I’m going to re-master the episodes sans commercials like I did with the entire season 3. While I have the video loaded into the computer, it will be easy for me to extract sound files. I’ll announce episodes that I’m working on as I complete them.

Hats off to Marty.
Oh wow! That’s so cool! That echoing electric guitar emphasized so well the unbelievable size of the Lexx. At the time, this was not an easy thing to convey with computer animation. (I know this since I went to school studying computer art at the time!) They executed that sequence so well! And I know that feeling; tear-to-your-eyes realization that the effect of your creation was achieved in a way that is beautiful.
This is what I felt when I finished my demo reel at school. Talking about this gestalt, this coming together of electric emotion inspires me to this day.

Yep, I started a thread last week called Lexx soundtrack consumption & digestion. No big deal! I was addressing the specific issue of where and how to get the soundtrack, etc. It didn’t talk about favorite tracks.
Here are my favorite tracks:
Tales From A Parallel Universe (1997) by Marty Simon
#5 Battle of the Universe – Used as the closing credits of all the episodes.
#12 The Lexx Escape – Used when the Lexx escaped the cluster. Also used for opening credits.
#14 Cleric Theme – I like it because it’s freaky!!!
#21 Moth Ride – Sometimes used when they ride around in the moth. It’s cute!Lexx: The Series (1997) by Marty Simon
#3 Prince To Lexx – This is the track used at the beginning of season 3 when Prince boards the Lexx. Very Cool!
#13 Xev’s Dream – Yummy, playful, delightful, xevolicious.
#17 Lyekka / Potato Hoe – No, not the Lyekka part! The Potato Hoe Part! It’s so goofy it makes me giggle! I can tell it’s all synthisizer, but that’s okay. I’d love to hear a real bluegrass banjo breakdown of that tune! (Yes, I live in Appalachia and we do wear shoes.)
#23 The Xev Show – Corny, but c’mon! It’s the Xev Show!!!
#26 Zev Dies – This is my favorite track of them all. It’s used whenever there is a particularly touching moment on the show. I commented about it in another thread about touching moments on Lexx. It contains a subtle variation of Yo-A-O.I’ve been able to find a number of tracks on AudioGalaxy.Com, but not all of them nor are they all complete or of good quality. (And beleive me, I’ve been searching!) I highly recommend buying the discs. They’ll be worth it!!!!
I’m in the process of obtaining the soundtracks through a local store that I like. Buyer beware! I received a new copy of Lexx: The Series but the disc, in fact, contained the wrong music! They goofed at the factory. I was amused more than annoyed. I’m still looking for both discs.

ParticipantAfter much consideration, I think I would want to be a Deltan, as seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. I’ve often wondered what it means to be a member of a “sexually advanced” race of aliens. I’ve been wondering for years.
But also consider the fact that I’m already designed in the style of H.R. Giger’s work in Alien and Species. Mix that with a little Lyta Alexander and Maya of Psychon and you get the wierd creature you see below in my signature. So maybe I already am my favorite alien? I’m sorry, I didn’t make myself clear. I meant that I was considering an attempt at creating a computer-generated model of the Lexx using 3d Studio Max. Max is the only 3d program I own and I’ll never have the money to buy Maya. I don’t know what programs they used to create the effects for Lexx, but I’m sure that it’s out of my price range. (It’s not like I wouldn’t know how to use them. It would be an euphoric pleasure to simply have access.)
I have no skills with creating plastic or resin models. I think the Lexx would be the creation of truly obsesive modelers like the ones who create replicas of the eagle spaceships from Space:1999.
I know what you mean, however. You can tell the difference between the creative and the boring, uninspired normals by looking at what they have on their computer desks at work.

“Live At the Royal Albert Hall” by Petula Clark! That’s exactly what it was. The first this I heard on the first track was “Ladies & Gentlemen, welcome [somebody] Clark!” That’s the one.

ParticipantThe weirdest thing happened today!
I had a local record store order me a copy of Lexx: The Series soundtrack last week. They called me and said that it arrived so I went down to buy it today. In the parking lot of the store, I open it up and put the disc in my car stereo.
NO LEXX! I’m waiting for the theme song and I get BIG BAND JAZZ. WTF!!! Needless to say I instantly returned it as a defective disc! They played it themselves and thought it was pretty amusing, too! They’ll order me another copy.
Has this happened to anyone else? I hope there aren’t tons of defective Lexx discs out there! (I doubt it.)

