I just saw the Christopher Lee episode.

Whoo-Hoo! BEST ENDING EVER!!!!

That was a really good one. When I start loaning them out, that’ll be my hook. I usually hook people with something other than the beginning. I’ve hooked several people on Lexx with 791.

(No one has to answer, I just had to say something for the record! )

The Brain in a Jar doesn’t ring a bell…. I think I would remember that.

Survivors is a British show about a post-plague world (kind of like “The Stand”, I’m told). And Starlost was some Canadian thing that got botched pretty badly. I haven’t seen either of them, but I remember them being mentioned in other places.

Just in case, here is a Survivors Site. I think it’s available on video.

And here is a listing of science fiction shows from the 70’s,

I don’t know if it’ll help you, but that’s where I’ve been going to look for shows to add to my collection.

I’m guessing you mean the cloaked tri-wing flown by the lone alien Ace pilot:

That was CVR, or Chiggy VonRichtofen, named after the Red Baron. He appeared in Never No More and The Angriest Angel. That was the S:AAB battle mix I did. (A very early one. The timing is off on some of the samples. I’ve been meaning to fix it, but then Lexx came along….)

Oops, babbling! Does this make me a SAAB Geezer?

P.S. If you’re really into it, there’s a pic of the resin model here, which shows better detail.

Without spoiling anything (I say that as if anyone’s ever going to see it again), not knowing what they looked like was a necessary device for one of the episodes. They did end up showing the Chigs after that ep aired.

(I’ll admit, though, up until that episode it did feel a little weird, but then when that happened, it opened an OMG-OOPS! for me. But, to each his own. )

Oh, Boy, did you miss something! Did they only show half of them in the UK? ARGH!

Everything became more cinematic second season, and the ending really knocked the wind outta me!

Here is the list from the Space ready room listed above:

101 Pilot
102 Farthest Man From Home
103 Dark Side Of The Sun
104 Mutiny
105 Butts
106 Eyes
107 The Enemy

110 Stay With The Dead
111 River Of Stars
112 Who Monitors The Birds? **2nd Best Episode Ever!

120 Stardust
121 Sugar Dirt
122 And If They Lay Us Down To Rest …

There are plot summaries there. They are ripe with spoilers, but that doesn’t really matter now. If you want to know what happened, go ahead and peek.

No,

The rumor has always been that being their first show, and the realization of a dream they had in college, they signed the first deal that came around. That means they got a ****ty agreement and only Fox has the right to release it on VHS or DVD, not Hard Eight.

There was a petition here for awhile:

Space:Above and Beyond Ready Room

She’s also hosting one of my early mixes there.

And sometimes there are offers from people selling episodes they taped or DVD’s they made. I just taped it every time they showed it on Sci-Fi until I got a whole collection. (Out of order, of course, since sci-Fi often showed them by theme or character rather than start to finish.) But I notice as I watch them the quality is getting darker and darker. I may have to buy some homemade DVD’s.

It’s my all-time favorite Sci-Fi show; I have a thing for soldiers.

I wish I could find a tubbies picture big enough to make into a desktop pic.

Actually, I also just ordered an autographed poster of Dipsy from its web site. It has left on its signature green gloves so you can tell it apart from Xenia. Maybe when it arrives it will be big enough.

You mean this show?

You may notice LaaLaa is MIA. It was supposed to be playing 790, but resigned. LaaLaa is currently known as No. 5, and here in the Village we will soon find out why it wasn’t interested in the project, I assure you:

Close, but it was Space: Above and Beyond. Produced by the writing team Morgan and Wong, who wrote some X-files episodes, many Millenium episodes, and most recently the Jet Li movie, “The One”, in which several actors from the series appeared. (Those guys do the David Lynch thing a lot and use people they know in other projects.)

It has the rare privlege of being a Sci Fi production which knew when it was going to end, therefore the final episode actually wrapped up the entire series with a neatly packed surprise ending. It did last 2 seasons.

ATTN, anyone from Fox’s legal dept. watching (I should be so lucky) LET M&G PUT IT ON DVD! My tapes are getting worn! ARRGH!!

If I ever go to a convention, I’m going as an In Vitro, since all I have to do for a costume is put a belly button on my neck.

