you will most likely get it, but when you take, people get miffed. Real basic lesson that most of us learn when we are about five. Key words in that sentence, most of us.
I spent a lot of time and effort doing stuff for Lexx. And it would have ticked me off to no end had someone just snagged my work to fluff up the content of their site. No asking, no acknowlegement, just snagged. So then, had I asked the offender to remove my stuff, I would not be real happy if they then just slapped up a belated acknowlegement, ignored my request to remove it, and then started p*ssing with me on my own home board .
So now we have a snappy answer that said person figures it takes 4 hours for 2 people to do a transcript. So for 15 transcrips we are now talking about what now? About a 120 hours of work? That is a lot of time and effort to put into something to have it cherry picked by another. And someone is jacked that Headge complained? Please. Someone once said it takes a strong man to admit they were wrong….. are we going to see that here?
We try to have a lot of content on this site, for the private enjoyment of everyone, not the gain of a few.
Well, this has been fun, but work calls.
theFrey
ParticipantHey spelling was never my strong suit. 😀
I can see Hermoine someday taking McGonagol’s place. She is fearsomely intelligent, takes no crap, great with detail. A second in command if ever I saw one.
Not as much Draco in this one as I would have liked. I wonder what his mom and Snape have as a bond?
theFrey
ParticipantWell Rollings doesn’t shy away from the dark, but I’m not convinced that Harry will die. I expect, there will be a horrible battle, much recovery time for Harry, and then hints about him perhaps returning to Hogwarts to teach defence against the dark arts after he tires of being an Auditor.
theFrey
ParticipantNow that is interesting. I wonder, can it be closed and used that way? And if so, how does it stay cool in side?
theFrey
ParticipantWord on one of the Dragon Con boards is
There is a
possibility of something happening at DragonCon (what with Joss having shown a pretty much final cut with effects, sound, etc at San Diego Comic Con) so if you’re a Firefly fan and weren’t planning on going before, you might want to reconsider.
theFrey
ParticipantWhat? No one has mentioned Love at First Bite with George Hamilton? You know where Drac gets evicted from his Transylvanian digs and ends up moving with Refield to New York. Classic Vampire Flick. 😉
theFrey
ParticipantSick. A good one, but sick none the less. 😀
Did you see where a Houston company is going to send a few grams of his ashes up into space. Apparently this was a wish of his. The article says that Gene Rodenberry also did this.
theFrey
Participant
And I find it difficult to believe that a jedi could believe and turn to the darl side out of good thoughts and become a mindless killer.
Who knows? Perhaps he was only on the good side because of the cool fashion accessories and more comfortable stylish robes? Face it, the other side had a lot of form fitting uniforms and nary a swish-y robe in site. Did you notice, he *did* add a cape to the Darth uniform. You can take a boy from the light side, but you can’t make him do without a cloak billiowing out behind him as he strides.
Also, this makes it much easier to sell the extended director’s cut someday. “Revealed at last! ‘Why Anakin went to the Dark Side!’ Available now in this six volume collectors edition. “
theFrey
ParticipantSo what did you think?
I think Snape may have once had a crush on Harry’s mom. He never fails to be horrible about his dad. Who apparently was a bit of a jerk from time to time, but he never says any thing bad about his mother or even ‘your parents.’
I think Dumbledor put Snape up to it. I just hope he has a few letters of testimony hidden around here or there in case Snape needs them.

ParticipantThe original Dark Shadows aired on ABC-TV from 1966 to 1971. This is the one I saw. I understand Sci-fi had the syndication rights until 2003 and that it is also out in DVD.
The weirdest thing? We were posting the other day about Fan conventions? They are having one ar the end of this month! Seems to be lots of stars showing up for it too. 😀
http://www.darkshadowsfestival.com/page02.htm
Ya know, I am miffed. They had merchandise. Even now they have yearly calendars. poot!
theFrey
ParticipantI loved Dark Shadows. The years I watched it were when they went to the past. Occult Soap Opera, ya gotta love it.
theFrey
ParticipantInteresting, you might want to tighten up your layout. Having to scroll from left to right to see stuff is a bit distracting.
theFrey
ParticipantAh, so it is Obi Wan’s fault that Anakin went from ‘angst-y stud-muffin-to-be’ to an imperial fashion don’t?
I can buy that. Blame Obi-Wan!
Oh and back to the first thought. Can someone call ‘What not to wear’ and perhaps book Padme and Darth on a duel episode?
theFrey
ParticipantIt. Came. Early!

