Well I love HaHa’ing my friends. After all isn’t ridicule from the ones you love just part of being a friend. 🙂

But I do try…. try not to haha too many other groups with out walking a mile carrying their purse. Now, having walked that mile…. what can I say, all bets are off! 😀

Would it work though? Most programs that are going to be continued make sure to have a cliff-hanger/comeback hook in the right spot. They build, mini-cresendo, then build, major climax.

Would they be able to do that to Lexx without major re-cutting of the show?

Well the people voting are for the most part younger than you. 😀 Also, they almost never get it right, even the people voting will disagree.

VH1 does shows about various songs like ’50 Best Power Ballads’ and ‘100 one hit wonders’ and the one I disagree with the most, ’50 Most Awsomely Bad Songs.’ Lookat this list, there are lots of songs in here that I like. And lots more that I may not have loved, but did not make me immediately change the radio station. 😆

You can hear clips of them here.

My big problem with this is the HaHa crowd. They will gauffaw at a bunch of trekies or Warsies, or Whovians or freaking SCA’ers ect…. who are for the most part very nice people. While never looking at their own weird behavior.

Okay, so people like to dress up in costume and go to camping events and make like times of old, or re-enact their favorite episode. The problem with this is?????

For the most part they are with a group of people who understand and condone this bit of fun and they are not bothering the straights.

Now, your straights who belong to the HaHa club, see nothing wrong or werid about their own behavior.

For instance, what normal group of people spend their life chasing down an original radiator for 62 Chevy ‘mumble, mumble mumble’ short block. The car is a piece of crap and is more bondo than metal but that’s okay, we are going to spend the kids college money restoring it and someday pass it on to them. At which point in time, said kid who has grown to lothe the car will douse it with lighter fluid and set it aflame. This will enable the kid to spend a cheerful hour with their children roasting marshmellows over the burning hulk. Weird. Yet some people think this is perfectly normal, which goes to show it is more often your perspective on an act rather than the act itself that makes it seem weird.

Don’t even get me started on the Straight HaHa’er who think that going out every weeked and getting blotto is normal behavior. Clue. If you have to come back the next day and look for your car, you are not someone who should be throwing stones at others. 😀

    IMHO

    But what do you think?

Well we are off to an Lexxcellent start. So far we have $200.00 from auctioning off Volume 1 and 2 of Valdron’s Lexx book, and we have $200.00 from donations from Mike_L and FX. 😀 Yeah us!

If anyone has any ideas about fund raising, do let me know. Lexxish donations to be auctioned off are of course always welcome.

Designs for this years t-shirts and such would also be appreciated. Perhaps a Bunny-centric characture? 🙂

    Where are we at?

Well we have our fan table in the Marquis Lobby assigned to us.

With just a bit more on the donation side, I will be able to start working on a table in the dealers room. Ms. Z has expressed a wish to sell a few autographs and things and it might also be interesting for some of our more creative members to display their stuff when not being used by the cast or fanclub. (Pet where are you!) This has to be done pretty soon, these tables do sell out quickly.

Ellen Dubin has expressed an interest in DC2006 so I am looking for addresses and emails of the proper people to bug from her new show the Collector.

Oh and I found out that the Marriott rates are currently $119.00 (which is $30.00 BELOW what the normal convention rate is) so you may want to look in to booking early. While still not as cheap as the surrounding $80.00 hotels, when you factor in convenience of not shelping your gear with you all day and the expenses of daily communting or parking this becomes very doable.

    Anyhooooooo, any ideas are welcome.

    Also from my sci-fi group
Gerald Stewart writes – Hi!!

In the FIREFLY DVD set, on the 4th disk, select Special Features. Then select More to go to the 2nd screen of Special Features. Press “down” on your controller to highlight “Joss Sings the FIREFLY Theme” but instead of pressing “enter,” press the “left” arrow. The filigree pattern to the left of the picture will light up. Press the “enter” button on your DVD remote and you will hear Adam Baldwin sing the song “The Hero of Canton” from the episode “Jaynestown.” He even wears the knit cap that Jayne wears in the episode “The Message.” The duration of this hidden chapter is 2 min., 36 sec.