Flame:

I’m deep, deep in the USA. I probably have the same ones you have (A&E?), but as a complete set. I think they just took the 2-disk sets and put them all together in a bigger box, which is exactly what A&E does with everything. There are hardly any extras on the disks, except the fan dvd, which was in a paper case stuck in the end of the box but marketed as a “World Premiere”. When I get to it, I’ll let you know about its quality, of course. Unless you find one by then.

It doesn’t look like A&E is offering it outside the mega set, (which they’re selling for $80 more than nearly everywhere else, BTW. GRR!) and only at Best Buy. I cancelled my online order to get it from Best Buy. I guess it was also released in France. (This is where I got that info, but you probably know that already: http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/main/epguide/txmfma.html )

Since they’re not selling it, I would snag you a copy of mine, but I don’t have the hardware. Maybe I can come up with something.

Valdron:
10-Q4 the link. Cool! Now I can look for the mistakes on the DVD’s. I love doing that!

10-Q both ,

I’m still working through the Space1999.net links through SadHOO. (Not visiting fan fic, though. It would be kind of useless to go now, since I just got the set and have only seen 2 eps!)

Aha! Maya is who pops into mind when I think of the show. She isn’t on yet. Then Martin Landau. Sorry to say, Barbara Bain didn’t come to mind at all! I think I heard about Tony Anholt on Lexx.com, if he’s who I think he is.

I’ll be downloading the games, of course, but I’ll have to wait until I have a full night off at home (Country dialup with inactivity limit of less than 1/2 hour. If I don’t click around while downloading, it cuts me off, even while using Gigex. GRRR!)

Do you have the DVD’s, Flame? Mine came with a DVD of the fan-produced series ending. At one ep or less a day, it’s going to take me forever to get to that one.

I’m not watching Sci-Fi anymore, so I’m buying sets of all the shows I’ve always wanted to see and making my own Sci-Fi channel. (I am having someone tape Yo Way Yo again so that I can get samples without weather interference this time, but that’s it for Sci-Fi for me. They made their last moronic cancellation, as far as I’m concerned.)

At least my personal Sci-Fi channel actually has Sci-Fi on it. Space 1999 followed by the Prisoner on weekdays, movie or Lexx on Friday, anime on Saturday mornings, I’ll have to get the Godzilla set for lazy winter Sunday afternoons.

Whoo-Hoo! I am LOVING this show!

Ep 5: 12 hours in a box with an Estonian spy just to find out… well, if you know what I’m talking about, then you know what I’m talking about. AWESOME! And now I know they can’t just pop or shoot those things. (I think that’s what Marge did on the first Simpsons ep referencing the Prisoner. I believe it was the tribute ep in which Homer steals the boat No. 6 has been working on for 30 years. I hope they show them again soon. LOL!)

Has anyone else watched the DVDs? They each have a trivia game, too.

Lemmee think… I’d say it’s most like Farscape, but less zany in the funny bits, less body humor, and no aliens. It feels a little like Farscape mixed with Space:Above and Beyond, which had darker atmosphere, more strained personal conflict, and military character backgrounds.

However, they were able to make mere humans more creepy and terrifying than many aliens in the last ep. Whew!

I’m only up to episode 4! 10-Q 4 the spoiler warning, MM. I skipped it in a hurry.

This is for you, Logan,

Fortunately, the area I work in has shut down for a month, meaning I get to work with ACTUAL PEOPLE, not just robots for awhile. Unfortunately, we are on mandatory overtime. My regular shift is 12 hours. How many times in a row do they expect me to do that? I have quoted myself out of Office Space and Brazil….

This is actually going somewhere….

To entertain the disgruntled, I have been showing them episodes of the Prisoner verbally. I have worked here 5 1/2 years and never met my manager. However, we get emails from him all the time. The Supervisors are required to dispense the orders from this manager no one ever sees. I am convinced the times I have seen him, (at a distance), he was an actor hired to play the part, since he used the “corporate earplugs” line whenever asked a question. (FYI, for those who don’t know, “Corporate Earplugs” is the term for a manager saying “Let me get back to you on that.” There’s an unspoken understanding that you will never hear another thing about it.)

Now that we are company prisoners, since there is no law and barely a limit against mandatory OT, guess who my crew are calling No.1? Tomorrow I’m going to start referring to people by employee number.