Participant
I can’t believe you want to know this already… before you get the book.
Well duh, once I get the book I won’t need them. 😆
* adopt snooty tone * “I am not into things for the experience. I want results, the end reaction, feedback…. and I want it now god darn it!”
As most of you may know, patience is *not* my strong suit. 🙂 (my strong suit of course being persistance and never taking my eye off the main chance.)
And, as I have always said, if the suspense of not knowing is the only thing a book, movie or show has going for it, then it is in trouble. We know how Romeo and Julliet ends, but we read it for the skill and the craft and the joy of how the words were put together to make us feel a certain way. If the skill is not there, then once the plot is revealed, there is nothing to bring us back to it again.
So, having said that…… Spoil me baby!
theFrey
ParticipantAs, well then what did you think of the SG1 season opener?
They have moved from the underwater one to the burrow under the hill. 😀
Just think, they could eventually hit all the myths, SG Vallaha, SG Middle Kingdom, SG Hogwarts. 😉

Participant[quote=”Laura Miller http://www.salon.com”%5DWhere no TV show has gone before
These shows have ranged from the passable (“Farscape”) to the appalling (“Lexx,” a sort of R-rated “H.R. Pufnstuf”), and without a doubt each of them has its own cadre of fire-breathing hardcore fans, just as the hokey original “Battlestar Galactica” does. For someone never that thrilled by original “Star Trek” (or any of its permutations), they hold little charm. So what put the new “Battlestar Galactica” at the top of my Season Pass queue? Let me count the ways.

(Miller seems to think that sci fi is generally beneath her, but at at least the shakespeare references can justify her interest in BT. 🙄 Still, the Lexx potshot was effing hilarious 😛 )
H.R. Pufnstuf?!! What ever drugs she is on, I want some. Gotta be good stuff. Still, a very telling comment as it does ‘date’ her age wise. Hello, who still remembers that show? And who the heck watched it enough in the first place to be able to compare something with it? 😉
theFrey
Participant
Writer Minear admits: “Some may look down their nose at us, but let me tell you a little secret. People who work in the genre secretly think we’re much cooler. How many ‘West Wing’ conventions are there?”
Ha! Well that is pretty funny. I am not sure how many mainstream conventions there are. I have heard of several sci-fi, sci-fi/comic, Straight show (like star trek, Lexx ect…) but really not much else. The only other one I can thing of, is that I once saw that they have (or had) Dark Shadows conventions. ??? Of course that show was like Buffy’s great uncle goes to Maine. So it was supernatural/fantasy ish, which while not sci-fi is it cousin.
Anyone know of any mainstream shows with their own conventions, or gathered together under the umbrella of a group convention? Hummm, the Fallguy convention? The Fraiser Convention? Anyone?
theFrey
ParticipantI am still getting that, at least once or twice a visit.

ParticipantWell Mira, it sounds like fun. Those Lexxians with access to Sweden should definitely look it up.

There are tables, and benches and such in the main room, as well as a small kitchenette, with the usual stuff; refrigerator, stove, coffee maker and TV. Plates, pots and plastic ware will need to be brought. Think of it as a camping cabin, you want it, you bring it. Unlike the camping cabins we have here…. This one being in Sweden, it has a sauna. If you want something more comfy to lounge on, you might want to pack it along. There is a near by café and a camping area.

Participant
I like Star Wars better than Lexx.
I like them both. Not every single frame mind you. Let’s face fact…. there were some stinker elements there….. Ewoks/JarJar/Bondage nightgowns, Mort/White Trash/Tents as clothing, but for the most part they were entertaining. 😆 And when they weren’t…. they gave us something to mock, so that was fun too. 😉
After all, you only trash the things you love. One of the reasons I never did any ‘scaper take offs was that I never watched the darn thing, so I had no idea what to make fun of. Which means of course that the people mocking your favorite shows must be ‘closet viewers.’ mushhhhahahah 😀

ParticipantWhat crap.
You can have a flashy website, but content is king. Which is nice, since we have so many people contributing original content to Sad’s.
However, that brings you to the dark side of the web, where lazy people feel it is easier to cut and paste your stuff rather than create their own. Quite a bummer Headge. But on the plus side you are helping a perfect stranger grown their site with no work on their part. Not even the tiny bit of effort to ask you if they could use them.
Admittedly, transcripts are not high art or anything, but they take time and effort and it is good of you to put your stuff up there to save some other person the drudgery of building up their content. Doubtless slacker web masters of the BSG world salute you.
Of course you are ruining it with your whining. I suppose this means they might now have to waste a precious twenty minutes or so, rearranging your stuff so they can pass it off as their own. Sigh…. sometimes life can be so hard. 🙁

