Its the exact same thing down here. Aparently some engineers got so annoyed by it a few years ago, that we know refer to annything off the engineering quad as “Happy Land”
In Happy Land, everyone is smiling, they’re yeakking on their ceel phones, throwing around frisbees, laying in the grass reading a non-requiried book, and generally enjoying themselves. But back in the engineering quad; all the engineers, cs’ers, physics, chemists, biology and anthropology majors have to deal with somethign like this:
In a high temperature, gas cooled fast breeder eactor, how long are the control rods, make no assumptions as to what the moderator is? Devise an experiment to determine how much energy a water strider normally expends while on the water, then compare how much energy is expended when tryign to excape a mating attempt? What is south of the south pole? Under what circumstance can a 1.4 au star becaome a black hole, describe in detail the process? How many faces is on a hyper-hyper cube when 1/3 of it is sharing the same space a a hyper-torus? WTF?

Crusade was aired durign the summer of 99. It was cancelled over creative differences. IE TNT thought they knew what was best for the show, JMS righfully disagreed. Eventually TNT just called it quits becaseu he wouldn’t play ball. This all happened before the first show was aired! TNT decided to try to make back some of the money they lost on making the 13 eps, so they aired what they had, and called it a “limited engagement”.

A lot of the sub-plots of Crusade were inspired by the bickering going on offstage. For instance the scene when decocrator is telling them what colors should be on the bridge, and unviels the new uniforms; is JMS’s way of saying stop screwing with my show. There’s a whole bunch of other jokes and stuff that he integreated into the show as a result of their idiocy. I’ll post ’em as I remember ’em.

JMS went to scifi to try to get them to pick up the show, scifi tried to get it into their budget, but they had already spent all their money on original programming for that year, so it was a no go. Ofcourse the following year they started showing reruns of B5. The reruns were a hugs success. Pulling in an average .9-1.1! This was accomplished without any real advertising. Scifi briefly aired ads for B5 2 weeks before they started showing it.
Crusade was shown last spring, as an experiment. It was to see if fans would accept a spin-off. It pulled in an average 1.1, which is very successful for scifi. Scifi by this point knew that a new series or movie would be succesful. So they ordered a new B5 movie. That’s where we are now.

Illegal alien, always complaining, number 4, rofl.

AKA, Stan the Man, El Supremo. What no “Tower of Power”?

I’m a little weary about his height though. Only 5’7″, I’m that tall, Brian is much taller then that!

Did you write down what all that fine print is? There has to be more subtle jokes in there soemwhere. Just like how there was a lot of jokes in the Kai: Henry 5th poster.

Thanks!

There’s a lot of “if this then that” stuff floating around. Here what we’ve got so far.

If the movie does well, then they’l make a rangers tv series.

If the tv series does well, then they’ll also bring back Crusade.

I rarely watch the news around 4 mst. But today was an exception. I was watching HN and I heard Andrea Thompson’s voice. I thought to myself, wow this sounds familiar, then remembered this post and thought, wow I finally get to see her outside of B5.

She looks different on HN. Doesn’t have that “holier then thou” arua about her. That and no gloves and differnt hair style.

I’m probably wrong about expedia.com. Just out of curiosity I put in Albuquerque to Hali and it said I can take Air Canada all the way up there. Which is stupid since Air Canada doesn’t serve ABQ.

I would love to go there and am currently trying to save money so I can make it to an Lexx convention “somewhere”.

I would recommend staying at Dalhousie U. up in Hali. But not because of the facilities, just the price. The rooms were smaller then the captains quarters in submarine films! If your a student (which I’m guessign you are) it will only be about $130 (Canada) for 4 nights, w/ tax! You basically get what you pay for though. Which is really just a private room and a bed w/ sheets. But you won’t spend much time in the room anyway, so it shouldn’t matter.

Airfare is whats going to kill you though. I just went to expedia.com and put in a flight from Sydney to Hali. (wed-mon) for July 13 weekend and it doesn’t look pretty. About $2,250 (US)

Ofcourse online travel sites have been expensive recently, so I’d recommend contacting a travel agent, or robbing a bank.

I’ll try to get the uncon date confirmed a little faster, so the airfare doesn’t go up any higher for you.

As you said, Stan is human. I believe one of the most “human” humans in all of scifi. He’s also a man. Human males think with their other head. So when you think about, Stan was just acting normally.

No I think it was a diffent episode then what your thinking since this is from s4. Unless you have showtime, it new to everyone else.