And a scrip:
“This Showtime series tracks the aftermath of the Big Death, which wiped out roughly six billion people, anyone over the age of puberty. It’s now 15 years later, and people have been ridinng on the ashes of the old world for the most part, the available resources slowly declining and running out. It’s a moment of transition: either the decline continues, or now that they are adults, people start to rebuild a new world out of the ashes of the old one. The question is what shape will that world take, and who gets to choose? — J. Michael Straczynski’s Post on a Usenet Group. You know, now that I’ve slept, I have no earthly or otherworldly idea why I thought this was important enough to mention. I looked up Barbarella to check its release date in reference to Jane Fonda’s visit to Vietnam for another discussion, and became angry at the revelation that there’s going to be another one starring that girl from the Wedding Singer. I must apologise for this topic.

I wish I could tell you what happened, but as far as I remember, one day it just wasn’t on anymore. I thought I missed the last one, but perhaps I didn’t. Since it was cancelled in the first season, it’s unlikely it was wrapped up neatly.

Hopefully the Morgan/Wong team retained the right to redistribution. They didn’t with Space: Above and Beyond, which is keeping them from releasing that series (my second favorite show of all time) on VHS and DVD. ARGH!

Yep, it was called “The Others”. Not my usual kind of show, but I’ll watch anything produced by Glen Morgan and James Wong. Especially if it has James Morrison in it at least once.

It may have had a Millenium feel because they wrote several episodes of Millenium, as well as some of the X-files episodes and… *whispers* 21 Jump Street.

It was in a bad time slot. Everything on Saturday night gets killed pretty quickly in the USA.

That’s cool, MM, 10-Q4 the invite, but I’m not interested in trading, and it seems that the people there (though I recognize most of the names) have specific wants. I have no idea what number they are or what series, if any. Besides, they’re postcards, not trading cards.

I’ve been watching my new set of S2 DVD’s, making sure there are no skips before I send the pack with the missing DVD back, and figured I’d pick some out 4U. These are from the first 3.

They’re in order of appearance. I’m listing a wide selection of phrases that might be good for a game, but may not work in JKII.

Here they are:

Lyekka:
Clusterlizard of course, scream

Luvliner: (After getting rid of Kai)

You will pay!
I’m heartbroken….
Struggling noises: Fight Scene
That’s a ride for you to remember!

Lafftrack:

Two against one: In the moth
Struggling noises: Xev on Specialty Show

Stan’s Trial:

I think we have a problem: (On the Bridge after Stan’s capture.)
We have to save him: (Talking to Kai)

791:
Nope (on the bridge)
Let’s stay close together (on the planet)
How can we open this door?
Maybe we should check out whatever’s up there first.
Are you sure?
Hmmm…. (much like Lara Croft)
I could have sworn you were getting ideas.
What a shame.
It doesn’t look like much.
Whatever’s in there must be very valuable.
Be careful.
How’s it going… where are you?
Not so fast, loverboy, I’m still getting over the shock.
Did I get it right?
I’m here.
What’s wrong?
Hey!

Wake the Dead:
I’m a big girl.
Bye, then!

Nook:
Hi, boys!

Norb:
What do you expect?
Don’t be a hero.
Are you alright?
Don’t go far.
We don’t have much time.
Woo! (Shout of joy)
Kissing noise.

She hasn’t had many pithy sayings so far, besides “You will pay.”

I also work with many photographers, and will add that there are lots of ways to “enhance” someone’s body in a photo shoot that don’t involve digital techniques. So it’s entirely possible her pose looks the way it does due to a wonderful photographer, good lighting, and carefully placed props you don’t see, all designed to enhance her obvious (ahem) talents.

I think you’re right, upon reflection with more time. If you cut one out and paste it in transfer over the other, they pretty much match up. In the poster, her weight is on her right leg, and her hips swing that way, but they are the same size if you resize them by her eyes then line them up by probable belly-button position.

I think there’s a bit of an illusion that makes her hips appear smaller in the poster, because her right hip bone (stage left) is darker than the rest, so at a glance she looks thinner there.

It’s rare to see a model in this “jug and mug-shot” pose. The more I look at it, the more refreshing it is.

I assumed her hips were “taken in” a little, probably through camera work or digitally, not airbrushing. Below the waist she seems boyish to me. And… any pic that’s going to be shown in a mag or life-sized is always airbrushed.

You could compare it to the pic on the Frey’s site showing Xenia in the Egyptian outfit holding one of the Klone dolls. She is in a similar position.

