Glad to see you have recovered enough strength to take another stab at the Drupal monster. I think too much work has been put into this site for it to close. Especially now when everything is going syfy… ๐Ÿ™‚

I’d be happy to help out with reporting bugs/inconsistencies etc on the website if that’s needed. You’re probably aware of it, but there’s old copies of the website on the Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.sadgeezer.com/.

I’m sure it’s a technical glitch in this forum’s configuration, so you probably shouldn’t worry about SagGeezer turning into a evil forum overlord. Hmmm… this smells like a good plot for a Sci-Fi tv-movie.

Bright points: End of this seasons Doctor Who. ๐Ÿ™‚

There’s so little (new) sci-fi available now so I’m kinda forced to love it and I still look forward to each new episode. Just like BSG I’m also rehashing … old sci-fi. Just watched Alien and Aliens. ๐Ÿ™‚

Nasty scam using impersonation. These scams are quite popular with the World of Warcraft game also (an account to this game easily is worth 200-400$). They send "official" emails that mimic the real website design with login screen.

Anything asking you for your email and password should let your "alarm go off". Emails are notoriously unreliable.

A tip for emails: create 2-3 emails. 1 for familiy/personal/purcases stuff, 1 for "web-stuff like forums etc" and 1 "handy" email for "random website registrations". All emails should have their separate passwords.

Yes I know, but I chose the rogue because of the dictionary definition:

• An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.
• One who is playfully mischievous; a scamp.
• A wandering beggar; a vagrant.
• A vicious and solitary animal, especially an elephant that has separated itself from its herd.
• An organism, especially a plant, that shows an undesirable variation from a standard.
Which character are you in WoW?

Stop tempting me!! I have almost broke free from the habit! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was a proud hunter, spending most of his days inside the Dire Maul, trying to best the instance solo (and checking for a special book). He’s pride and joy was his turtle. In Molten Core it would be on the frontline .. fighting .. and usually end up dead within seconds.

During the last months I also made a priest because of lack of healers. My priest ended up a "wrong" priest instead, since doing damage is much more fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

I ended up putting 130days into the game which I thought was alot, but compared to other players I see I’m just a rookie. This game is a incredible timesink … and incredible addictive if you get a mania for collecting things.

Luckily I picked up Star Trek Enterprise after abandoning it on season 1. The series kinda grew on me the more I watched it. I really liked season 3 with it’s arching story.

One movie I didn’t complete was Nemesis. I watched the first 15 minutes and it was just horrible, horrible, horrible!! Evidently, some sci-fi are unbearable. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also want to add a heartless scifi from Korea named Natural City. The usual story about a troubled man and his sexbot. Nothing great, but a sci-fi.

Children of Men was interesting. A definite “Sci-Fi” highlight of the year, if you can call it so.

Watched Smokin’ Aces with a friend of mine at the local cinema late at night. We had the whole cinema for ourselves (and felt kinda bad for keeping the staff at work :)). Not a great movie, but OK if you got some popcorn.

Oh, and I tried watching a cyborg movie named Nemesis, but have only watch some 20min of it yet. Gotta recover some stamina before I finish it.

Had much better luck on the TV front: watch season 1 of Earth: Final Conflict for the first time. Though it was great, but unsure if I want to watch the next season as all my fav characters dies. ๐Ÿ™ Also watch some good british crime in Prime Suspect. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Dark and grim like Wire in the Blood. Also been fed propaganda (willingly) by Adam Curtis. ๐Ÿ™‚

and….

must recommend Taxidermia!! Watched it with a friend of mine. That movie left a lasting imprint on both our retinas, but still a great piece of cinematography.

MM talks about the stigma of working in sci fi, comparing it to working in porn – nice work if you can get it, but potential employers are worried about the association.

They did mention the problem of sci-fi actors getting typecasted, referring to Star Trek in particular. But then again, Lexx is not even comparable to Star Trek in term of popularity and mainstream recognition. I think the problem is more related to how well you’re connected in the industry. The same goes for any kind of job, except as an actor you’re always on the lookout for new jobs because of the short timespan of their contracts.

Just purchased my first MP3 album tonight on Boomkat (5ยฃ – 320kbps and no DRM). My type of music never seems to reach the public, except on some obscure radio programmings. Then again, I’m talking about electronic ambient music. It’s mostly solitude music that can be be pretty awkward listening to with friends, unlike much of the other music refered to in this thread. My preference for this music may also be related to the fact that I always get a high score for introvert on personality tests. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, the music I bought was Svarte Greiner’s album Knive, composed by a fellow norwegian (we’re a tiny country). It got a dark but relaxing soundscape. If anyone here happend to like ambient, I recommend checking it out, and also those of you not familiar with ambient music. Some soundbites from the album: Final Sleep, The boat was my friend, Easy on the bones

where he talks about having to download the show via p2p in order to watch a decent copy. It’s a great interview – he comes across as remarkably personable, despite complaining about the ‘total disaster’ of his post Lexx career. It also makes an interesting companion piece to the more recent video interview posted on the MM site – he seems demoralised (to me) by this stage.

Seems like a couple of other folks involved with Lexx is also struggling with finding employment in the film industry.

As for not being able to work with that you’re trained for .. THAT I can relate to. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hopefully he’ll be offered some parts soon. I found his performance in Lexx pretty solid. Also, he’s like MADE for BBC stuff, hehe.

If someone would be willing to revive the Lexx universe through a mini-series or something similar, I’m sure hordes of fans would be returning to watch. Lexx is still my all-time favourite.

Hi,

Thanks for the link. Looking at the bottom of the site it reads page 1 of 1119. ๐Ÿ˜€

It’s hard for find new material that’s worth watching. I generally use IMDB to look for new movies to watch, but it’s hard to locate the good movies. Movies that I like, others might regard as pure thrash. Therefore searching for “high rated” sci fi movies just returns the standard stuff like Alien, Blade Runner etc and if you try to search for some average rated stuff, you instead get a couple of thousand results. It’s very hard to “pick out” some good stuff that way. So I’ve basically ended up with picking my movies from user-comments laying around the net, but it’s getting harder and harder to locate new material. Hench, I’m nagging here. ๐Ÿ˜›

Currently my todo list includes: Omega Doom (1997), A Boy and His Dog (1975), Gandahar (1988), The Unknown(1927 non-scifi), Paprika (2006). Hopefully a couple of good movies among them (when I manage to get hold of one.)

Concerning Google. A great way of narrowing down search results is to use the + operator.

Say you have three required keywords word1, word2 and word3, you can eliminate a lot of redundant results by adding a + infront of each word. Example search: +Mulder +joined +work +x-files

If you get a lot of results you don’t want, just put a – operator in front of unwanted words. Search example: Mulder -“cancer man”

Also, if you like to search within a website (a fansite for instance), you can use the site: command. Example search: +mulder +scully site:sadgeezer.com