/spoiler maybe
In this episode Rene (hereafter refeered to as Odo)asked for Earth’s help in a great war. It turns out that the its a civil war. Odo’s culture is about 100 years ahead of earth and Odo’s enemy. But they’re all clones and evil. They want to exterminate the natural borns on their planet. They agree give sg1 all their technology in exchange for heavy water. O’Niell agress but then renigs when he finds out they’re like the nazis. O’Niell and Teal’c use the robot planes to escort the naturals in, to attack the clones, clones go boom, sg1 escapes in time, Odo goes squish on the iris
/end possible spoiler

This was from s4.

Next Episode you see get the title. Maybe we’re all on the same page afterall?

A history teachers’ lecture in 2031:

Shorty after the end of America’s War on Terroirsm, America and its closest alli, Britian, began a great war. We’re still unsure of how it started but we think it had something to do with a show called “Lexxx” and how often the citizens of each of those nations had sex.

Aparently one nation aired the finale of the show before the other, this resulted in a minor “billboard war”. We’re still unusre of waht this term is, but we know it had soemthign to do with the now extinct “world wide porno web”. These insignifigant conflict angered the citizens of those two countries, so much that the the two governments began to “crack” into each other Nuclear Weapon Systems. Again we don’t know who set off the other’s arsonel first but we do know that those two nations cannot support any life but roaches and farscape fans. Amidst all the choas, We the powerful and mighty CANADIANS stepped in an took over control of the planet. That is how we became the ultimate power!

Since this conflict started over who had sex more often, the elders decided to abolish sex, that’s why we’re all clones. (Sorry ouldn’t resist) By abolishing sex, they also elimanated the now unneeeded “wwpw” since it was only used to transfer porno from one computer to another.

Go Canada eh!
/end lecture

And on that note.

Flamegrape has a point, Elfie. Currently we can only detect gas giants no smaller then Saturn. Or 0.8 Jupiter Masses. We detect planet by the gravitational wobble they cause on their respective stars. Earth-like planets cause too little a wobble to be detected from this far away.

It should be noted that Sol is located in the middle of nowhere in the Milky Way. We’re not even in a rural area of the galaxy. We’re in like the Siberia of the Galaxy.

It could be worse, you could live in some fascist regime country where you can’t have tv. Beside America is the most backwards, we have all the new shows we just choose to space them apart and put them out of order.

While your technically 2 seasons behind USA in SG-1, most of the country is still on s4. As for Lexx, I think you watching s4 right now. Your 3 years behind in Trek. One last season of DS9, I liked the finale a lot!, 3 of Voyager, just stop watching now, its not worth it.I thought Farscape was cancelled down there?

I’ve noticed that too, and must’ve asked myself those same questions a dozen times. At first I thought it was just the porgression in special fx technologies. In teh movies 790 is very distorted. His face looked like a tv that isn’t gettign good reception. This improved in s2 but the colors still varied a little by episode. When we saw him in s3 things seems somewhat constant. s4 has had better and more realissic coloring. Even though it seems like it changes by ep.

So to answer your question, I have no clue.

Finally, from your clones in scifi post, Dagger from SeaQuest was a good clone too. Even though all the other “daggers” were evil.

While the infighting is annoying, IMHO it makes this one of the more believable treks. People don’t automatically get along anymore.

In B5 not all memebers of the same species got along with each other. I doubt that humans will ever be as nice to each other as they are in Trek. We have too many different cultures for that.
Conflict, no matter how small, is enividable.

note to headgehog-i hope this isn’t too spoilerish, if you deem it so, have fun editing your first post as a moderator. it is fun!

No thats fine. One sentence blurbs aren’t really spoilers. Unless its something major like who Rene’s character really was in last weeks ep.

But I’m still mad at you because you got an ep this weekend and I didn’t.

I’m getting a vibe that you don’t like Wesley.

Scifi announced originally that it would show reruns in the first 5 seasons starting in the first quarter of 2002. Instead it will have a weekday strip in the fourth quarter of the same year. (Fall ’02)

Thanks, I just noticed that theFrey appears as a committed sadgeezer in this forum too. So moderator must only appear in your own forums.

I look forward to discussing with you in the new forum. I hope to get it to be a popular realm. Hey it just passed Aeon Flux today with the total number of posts. That’s gotta be a good sign.

While we’re on the legalities topic, for the SG1 ep reviews can I temporarily put up the episode blurbs found on stargate-sg1.com or do I have to modify them first. I’m thinking that the former ir plagerism and therfore illegal. If I can’t its no big deal. I can write up my own little descriptions; whilst in the process of writing longer, fuller ones.
