ParticipantI’m not really sure how I feel having fan art in my regular store, but after some requests for “convenience” I’ve added some Yo Way D’oh products. Since I created them inspired by Lexx characters, I’m allowed to sell them there if I don’t use the Lexx name on the site, but it may be temporary, anyway. Somehow it seems improper.
A few of the Christmas pics and this one:
are available on T-shirts and mugs (I sometimes collect interesting mugs) and things. They seem a little expensive to me for fan art, so anyone who wants the very, very large file of this one or some others to make their own T-shirts, as always, I give them away free.
This one in an 8 x 10 is here.
My store is located here: http://www.cafeshops.com/petsplayground

ParticipantDammit! I knew I shouldn’t have started watching Fox dead-slot Fridays. I hope they’re planning on DVD’s, cuz for the next few years I’m not getting attached to anything that isn’t already finished shooting. I ignored all new shows between Profit and Lexx, and I can do it again.
I hope for all the other fan’s sakes it goes to UPN or WB, but my service doesn’t carry either of those, so it looks like I’m going back to Space 1999. At least it’s suitably weird.

Also, the first Xevkai790lyekka pic is available now as a complete winter scene, no color band for icons:
And ManOwaR has used my individual character files to make Lexxmas ecards. There is one for each character and one of the original wallpaper image.

I don’t have any sexy Xenia pictures. In fact, I don’t have any cast photos at all, so I can’t attribute it to that.

“There was a perception about the channel, that it was very geeky, that it was a rerun channel and that it was for boys,” says Sci Fi President Bonnie Hammer, “but we did an awful lot of research and found that there are so many women who are into science fiction. So what I had to do was educate the population to the fact that science fiction is much broader than you think.”
I had no idea Science fiction was broad enough to include kilts and broadswords…. without a Kurgan in the background.
Apparently she either thinks the female science fiction viewers are a bunch of frelling morons, or she believes that William Wallace really could “shoot lightning bolts from his arse”.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved Braveheart in spite of its inaccuracies. But there is no way in hell I would EVER watch it on the Sci-Fi channel. I wouldn’t watch my favorite Marilyn Monroe movies on the Sci-Fi channel, either, nor my favorite Simpsons ep on the Learning channel, nor Dune on Comedy Central. I find the whole idea preposterous.
Every time I see that female Exec on the Simpsons, I think of this idiot! She’s actually trying to tell the public what the definition of science fiction is in order to fit it into Vivendi’s catalog.
Why don’t they just change the name to the “speculative fiction” channel and get it overwith. That pretty much covers everything.

ParticipantKevin Aucoin refers that eyebrow style as the “Audrey” or “Gamine” brow, a look youthful and tomboyish that can only effectively be pulled off by a woman with an innocent, childlike face and a specific bone structure. One who looks as if she’d feel right at home in her boyfriend’s boxers (Or something to that effect….)

ParticipantSYLLABICATION: ob·scure
ADJECTIVE: Inflected forms: ob·scur·er, ob·scur·est
1. Deficient in light; dark.
2a. So faintly perceptible as to lack clear delineation; indistinct.
b. Indistinctly heard; faint.I seem to remember this applies, but then again, the last time I saw Doctor Who, I watched it on B&W TV over aluminum foil antenna in 1981, hoping my Mom wouldn’t switch the channel to watch her honey William Shatner before the snazzy music at the end was over.
c. Linguistics Having the reduced, neutral sound represented by schwa
This definately applies during the rain.
3a. Far from centers of human population: an obscure village.
b. Out of sight; hidden: an obscure retreat.
4. Not readily noticed or seen; inconspicuousThe only time I’ve ever seen Doctor Who, (not including whatever that made for TV movie thang was supposed to be…) it was on PBS. People in the US rarely turn to PBS, since with the possible exception of Sesame Street, it promises a little culture. Also, they run on donations, and people appear to feel guilty about watching TV stations that ask for donations. I have not been able to get PBS in 6 years, so I have no idea if my local PBS is showing Doctor Who or not, (unlikely… all Public stations cater to the interests of the local crowd) and I’ve never seen it on any other station. It would be nice if they’d put it on BBCA.
5. Of undistinguished or humble station or reputation: an obscure poet; an obscure family.
People I know who have seen it in the US also remember it from 1981 and make fun of the effects. They also don’t quite accept that you can walk into something small and have it be big on the inside. (My friends have a little problem with both theoretical physics and suspension of disbelief.)
6. Not clearly understood or expressed; ambiguous or vague
I was completely unaware of its scope, backstory and fanbase. It was 10 years before I found out there was more to it than 10 episodes and great dance music at the end.
But then again, obscure is relative. In MY universe, it qualifies as obscure. I wish I had access to it so I could pick a favorite episode or at least see if I still like the show, buchagotta use the cards yer dealt.