ParticipantPadme was a clothes rack. Her function was to gracefully provide a bit of sci-fi color to the scenes. Think about the differences between Leia who had a simple sheath and belt and the four thousand changes of clothing Padme had.
It was distracting. In the last movie, that tight strap nightgown with the tripple rows of pearls off each shoulder? What was up with that. Okay, perhaps it could pass as an action nightie…. but sleeping with those pearls catching on and digging into your arm? I kept thinking, what in heavens name was the wardrobe designer thinking.
theFrey
ParticipantOMFG! Were the first 30 or 40 minutes of this a snooze factor or what? This time it was not theSpouse, be me who was in danger of falling asleep. Which is not to say that the visuals were not great. They were. I was sitting near the top of a theater with stadium seating, and it looked wonderful. Especially the busy, busy city scenes. But the problems with the dialog so bad that theSpouse, who normally pays no attention to anything not action related, leaned over to ask me, “Who writes this crap?”
I hated Christian Hayden in the last movie, pouting, whining and a braid thingy can only get you so far in this life. But I have to admit that I only got interested in III when Anakin started his downward slide. Who knew the boy could do tortured angst mixed with grim determination so well? I agree however that the slide to pure evil was way too quick and the setup for it was flimsy. How much you want to bet we see more of the seduction of Anakin in the director’s cut?
My pick for best scenes? When he is happily outlining his plans for making Padme an empress and then sees Obi Wan at the top of the ship’s ramp. He goes from ‘Next Dictator of the Universe’ happy to a very good mindless rage mixed with hurt betrayal.
But the winner is when he goes to the Jedi tower with the clone troops. The lowered brow, sideways glance look of resigned determination right before he takes out the kiddies. You could just see him thinking. Okay…. This is despicable, but by golly if I am going to do this evil sith lord stuff, I am going to do it right.
Any hooo, that’s what I think. I went from, “this is just like II and I will never watch this again. To, “Okay… so I will have to fast forward a bit once I get the dvd.”
Oh, and I agree about channeling Alec Guinness. 😀
theFrey
ParticipantI once brought theBrother a book of all the major quotes from the Original Star Wars Movies. 🙂
My two favorites have always been when Leia is telling Han that she loves him, and he replies “I Know” and earlier in the series when Leia declared that “I’d just as soon kiss a Wookie.” 😉
I especially like the first one for it’s breifness. And it is sooooooo guy. I have heard many minor variations of this over the years from theSpouse. 😀

ParticipantI just got back from a long trip, and yet again I wish the remote control cars were in use. I understand that this idea got de-railed (so to speak) when the expense of installing all the control track along the sides of every road was fully understood.
But, I don’t understand why they could not do something now using GPS and accident avoidence cameras in the individual cars? even if only on use for major highways. I would love to punch in Memphis to Nashville and then kick back and snooze or watch TV for the next few hours. Car alerts me that Nashville is ahead, I signal take over and then point the freaking thing towards Louisville and repeat. Should it not be able to wake me, it could pop me off in a deginated parking area at the exchange.
Since the car was being controlled, it would not speed so traffic would be safer without bored ol’ me trying to get ahead of this truck or that car.
theFrey
ParticipantI think we need to filter this through Peter’s Evil Overload List for movie three. ;D
theFrey
ParticipantWell, I certainly prefer Star Wars to Star Trek, although neither have absorbed my time like Lexx.
(theFrey shifts some stuff on the curio shelf so the mugs from the second movie are not so apparent. :D)
I do have to admit for many years occassionaly wearing some of my Han Solo buttons. My favorite was “Graduate of the Han Solo School of Diplomacy” and I had one in my car that proclaimed I was a “Graduate of the Han Solo School of Astroid Belt Navigation.” 😛
theFrey
ParticipantWell then you need to hook up with some of our German Lexx fans. He seems to be spending a lot of time in Germany.
There is talk of Wolfram Tichy (who also worked on early Lexx) doing a pilot for a TV Series following the misadventures of three generations of a film production company. Most likely a german production, but who knows. Pilots are pitched all the time and only a few get made. Less get put into production as a series.
theFrey
Participant
Err…pardon me if I’m asking a stupid question, but where is this coming from? Do Lexxians suddenly hate Warsies and Trekkies, or have I just not been paying close enough attention?
No, not at all. 🙂 It started as a DragonCon joke during a t-shirt contest. One of Kai’s most memorable moments in season three is when he rewrites the end of his famous ‘I have killed’ speech to muse upon how long it has been since he killed a room full of petty bureaucrats. Well since there are so many Trekies at DC, it was changed from bureaucrat to trekie.
Mainly since Paul Donovan use to describe the show as Star Trek’s evil twin. 🙂
There was a Klingon Shirt
And a Prime Directive shirt.
At this time Mr. Downey said that we shouldn’t single out the nice Trekkies. So what to do? We couldn’t do Farscape, it’s small show, too similar in it’s fan base, and besides there had already been Lexx/’Scapers scraps on the Sci-fi board. We wanted to stop, honest, but the thought of Kai/Lexx taking on a bigger show was too tempting. So we looked for a large contingent of fans, secure in their numbers and decided to poke a bit of fun using the Star Wars franchise.

theFrey
ParticipantWhat? Something that diss’es The ‘Wars’ Fans or the Movie itself? 😀
We did do a ‘Kill the Jedi first’ shirt using a great sketch of Lubka’s featuring 790 and all the 791 drones, but I think the kill fan’s shirt featured ‘Trekies’ who are easier to make fun of.
Perhaps we could think of something that would work for you. ;D When does it open? Next thursday?
theFrey
ParticipantAh very nice. So… who here writes in C??? Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂

Participant
While I don’t see it happening at all, the LEXX is dead, long live Little Lexx! None of the old characters need be central (I was never into Xev I must admit, so would be happy to see that character replaced. Preferably by Zev!
What he said! 😀
Really, rather than a continuation, I’d far rather see a fast-paced epic prequel mini-series (pre-LEXX) starting from the Insect Wars and leading up to the formation of the Divine Order and the Cluster. His Divine Shadow would become the protagonist, and it would be told from his perspective. Still, it would have to work as a stand-alone piece, I think. It might be done as a series of “movies” rather like S1.
What he said! 😆