I don’t know why anyone would want to cut their hips down, since most people who like looking at women prefer a 2 to 3 waist to hip ratio no matter what the waist and hip size. (Discovery Channel or Learning Channel Bio of Sex show. I can’t remember which one.)

However, she may also just be a “cone” body type, more typical of men than women, but it still happens. Most lingerie models these days are cone or ruler types, as opposed to hourglass or pear. That’s why they have to stand in those awkward positions to make their hips look rounder. But their stomachs are generally flatter, which makes for better fit.

I digress. I do think her hips were taken in. I also think if it was posted in a room, it would take awhile for anyone to notice it, with the rest of the pic being so distracting.

At least they didn’t airbrush out her hip bone and rib cage like they do over at Playboy. She still looks half human.

Hey, you’re right. Whaddya know! I’ve been at bookcrossing.com registering books I’m gonna set free. I think my next weekend off I’ll go for a drive and leave one at every rest-stop. I’ve always wanted to find a book at one of those.

Midori

Btw.. I keep choosing that little purple face thingy cuz its just so damn cute with all those spazy looks it gives!!! ha ha

They say that, but they’re usually not out for long. They told me Blackadder was out, but they shipped it the next day.

Acorn sealed a DVD case in my Lexx set with no DVD in it, and they let me watch the others until I get the new set, which they said was backordered, but then they shipped 2 hours later.

And, this is my favorite, I RECEIVED Blade II on the day it was released in stores, they didn’t wait to ship it. Wheeeeee! They’re the best! Even when I had a problem, they fixed it right away.

Good thing I just raised my own DVD allowance! O’course, that means lower clothes allowance. But what do I need new clothes for? I’m not going anywhere with all these DVD’s! LOL!

And it’s still available for under $100 ($ 94.43
USA) at

Deep Discount DVD

(Having ordered it myself because of a Simpsons tribute ep Hee Hee Hee!)

They ship to Canada, but not for free like they do here.

Don’t tell F…Logan, but they also have Zardoz with Director commentary.

That’s exactly how I felt about it, and exactly why I watched only 3 episodes. Funny!

quote:

What I *don’t* like is seeing people humiliated and manipulated and hurt, like on the “reality” series. Life is for reality, that bit outside the door, all the good and bads of it. I don’t like seeing cruel things done to RL people who may not be able to handle the outcomes in a healthy manner. I don’t find it entertaining in any manner.

Someday, someone’s going to have a heart attack or complete mental breakdown or really beat the s**t out of an extra as a result of one of those shows. I don’t find that funny at all.

Hidden-camera shows always remind me of that episode of AbFab in which Patsy is scarred for life after being on Candid Camera. If anyone ever did that to me, no amount of money or whining would get me to sign that release afterward. They’d have to show the whole thing with a face blur.

quote:

Maybe that’s why execs do reality shows. They don’t get enough of it in their own life.

Also, Real Life screwballs will work for nothing to get on TV for their 15 minutes.

As far as Sci-Fi’s new programming line-up goes, I finally got whittled down to only Fridays, and got interested in Farscape because it was on the same night as Lexx. Now all that’s left for me on that channel is Farscape, but I’m not a rabid fan of the series, so since (if this isn’t a ploy to increase ratings) there won’t be a clean ending, I find no reason to continue watching.

It also irks me that they choose to show things out of order. I’m not into the X-files, but they’re showing them by “theme” instead of a straight run. Again, WTF?

It costs me an extra $9.99 a month to keep the package that has Sci-Fi, and since I don’t watch the other stations that come with it, and won’t be watching Sci-Fi, I’ve already cancelled my package.

It looks like I’ll be watching Firefly, but since it’s on Fox, and they’re pround of showing bad programming, if it’s any good it’s sure to be cancelled soon. Friday night has never been a good night for Fox shows. I’m gonna try not to get attached….

Midori

That’s what I did, found a tutorial ,and BAM! I’m doing a page of bases based on Bettie Page and pin-up poses… uh… someday. Also, there’s a collection of doll bases and clothes on CNet, or a dollz generator or something. I was downloading something else to try out; I didn’t have a chance to snag it while I was there last time.

The faces are the most difficult part for me, too. There’s so little space to work with, and then to get an expression out of them. Whew! I used a generated dollz face for my Xev and my own doll (the first I made), but I don’t for my other dollz. Unfortunately, I started with a style with smaller heads, and made it worse for myself. What was I thinking?

