Was sad about lexx.com… A very minor expenditure, but it yielded revenue and generated interest (not just in Lexx but in AA). I imagine many people bought the Lexx DVDs who wouldn’t have if they hadn’t become involved in the online community. AA’s impersonal treatment of the fans by not giving any warning was typical in my past experience with them — it’s not a great advertisement for their customer relations/business practices.

I think their treatment of the fans was quite shocking. Just a little notice beforehand to let people hive off their favourite stuff would have been nice. And now when people buy Lexx DVDs and the Lexx.com advert leads them to an address not found, what are they going to think? It’s not very professional to my mind.
Since Paul still owns the address (I assume) would it be possible to get him at least to get a forwarding page put up to direct people to the new board?[/quote]

I have to agree with everything that you’ve written, nursewhen. It’s very bad public relations on their part and lexx.com was still getting new members and visitors regularly. One is tempted to think that AAC’s behaviour was ill-mannered and poor business, but their last annual report, which came out after the site was closed, did state that they were detaching themselves from all of the old series (serieses? serii?). Still, some notice would have been fair and decent. And it is hoped that the new site will get a redirect from lexx.com.

    Sad news…

I’m supposed to be on the road right now, but am taking a minute to pass on the reply I have just received from Troy Strum concerning lexx.com:

    Hi there,

I’m not involved anymore, period. Salter is officially gone – no offices, no
employees, no nothing. I have no idea who offically owns the Lexx property
rights right now (bot you might want to find that out – because if it’s not
AAC you stand a better chance of getting a new official site). The server it
was hosted on is gone, and it looks like AAC only transitioned the sites
that are needed for current shows.

Anyway, hope that puts stuff to rest for you.

    – Troy

Thanks to all for the advice. It sounds like Red Dwarf is my next investment.

LexxLurker: Farscape was another series that caught my attention while rummaging around this site over the past year so I might give it a try too. I must say, though, that I’m not familiar with ‘Forgotten Realms’. I have read the Dune books, but I’m looking for something a bit twisted and humourous, I suppose. Stiil, thanks for the help.

KarubaLuna and Streudel: Trailer Park Trash, eh? I’ve read about it. Sounds like a series I could relate to. I might just have to make the effort to sync my life with the T.V. for once and check it out. Thanks and a tip o’ the spliff…

The only email address I have for Paul is one that no longer works. I guess I could email someone who knows him and try that. I’m not sure he would be much help, however.

To the best of my knowledge, the site was “run” by Alliance-Atlantis, specifically by the folks who up until recently were still at the Salter Street offices, although Paul does own the domain name itself. I have never been in any contact with them personally.

There are other Salter sites offline as well (notably the Made In Canada site) which appear to be hosted in the same facility, perhaps on the same machine.

In any case, I really don’t have any inside information on what the status is.

BD might be able to help- perhaps by contacting Paul Donovan, but unfortunately he’s on the road for much of June and will only be sporadically checking his e-mail… I am hoping that I’ll get a reply from Troy Strum sometime soon.

Pessimist that I am, and having often read about Alliance Atlantis’ shift away from series production to broadcasting over the last year or so, I suspect that the disappearance of the bored and the offline status of other sites might be permanent. ๐Ÿ™

Toronto would be great, especially at the end of this month, ilyekkakai.

My family owned property on Cape Breton, Nova Scotia for years, relatives lived out there and so on. It’s stunningly beautiful, no doubt about it. KarubaLuna could certainly fill you in on the charms of the west coast, as could Logan I’m sure. I would say that Vancouver offers cosmopolitan charms and attractions combined with easy access to the super natural beauties of rural B.C., whereas N.S. and Halifax are a bit less, um, worldly. Seeing them both, though, would be well worth your while.

Which reminds me of an interesting story (actually it’s a bit long and kind of dull). One of my overly herbalised friends made the coast to coast trek a couple of summers back. Having spent time in Nova Scotia, he stopped off in iStanario for a bit of sanity and civilisation before continuing westward. He raved about the Maritimes and how spectacular it was to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic. Then he gleefully exclaimed that he was thrilled by the fact that he was going to be able the watch the sun rise over both the Atlantic and the Pacific in one summer. A neat trick if you can do it, given that the sun generally rises in the east and the Pacific is found to the west of B.C.

Okay, I’ll go back to sleep now.

    5 a.m. Gosh, I just love insomnia…

Anyway, Alliance Atlantis finally and grudgingly released the figures for the last quarter of the most recent fiscal year. Highlights include a larger than expected loss and the winding down of production, completing their switch to broadcasting. For details click here. Revenue from CSI and their ‘old shows’ declined markedly. Could there be a connection here?

The Condom Shack is still there, but unfortunately (thank you, Tory swine) the Planetarium is no longer there. The largest Chinese community outside of, well, China has two Chinatowns now and even a couple of interesting malls out in the suburbs. The Zoo is a treat, subways are still clean, and Maple Leaf Gardens is still standing, although soon to be turned into a supermarket of all things…

Anyway, I’m sure that your Dad has lots of ideas on how to spend your time there and I hope that you have a great time Jhevz. Congrats, eh.

While we can argue the roles may have been reversed, I definitely see that as their “first time” so to speak hehe.

Too true, but since Xev loses her male genitalia, Kai opines that she is still a virgin. Following this reasoning, since Stan has lost his female genitalia, one might argue that he is not the same Stan who was, ahem, seduced by Xev. After all, if it is defined essentially as a physical act (as opposed to emotional)- and it is certainly portrayed as such in the ep, if the organs that engaged in it are no longer there, can the two transformed, or better restored, characters be said to have done it?

(Actually, I think that the answer is yes, but by extended Kai’s argument its flaws become visible).

I think an effective S5 would have to be a complete break with the original Lexx. Cesare’s idea of looking at the heretics would be a good place to start, with a largely new cast (maybe cameos or a small recurring role for Stan the Man) and story line.
