I am talking of two scenes from the second version of the season 4 episode intro:

    1. Xev is firing on something with a big weapon which is spitting fire flashes, Xev has a hose over her shoulder

    2. nearly the end of the intro, the camera is approaching some guy sitting in the middle of a huge hangar or something, his head is wrapped up with bandages, only one eye and his mouth are visible (maybe it is Mantrid???)

Can you tell me what episodes these scenes are from?
I looked at several of the episode caps for season 4 and couldn’t remember seeing her with a big weapon, but I do have CRS now.

And Ships that Search. I really loved the Brain Ship books. Well most of them. There was one planet based one that had something about psi warlocks or some d*mn thing. Yuk.

The the others were excellent. Loved Helga and Hypatia. 😀 I even liked Simon. 😀

The Ship that Searched was my favorite.

I see that the NY Times has picked up on the Simpson’s Article. They had a long article about it today saying stuff like.
If there were an entry in the “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” for “painfully disappointed,” a picture of M.J. Simpson would pop up.

….. He said the movie – a satirical tale of a bathrobe-clad human, Arthur Dent, who escapes Earth just before it’s destroyed to make way for an interstellar highway by the villainous Vogons – lacked the book’s humor and energy.

Disney, which sank $50 million into the film, must have been horrified. The studio, which is distributing “Hitchhiker’s,” has been heavily courting Simpson, even inviting him to the set last year.

….the studio faces a tough audience. Fans of the “Hitchhiker’s” novel and its four sequels have been waiting 25 years for the movie, and in the run-up to its opening date this Friday, they’re excited and extremely nervous about what Hollywood will do to their precious book – especially since the movie will stand as a tribute to Adams, who died tragically in 2001 at the age of 49.

…..BATTLES ONLINE – Simpson, who cut a memorable figure during his visit to the “Hitchhiker’s” set last year in a “Hitchhiker’s” hat and a “Star Wars” tie, has been working hard to bring the movie down, even implying on his site that any positive reviews in cyberspace are plants by Disney’s marketing department.
I myself thought it looked interesting. I read the book, but way by no means a diehard fan. I imagine their biggest fear is the early viewers (who are diehard fans) might hate it and start a really bad buzz against it.
l see what you mean, do they have child maintence payments in the USA? if so that man sure better have lots of coin in his pocket, they take 25% of a mans income here per child if you split up . . . be it the mans fault or not
We have something simular, and yes it happens no matter who is at fault, since children have to be supported no matter what the parents do. I would imimagine the ororiginal thinking on this one went something along the lines of “you married him/her and choose to have a child with them, so if he/she turns out to be a jerk who files for divorce, utultimatelyou picked them in the first place, you still have obligations to the children who do not have a say in who their parents may be. ”

Sadly though, we have many parents who if not granted (or don’t want) custody begrudge every penny of this money since they don’t want to give it to “THEM” Idiots, the pack of them, unless you are a mega rich person, child maintenance amounts never cover the entire cost of raising a child. .

I think Jim Carrey would make a good Stan. He can do abject coward and then swing into minor hero mode. http://www.jimcarreywebsite.com/jhughesbiopic.gif

I personally would hurl trying something like that, but he pointed out that the mornings that it happen, were times when he was still hung over from indulging the night before. He was (at that time) a firm believer in ‘hair of the dog’ remedies and decided that since he was going to drink the beer for his hang over anyhow, he might as well save time by pouring it over his breakfast. Rolf sent two pictures from the Donovan Mini-series ‘The Conclave.’ One is with Brian Blessed, after he had become Pope. The other is a painted picture of Rolf’s Cardinal Bessarion character. No, it is a business thing. When they buy the rights (or rip them off via an uncredited knock-off) they then control the flow of the show, they have the ability to directly decide what, when, who, and how for a lot of different asspects. What you wonder? Well, Salary, hiring, firing, writer control, spin -off build ups, scheduling and that most important of all things…. profit. Especially profit from secondary sources like merchandising and product placement.

Oh, and they of course have first hand control over the people they will be making stars. None of this kid glove treatment required because the stars of the show opperate under different labor laws or are in another country and must be coaxed into doing (or not doing) various things. We own ’em, we can just tell them what to do.

It is all very simple you see. 😉

Dispite numerous attempts at a convo, cell phone reception problems in Texas and failing batteries in Flordia, I got a bit more info.

Anyhow, the site was apparently not abandoned, hacked or suspended. I could not get the full story due to the choppy communication problem, but I think what he said was that somewhere in the chain, between his own servers and the site (registar?) a change in protocol was made that should not have affected individual sites, but in some cases it did.

So it should be back up again soon.

The domain does not expire until 2006 per Betterwhois.com. Also the webmaster informs me that is it not being moved to a different hosting company. Of course other words like “Ep!” And “I’d better check and see what is wrong” were also uttered.

So I imagine that it was a server problem and it will be fixed in a few days.

The worst remake I have ever seen was the Three Musketeers movie with Charlie Sheen and Keifer Sutherland. As a teen, I remember going to the movies and then later watching on TV and VHS the series of Musketeer movies filmed with Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Michael York and of course Charlton Heston as Richelieu. They were excellently filmed, located, cast, costumed and written. I still laugh thinking about Richeieu at the very end, doing that little “One must be careful what one writes, and of course who one gives it to” speech. His little mental note to himself and then the weary little wave off of Michael York still cracks me up. 😀 😀

I was shocked when theBrother reported that the ’93 remake SHOULD have been Called D’Artagnan’s Excellent Adventure, but after seeing it I did have to agree.

While I admit, I have seen many “Excellent Adventure” movies in my life, I still maintain that this one was the worse. Not only did not build upon what came before it, but also managed take an adventure story that has definitely stood the test of time and make it boring and trite and not the least bit funny.

Who ever reserves the table has to be there to get it. Also you should have a roster in place of people who have committed to man the table. Groups that make a poor showing most likely will not be alowed a second chance. There is a lot of competion for the tables (which are free) and they want them to go to groups who make a good display, excite a lot of interest and follow the rules.

It can be both fun and tiring at the same time. 😀

Should you guys decide you want to do a ‘geezer table, you need to get some stuff taken care of now.

1st the table HAS to be manned from friday at noon to sunday evening…. they will say monday, but very few are mannned on monday. This means you need a roster of people who have pledged to man the table. Otherwise the con gods will smite thee down. They will have to be on site by 10 am each day. Room usually dies about 6. So that is a solid 8 hours a day that has to be covered. You need a roster

2nd You need display to attaract people. The con gods to watch to see if people come to the table. If the set up is skimmpy or avoided they may shut you down as there is a major waiting list for tables.

3rd all of the above need to be decide pretty too-sweet because you will have to request a table before they are all gone, or get on the waiting list.

I loved having one, but I will say it was a lot of making sure there were people there to man the table. Not always easy in a con this distracting. Many thanks to Mandara, Mike_L, Jhevz, Wade, Sara, Krodelka, Aleck, Beth, Corvus, Todd, the Corvus clan and many others for the assistance they gave last year.