    Okay, ready?

The layout was interesting enough. But at first I was at a loss on how to actually view the ships. I almost left the page after reading the verbiage under the availability heading.

The archive button should be renamed something like View or better View Ships. Then the transition to that page needs to be speeded up. Really. They had this same problem in the first Star Trek movies. They spent so much money on the model of the Enterprise and filming the space scenes that the tendency was to linger, really linger. Thus you were watching the approach of the ship long after the initial WOW factor had faded. Not good.

The ships themselves are great, you should stick a few in a download section if your bandwidth can accommodate it. You said some are crap, fine not those ones then. 😀

Lastly, what the heck are those little dots on the bottom right of the page for? You click on them and get a static picture of a ship, but not the ship you were looking at. A little explanation please.

Over all an interesting page for your basic ship freaks. I forwarded the link to theBrother who is interested in ships. His favorite site is Jeff Russel’s Star Ship dimensions http://www.merzo.net/

I wonder if something like this is what happened to us?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Traffic resumed between two feuding Internet access providers on Friday, mending a rift that had blocked off portions of the Internet for thousands of users over the past two days.

Cogent Communications Group Inc. said rival Level 3 Communications Inc. had begun to accept its Internet traffic again after blocking it on Wednesday during a dispute over payments.
“We are pleased that Level 3 has taken (this step) to restore full Internet to their customers and ours. We welcome this move and hope and expect the peering connections will be maintained,” Cogent spokesman Jeff Henriksen said.

Level 3 was not immediately available for comment.

Other Internet users confirmed that traffic between the two large wholesale providers was flowing again.

“As of midafternoon this afternoon our understanding was that connectivity was re-established between Cogent and Level 3,” America Online Inc. spokesman Nicholas Graham said.

The dispute meant that thousands of Internet users, including customers of Time Warner Inc.’s Road Runner cable-modem service, were unable to send e-mail and view Web sites located on the other company’s network. Roughly 15 percent to 17 percent of the Internet was affected, Cogent CEO Dave Schaeffer said.

Large wholesale providers commonly hand off traffic from one network to another free of charge. But Level 3 cut off Cogent after it said it was handling too much of Cogent’s traffic.

Cogent said Level 3 was simply trying to pressure Cogent to raise its prices, which at $10 per megabit are far below the market average of $60 or so per megabit.

Cogent had offered a year of free service to Level 3 customers affected by the dispute.

Henriksen declined to say whether Cogent had agreed to pay Level 3 to handle traffic from its network.

According to Internet research firm Keynote Systems Inc., traffic between the two networks was flowing at speeds slower than normal. Speeds will likely increase as more connections are brought online.

Yeah, I have heard some good things about them, but not enough of a price break (yet) to make me retool what I already have. For instance it is only a $5.71 difference on book one. Considerable if you are going for mass market, but a pain to redo all the formating, proofing, cover design, sample copy purchase, re-proofing ect…
I have the first two Lexx books done with the 5 x 8 format, and the third one nearly complete. However, possbily something I might consider if I Valdron ever decides to let the books go to wider distribution.

On a weirder note. One of my co-workers (a lovely devote man) mentioned that the only soap opera he ever watched was this weird show ‘Dark Shadows’ I emailed him the theme later that day. He wasn’t sure which was scarier, me knowing the show so well, or me having instant access to locations where the theme song could be downloaded. 😆

We played it a few times in the office and a couple of other DS fans popped their heads over the cubicals wondering where the DS theme was coming from. ;D A whole gaggle of them where I work! What does that say about my employer I wonder? Or is it just that with so few channels available back them, that DS was an afternoon staple for lots of kids?

    It is criminal.