Pet;D

P.S. I love your doll of yourself, too. Very stylin’! Mine’s a little too late-80’s Stevie Nicks. And as you know, my hair isn’t this big!

That’s not boring. I have 300 songs by them. Like the remix better, tho. Bono’s version of Leonard Cohen’s “Halleluja” makes me forget to breathe.

I have (5 disk changer):

The Audiants: All the time in the world
The Sisters of Mercy: A Slight Case of Overbombing
Las Vegas Grind #1
A Mix CD of songs I want to sample from. (Oldies to Industrial: It’s funny to me to have Marilyns Manson and Monroe on the same collection.)
and get this:
Tom Jones Greatest Hits (for some reason, this helps me clean my house. If anyone has an idea why this is, I would love to hear it. I’m completely clueless in that regard!)

My mp3 playlist would be too large and therefore boring to everyone but me to bother with.

Sci-Fi Channel has been dead to me ever since they announced they were going to show Cape Fear. WTF?

Of course they’re cancelling it because they don’t own the video rights. They would have used Neilsen ratings as an excuse, otherwise. They can’t use that now, so they’re just saying, “It’s gone, so there “.

Are there enough rabid Tremors fans to warrant a series? Doesn’t matter. “You’ll watch what we tell you to watch, so there !”

And personally, I don’t want to watch Shannon Doherty in anything, and that reality TV thing doesn’t do it for me. If I wanted to watch everyday people making asses of themselves I could go to the mall. And they’re not even doing it to get on TV, there. It’s pure.

Of course, they might be doing this to deliberately cause an uproar and increase fan base. It worked for the last season of Lexx. Nothing brings in viewers like controversy. Nothing causes producers to give up some video money like the threat of cancellation before the ending is written.

Either way, I hate the f***ers.

Hey, FunkELogan, I didn’t recognize you without the stanfacedzev avatar!

That’s funny, you come here because Lexx.com was too fast, and I went there because this was too slow, although it seems to happen in waves. I also use this one for reference. It’s much broader and organized into compartments, and I don’t have to sort through the OT’s, which makes it good for reading about other shows I like, and upcoming movies. I wish I could get Andromeda where I live, though. I would like to see it. *Sigh*.

And Fatguy, is that all? You’re not old! You ain’t old until you have to grab the grass to keep from fallin’ off the Earth. (Or is that drunk? Maybe both.)

(I may be posting here more since I decided not to post past #151 at Lexx.com, which means I have to find something to delete every time I want to say something. Why, who knows!)

Hey! Midori! You did more dollz! Cool! Aren’t they fun? And so easy (comparatively). I love the Kai one.

I just came over to add the smilies and my Xev doll, but I’ll just stick her here, where she fits:

No offense taken by me!

I lurk or post at different boards according to my mood and the board’s overall personality. I would like to post here more, but things don’t move very quickly here. I suppose that makes it more relaxing. I can stop by once a month and still catch up, which I can’t do at Lexx.com. I usually come here when I want to relax and read.

Sci-Fi’s format goes too fast for me. Also, I’ve been told not to promote my website there so much and been given suggestions on how to become more popular , (though it should be noted that the post they emailed from didn’t mention my website at all), so I only stop by there now to pick up new links that aren’t posted elsewhere. Every once in awhile I put something up geared toward individuals I like there, but I rarely stop back to see if there’s a response. There are individuals there I don’t care to hear from or about.

I generally go to Lexx.com for quick wit, banter and humor. (And to visit an ongoing discussion on British television in the French forum by people like me who hardly ever speak French, let alone write it. It’s too bad my name means “Fart” in French, though. LMAO!)

I think, also, there were a more OTs on Lexx.com while people left for Dragoncon, because a few people wanted to keep the site moving while their friends were gone. (I remember Fatguy saying something to that effect and designing or reviving some topics, but I don’t read many OT’s so I’m not sure exactly how far it spread).

HDS is not really imagining things there . We just missed you guys while we were waiting for your report!

I don’t know how helpful this is, but someone on Lexx.com was kind enough to give me this address for converting region codes for a Lexxian I know in Scotland.

Region Free DVD

I haven’t tried it, (honestly I didn’t even read much before I sent the address along), so I can make no claims about how it works or if it does it without damage to your DVD player, but there’s the address if anyone else wants it.