ParticipantWhat’s the problem, guys?
If people would like specific sound samples from SEASON FOUR, now is the time to bug me about it. I am planning to re-master the episodes sans commercials. I’ll be using a Pinnacle card and a hi-fi VCR. Sound files will be converted to 192kbit MP3s.
Just specify the line and where it appears in which episode. This is important.
It isn’t much problem for me since I’ll be converting entire episodes to 48KHz AVI files. But once I edit them to videotape, I’ll erase these files. I haven’t started this process yet because I have other work to do (Aurora…).

ParticipantI’ve figured it out. I feel that the most touching moments during seasons 2-4 are when they start playing the “Zev Dies” theme during the show. Whatever is happening in the scene while this track of music is playing, I love it!

ParticipantAll I’ve got to say is if there is no Kai, Stan, or Xev, it just wouldn’t be the same. I don’t know how well a spin-off series might do without those characters. But then again, good writers can work magic.
I say again that maybe they should create an entirely new show. Maybe make it similar to Lexx, or maybe make it more serious in subject matter, I don’t know. Lexx established a certain level of absurdity that was more or less sustained throughout the run of the show. Why not make an even more far-out space fantasy show? Load it down with sex! Push the limits even further!

Actually, this kind of thing is all too common with redneck families. The incest part is, in fact, quite rare (just as rare as any other part of the world). But fathers are protective of their daughters to an extreme degree with dumb hillbillies (or any other group of uneducated lower-class). This is sometime the cause of a major motivation on the part of the daughter to get the hell out of the house and away from dad. Redneck women are always on the lookout for men who can get them out of whatever horrible situation they are in (physical or sexual abuse, alcoholism-drenched poverty, whatever). Why don’t they just take charge and strike out on their own? Well, there’s this problem with abuse towards women which is very common with rednecks. A cycle of fear that I try to break whenever I witness it.
To get back to what Stan did with Sissy Gollean, I don’t think Stan did anything wrong. For her, anything is better than life with the Gollean clan. It was the other way around, DT790. Sissy took advantage of Stan.
What Sissy really should have done is moved to Atlanta, go to business school, and marry a performance artist from Canada.
This episode was yet another grim insight of the mentality of the post-Reconstruction Era southern United States.

ParticipantMy least favorite episode is 2.8 White Trash. It’s not a bad episode, actually. It’s just that it’s a depressing reminder of the dumb rednecks that live near me. The personality of Paw was right on target. There are way to many rednecks that are stupid, self-centered, and wife-beaters. The inbred part is not really true, but sexual assult upon their own children has been known to occur. One element that was left out of the portrait was religious fundamentalism, e.g. the southern baptists. Another element missing was the idiotic worship of football (american football, that is).
BTW, Sad, I was looking at your episode review of White Trash. I beleive the planet Vermil’s name is actually spelled Vrml. This is what I concluded when I first saw the episode on SciFi Channel several years ago.
In the mid-’90s, there was a new form of webpage design called Virtual Reality Markup Language, or VRML for short. Everyone just called it “vermil” instead of pronouncing the letters V.R.M.L., like we usually do for HTML (Hyper-Text Mark-up Language, which is used for almost all webpages). Myself and a few others experimented with it at art school. The results were stupid and cumbersome. And I think the language died, as far as I know.
In any case, the language did not catch on. And I have always suspected that the writers of Lexx were poking fun at VRML because “vermil” sounds like something someone with Grizzled Old Prospector’s Syndrome would say (c.f. MST3K episode The Final Sacrifice). Or maybe like Yosemite Sam saying to Bugs Bunny, “I’ll get you, you vermil!”

ParticipantOne of the most touching moments has to be when Squish saves the day in 4.0 Gigashadow. That last shot of him superimposed on the screen. Boo-hoo! My favorite cluster lizard! My hero!

ParticipantI’ve got a question. Would people be sad if I could not implement Xev’s cluster lizard roll? If I were to implement it, it would have to substitute the run animation. This might make Xev look really stupid during the play of most of a game. During a game, a player is usually running around most of the time. And if the lizard-roll were to be used, then it would seem like she is rolling around most of the time. Furthermore, all players are able to shoot while running. How would Xev shoot a gun while rolling around on the ground?
My own experienced judgement would be not to use the lizard-roll. HOWEVER, if a real videogame were to be made in the future I don’t think this would be an issue. In a real Lexx videogame, it would be simple to add another maneuver for the Xev player. All I’m doing right now is use the players from Quake as a template and there are only a certain number of maneuvers available.
However, on the third hand, it may be possible to create a mod that has this extra maneuver. I know it’s possible to somehow implement the grappling-hook weapon that Kai uses. Maybe I just need to research this further. For now, no lizard-roll.
