“Oh Knights who until recently said Ni! We beseech you….”
(as in the following are not really catch phrases but…)

    The Princess Bride:
Count Rugen has invited Humperdinck to watch Westley being tortured
Prince Humperdinck: Tyrone, you know how much I love watching you work. But I’ve got my country’s 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it. I’m swamped.
Count Rugen: Get some rest. If you haven’t got your health, you haven’t got anything.
(Vizzini’s rant about the poisioned wine is also a fav)

    Austin Powers, I.M.O.M.
Dr. Evil: “I’ve got a whole bag of Shush, with your name on it…”

    Beast Wars
“Waspenator rip you a new waste disposal unit…” Waspenator

    Darkwing Duck:
Darkwing: If you want to be a villain, you have to think like a villain. You ARE a villain!
Comet Guy: I ARE a villain!
    Darkwing: I AM a villain…
Comet Guy: Uh…but I thought I was supposed to be the villain?

    LOTR
    “My Precious…” Gollum

-and that was when the fit hit the shan…

    sorry…I should have specified πŸ™

A dead rotting donkey to Solaris Remake.

A dead rotting donkey to War of the Worlds Remake.

I try to put the books aside when I watch a movie adaptaion as the different genres both offer beautiful nuances each other cannot capture.

I don’t don’t mind when a movie is slow like the original Solaris, the story is still awesome(I am used to “slow” as I watch a lot of foreign films..ever seen “Light the Red Lanterns?, one of my favorites).

I just hate remakes that take an intelligent and interesting story and strip it away into a 2D picture.

    anyways…. πŸ™‚

hmmm…..have to say I have watched the odd ep of Buffy (Spike is quite yummy IMO). Does this make me a bad parent? Bad parents are bad parents and will watch whatever they are into, be it Coronation Street or the computer or whatever, while their children are around instead of spending time with them (whether the show is approp or not). I haven’t watched Lexx, Red Dwarf, Dr. Who, BSG, Firefly, ST, Farscape, Buffy, etc…WHILE my son was up and about, not even as an infant. Josh Wheadon may write in a particular sci-fi/fantasy genre that you don’t care about, so just ignore it.
There are many sci-fi shows that don’t have much tech behind them or they don’t bother to explain it. Those who think they are engineers don’t watch them. All Sci-fi offers us a different perspective on life, a what if…and we enjoy it ’cause it is different.

there are SWASHBUCKLERS like Battlestar, Firefly
there are the COMEDIES like Red Dwarf, Lexx
there are DRAMAS like Star Trek, Farscape (if you can get past the muppet)

Each show is hopefully well rounded enough to have more than one element as its primary focus. Just like books, we don’t want to read Hebert all the time not do we want to read Anne McAffrey all the time…but I’m glad they are both available. If you like to watch the CSI of the Sky….enjoy! Just don’t cast your distainful glance my way..I’m too busy watching Dark Angel…

All the characters were walking through a cave when one of them took of his head!! Apparently it was an Android but I was 6 and didn’t know that.

hmm…I have to say I enjoy Firefly and happily await the movie (of course that has bit me in the butt before, I happliy awaited Hitchhikers).
While the storylines are simple, the characterizations are wonderful(as well as the actors who play them) and the odd one-liner can make the whole show. I think Joss’s shows fill a need for sci-fi/fantasy that is sorely needed. Fun, quirky, and totally watchable.

    hmm….interesting ideas…

just a thought, however (I am prob missing the vital point). If the Cylon trillium base is too far out for the base ships to jump to without having the fuel from the base to jump back with, it would make a rather useless or not very efficient place to have a refinery. The ships would have to be able to store more fuel than they would need for the jump?

I believe Rhade grew up on “Sarah’s” hidden planet with all the rest of the families from the Commonwealth ships that she could save from the Maggog.

I think that this is why Rhade is not very “Neitzschean” as he probably did not grow up with all the Dogma, or the hard life, that the beautiful Tyr did.

….As for Trance, since there is a version of herself in every alternate reality/universe?, I guess it gives the writers great leeway whenever she gets abandoned or apparently killed off as to how or when she mysteriously returns.????

hmmm….I wonder if the woman who is suing would sue a breast-feeding mom who did so in public? No lawyer would take her case on that aspect I’m sure….
I think the bru-ha-ha is silly. I wouldn’t have wanted to be sitting there watching the show with a younger child…but it seems that for most people, football is mostly about being out in the sunshine drinking a beer….same as baseball…same as hockey (except then it is inside in the cold…drinking a beer.) So beer and boobies…seems a good mix?
Poor Janet has to do something to revive her sagging career (I guess with something that dosen’t sag?) Anyone who has seen a Janet Jackson video would know what her pornformances are like and if that was an issue, shouldn’t have booked her.