ParticipantThis is about the possible Prisoner Movie. In the dirt, Patrick McGoohan states that he will not be involved if Kevin Costner (!?!) plays No.6. Woo-Hoo! For that I will dance for him:
Gotta fix that hair….
IMDB stated it was a 2002 production, but who knows how old that info is.
Anyway, upon reflection I have decided that No.6 did not exchange one Village for another, “Fall Out” must have been a dream, because in the episode The Computer Wore Menace Shoes, No. 6 (voiced by PM) is still in the Village when Homer arrives in the late 90’s.
Also, in the authorized series of books, No.^’s name is the same as his character from “Secret Agent Man/ Danger Man”; the episode “The Girl Who was Death” was originally written for that series; and George Markstein has stated that the reason the character from SAM resigned was because he had come up with the idea of the Village years earlier, decided it was inhumane, then discovered that his people had gone forward with the project.
(That lends a better angle to the ending, I think, if you were trying to look at it logically, and now I will have to purchase SAM/DM. )

ParticipantCorel PP again… There’s a spot when you create a new file where you can check “Make a Movie”, then choose the number of frames, size and either .gif or .avi.
You have to convert to 8-bit-color to save as an animated gif, but it’s easier to draw if you don’t start out that way. Then you can pick frame rate and stuff. These have a frame rate of 15, except for the face which has 60.
I think it’s easier to make each pic seperately and import them, but some people prefer to do each one over the other. It takes a little practice and patience, but it isn’t particularly difficult.
You can also take a few pictures of the same thing in a row, like little Kai laughing, and make a gif movie out of them, too.
But the colors may come out funny when you convert them to 8-bit.
If you want to try that, it usually works better the first few times in greyscale. I made Bettie Page dance that way. Hee Hee!

And let’s not forget “Brazil”….

P.S. And robots listen even less than people do. They are supposed to do what they’re told without question, but they don’t. 790 and the Silicates from S:AAB are perfect fictional examples of what is wrong with robots. (I have been warned I’m going back to my robots on Wednesday. I am not happy. They are even less likely to listen to commands when they’ve had a vacation.
In that respect, they aren’t much different from people.)

Logan: My place of employment is “hiring”, but they will only “hire” people who have been here before and escaped. I kid you not. My boss is gone this week, so I’ve been calling my interim boss the new No.2. They all think I’m crazy, there, anyway, so they don’t bat an eye about it.
I think I’m going to sew white trim on my black jacket.
Office Space and Brazil are nothin’. You should have heard the Fahrenheit 451 rant I went on once when they confiscated my lunch bag for having a book in it!
Stormsweeper: It wasn’t just the camera angles, but the angles coupled with something in the way No.6 was tilting his head and smirking that made me think John Criton. I stopped watching avidly after about season 2, though, so I dunno if they’re still doing that type of thing when people are messing with his head on Farscape.
Then again, No. 6 reminds me more of Hamlet than any other character in entertainment. It was only that small bit that felt like Farscape.

ParticipantI just spent $40 on a book called The Great American Pin-up by Charles Martignette, who has the largest collection of original Vargas paintings in the world, but I unseal it and open it up only to find that Vargas’s estate lawyers wouldn’t let him reproduce them because Vargas was better than just a pin-up painter. The only ones he could put in were the paintings owned by Esquire. I think his lawyers are cheapening his work by claiming he wasn’t a pin-up painter.
Does anybody know Vargas for anything but Pin-ups? What exactly is WRONG with pin-ups? Is there something wrong with art that only says “here’s a pretty girl” or “look at this guy’s muscles”? I think Michelangelo would be more impressed with Vargas (and Flamegrape) than Picasso and Warhol, but that’s the kind of thinking that got me in trouble with art people in the first place.

I’m getting the impression that Farscape used these devices for when John acts crazy. I don’t believe in rip-offs, but the scene was so familiar that when my husband and I watched it seperately, we both got Farscape vibes from it. It feels like a nod to me.