    1. Evacuation programs that do not plan for people without funds or vehicles are kinda useless.

    2. Letting hundreds (or more) of municipal vehicles remain in the flood zone is insane. What on earth were they thinking to leave all those buses and other equipment in harms way? When Dallas flooded about 15 years ago, we moved hundreds (thousands?) of vehicles to safety so we would have something to work with later. The water came up to fast too get our shop van out so we drove it up on the dock ramp engine first (it was too big to go all the way under the roof. ) we even ran several super small compact cars of our employees up there to save them. We used hand torches to cut down awnings and security fences so we could get vehicles from the heavy equipment shop out another way after the main road became too deep. The guys were still trying to drive all the new cars from make ready out until the water got higher than the engines could handle. We lost a bunch of them, but not half of what we would have if people from all the department had not pitched in to go drive them to safety. Did they not think they would need the d*rn things at some point in time?

    3. We could get food and water dropped to people who were not even in the continental United States in two days. We could get reporters and camera crews in and out or New Orleans, so why were people dying of thirst after four or five days?

    4. Who in the h*ll pats someone on the back and tells them they are doing a great job when four days have gone by and they have not yet moved any survivors to someplace safer than a damaged, pest laden, crime filled structure. Oh and many of those people have not eaten in that time either. but they, keep up the good work!

I can’t help wondering how much of it had to do with the fact that many of the first responders were currently overseas. Sure you can bring in others, if you can find them, but that takes time and they have NO local knowledge.

I do understand that many thought they could ride it out. After all, they have many times before. And some stayed for what seemed to them to be good reasons, like the woman who’s mother had just gotten home from open heart surgery and was too weak to travel. But ya know, I think four and five days was a bit long to get real help in there.

I am also pretty sure that the survival rate of people who weren’t as worried about the cost of a week in a hotel was a heck of a lot higher than that of the people who live paycheck to paycheck.

    Toothless with Kristie Allie
A female dentist is cast into limbo after her death in an accident and is given the assignment to act as the Tooth Fairy as her action to be admitted into heaven. She needs to correct her one flaw before being admitted to heaven: not being able to let herself go. Selected as a tooth fairy, she has to collect kids’ baby teeth every night, and soon learns the kids can see her, but not the adults. Inadvertently offering advice to troubled Bobby, she finds her fame spreading around his school. Soon, all the kids start “losing” their teeth to induce her visits, and get help with advice, lessons, bullying, etc. But the parents react negatively to all the talk of a tooth fairy, while Catherine gets into trouble for interfering with human lives..
I just tried to post in the friday post, no joy. Just gave me the error message and refused to update the post on the main board.

True, and also better than a sharp stick in the eye, but still. 😉

Ah well, it is not friday, so I guess I need to get ready for work. I have managed to cage four extra days of vacation in the last two weeks. Two of them getting ready for visit by theFather (what can I say? I am not a domestic goddess, so shoot me.) and two of them to spend with theFather and his GF.

I did however relent this visit and place the beds together. He was not amused last visit when I seperated them and told him “None of that in my house til you’re married!” 😆
However, take the whole episode of the WMD and the 45 minute claim that led to: 1) the death of fallguy Dr Kelly. 2)The sackings and gagging of the BBC for not playing the game. 3) And despite all of this fiasco of the Hutton report etc etc the wretched Mr Blair (a religious fundamentalist) is re-ellected with a majority that represents some 30% of the country…
Could be worse. You could have the Bush Monarcy. Bleh! I wonder if he was born this oblivious or if it is the result of drugs? Many, often ingested drugs? I blame Barbra. She seems like a nice enough lady, yet she bred with his father and allowed him to live. 🙄

I hope you all have a great time there. I know I enjoy the heck out of it. I am kinda bummed that I have to miss it this year, but the reunion this spring sucked *ALL* the money out of my wallet. :p

I have hopes that we can have a bang up Lexx-‘geezer time next year. Hey Kate, any chance you and tony can make it?

Ah, Friday sweet Friday. How do I love thee? Well perhaps not as much as Sidhecafe, but I do love it when it rolls around.

Of course, I use to love it more, when I was off Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 😀

Delayed?! Delayed? You are going to let Real Life take priority?!? And you call yourself a ‘geezer!

No, seriously, I hope the move goes smoothly. 😉

Gee, a Pennsylvanian who puts people in their place. Is that a trait you only pick up in Pennsylvania ?
Nope, we also learn to worship at the feet of the Pennsylvania Dutch bakers. Bushel Cookies Rule!