ADM the only exception I need to take with your comment….why do you jump to the conclusion that the woman who is suing must be a “bible-basher”. Perhaps a personal bent on the issue? I have a bible…I can bash you with it if it would make you feel better πŸ˜€ Hold out your hand please…

Alberta is an excellent place to be….I could drive to B.C. and check out Andromeda being filmed without having to live in B.C. (I Love B.C. but it seems very hard to get a good job there besides paying a fortune for property).

I have lived in many places in Alberta, and Edmonton and Calgary are the best!

Lots of movies are filmed out here in the west (I know Toronto prob has more) and you can easily sign up to be an extra (which is loads of fun).

It is too bad there aren’t more members from Alberta….too many people here succumb to Trekkie land and Baldors Gate.

I think perhaps you have something with the hair idea there. Rock stars have big hair…and lots of groupies. Perhaps Hair and not the old adage of feet is the new indicator of….Anyways maybe Stan should grow out some hair..although I don’t think back hair would count.
And yes, poor Tyr…I am sure it makes Keith more comfortable not to wear his steel mesh shirt, his blades, and now his big hair…but then, beauty is always at the cost of comfort, isn’t it?

😳 well, I am obviuosly replying to an old post but feel like doing so anyways….

The Sorbo-suck-o-rama show is not looking good for viewing into a 4th season. I can hardly bring myself to watch it anymore (never mind write about it [hands head in shame for letting down fellow sadgeezers])

However, now that I no longer have pregnancy hormones coursing through my veins I may be more tolerant of the drivel…provided the “new mom lack of sleep syndrome” does not make my nerves too frayed (although it may dull my wits enough to enjoy the program once more).

As an aside, I saw Sorbo on a Canadian show, “City Line” and he does not even seem to like his own show and talks about doing something else. Too bad Dylan Hunt could not be killed off and the show continue on….to a brighter future? πŸ™‚

hmmm….Don’t cry to hard over Rev Bem. I’m sure he’ll be back some day. He’s more like, “missing in action” right now but presumed dead. So if the creators wish…

I believe the very talented actor who portrays Rev either
A: didn’t like spending hours every day having make-up applied.
B: Developed an allergy to the make-up.
or C: Like everything else cool on this set, like Trances Tail, that might increase the budget…”Chop, CHOP!”

This season has been very boring. I have actually enjoyed watching StarGate, which appears before it, more than Andromeda…which means I’m desperate.

Okay, when is the universe going to stop spinning around Dylan? When are the other characters going to get more screen time? When is Harper going to get some action?
    For crying out loud!
    let’s have a little more in-fighting.
let’s see those damn huge bots again kicking ass…(oh yeah, Tweedle Dee & Tweedle dum)
and when are these crappy cliff hangers going to produce some character deaths?
not that I want anyone in particular to go, but why get excited about a teaser?

Well, I didn’t end up reading all the thoughtful responses but still wanted to put my own two cents in anyways so forgive me if I reiterate a previous post.

I don’t want to watch “Sci-Fi American Pie”.

    Please.

Lexx is included in this..although it has it’s merits, I am not impressed.
Everything good is in balance, yin/yang, bad/good, male/female, Deep Space 9/Enemy mine. I don’t want something that has a predominant thread with weak interlacing topics, and for @#$$ sakes, kill off characters. EVERY cliff hanger, I want to see someone go.

I don’t want to see humans put down for being human. I don’t want to see humans epitomized for being human. Why should we have aliens who always seem to have cooler genetics than we do? Why have aliens who never have the correct solution to a problem?
Give me a series like the movie, “The Princess Bride” ….

“Fencing. Fighting. True love. Strong Hate. Harsh Revenge. A few giants. Lots of bad men. Lots of good men. Five or six beautiful women. Beasties Monstrous amd gentle. Some swell escapes and captures. Death, lies, truth, miracles, and a little sex.”

I realize I am supposed to list shows I hate and love, but after the first season or premise they all seem to fall apart…except for that damn “Friends”.

Respectfully (especially to those many I admire whom enjoy Lexx),
