Orguss ran for 35 episodes in Japan from 1983 to 1984; U.S. Renditions released 17 of the episodes (dubbed) on video, but never finished them, which is a shame since Orguss has a great storyline, well developed characters and some of the funkiest cool-looking mecha around. “

You could well be thinking of The Sentinels.
It was to be a 65-episode sequel to the Robotech TV series, detailing the adventures of the REF on Tirol and other worlds conquered by the Regent, king of the Invid. For financial considerations described more fully by Carl Macek in _Robotech: Art III_, the project was canceled, though the story was rewritten by Jack McKinney in a novel form, and published by Eclipse comics in a graphic form. Both new media dramatically modify the plot as described by Macek in _Art III_, especially toward the end of the series.
The footage for the first three episodes were completed before financial complications doomed the project. These episodes were rearranged, with new dialogue and some old footage added, and were released on videotape, originally through Palladium books, later through Streamline, and currently via the E3 DVD inclused in the third ADV Robotech box set.

The Robotech Movie often reffered to on the web is actually Robotech : Do You Remember Love.
Now, something that I have, and is totally freaking awesome, is ROBOTECH : THE MOVIE.
This was only ever shown once in the US. Unfortunately, there was a massive fight with regards to the rights/distribution of the movie between the Japanese and American companies, and it was never properly released.
It was taken from bits of the Robotech Second Series, and an Anime Movie called Megazone.
This Robotech Moive is, in my opinion, one of the best films, if not these best, Ive ever seen. I think it would make a perfect movie.
What happens is that a super computer uncovers a plot by the earth government to cover up an alien invasion. The computer links itself to a computer on a highly secret Robotech motorbike. This motorbike is stolen by an army guy who is killed, but only after he’s got it to a bike gang friend of his. It’s the ultimate anti-hero guy who opens the worlds eyes. I watch the movie maybe once a month.Megazone 23 is now a seperate anime series.
If it’s Robotech, I’ll know it.

The series was broken into three chapters, “The Macross Saga”, “The Robotech Masters”, and “The New Generation”.
Macross (Super Dimension Fortress Macross), Southern Cross (Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross) and Mospeada (Genesis Climber Mospeada) were three separate Japanese Animation television series that were combined to make Robotech.
These three shows were licensed from Tatsunoko Studios for international distribution by Harmony Gold. These three shows form the three chapters of the Robotech series and are sometimes referred to as The Macross Saga, The Robotech Masters and The New Generation.
Macross Plus is a popular spinoff of the original Japanese-language Macross series that was produced in 1994. Based on Earth and planet Eden in the year 2040, it presents a new generation of experimental transforming fighters against the futuristic backdrop of New Macross City centered around the Do You Remember Love -version of the SDF-1.
DYRL, short for Do You Remember Love?, is a retelling of the original Macross series in a feature film animated by Tatsunoko Productions in 1984, sometimes called Macross: The Movie.
MACROSS was initially brought to the United States for a direct-to-video release in the fall of 1984. The first videotape (featuring a direct translation of the first three episodes) was produced before the decision was made to market the show for television. Back in 1985, when Robotech was first broadcast, there was a minimum 65-episode requirement for daily strip syndication. To fill in the necessary episode requirement, SOUTHERN CROSS (23 episodes) and MOSPEADA (25 episodes), were combined with Macross to make up the 85-episodes of Robotech. An additional episode, #37 – “Dana’s Story” was created specifically for the Robotech series as a bridge between The Macross Saga and Robotech Masters chapters. Using footage culled from several Macross and Southern Cross episodes, “Dana’s Story” introduced Dana Sterling as the daughter of Max and Miriya Sterling.
The rest is history.

I have a love of those shows. My brother and I built an AC Cobra, and one day someone phoned to tell me that there was a program called ‘a car is born’ where they document the building of an AC Cobra.
I watched it when it was on… it was ok, but the program after it was the program that captivated me : the OCC. I loved it. I like the ol guy. I think it’s his son whose the snotty nosed one. The friction is fantastic. Their work… amazing.
Great program. I can’t get enough of it.
I’ll probably get shot down for saying this… but I think that it would be rather cool if the next Harry Potters are mini-series and not movies.
As long as they have the same cast. 😛

My review –
I’ve seen it three times now.
Believe it or not, it’s my least favourite. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. I loved it. It was great. In my opinion it could have been a lot better with not much extra cost.
Firstly, it was to short. I could have sat through four hours of Prisoner of Azkaban with a boyle on my bum and a bursting bladder… purely because it’s Harry Potter.
The special effects were awesome, for lack of a better word. Apart from the last shot of Sirius when he flies away on Buckbeak. That looked a little ‘stop-motion’ to me. Reminded me of Clash of the Titans. (great though it is)
I think that Grint’s performance as Ron is by far the best performance.
Oldman played Sirius well, although I kept thinking that Sirius isn’t supposed to be that short.
I didn’t like the lack of explantions to certain events and objects ie the map and who the characters were.
I also felt that it didn’t show enough of The Weasleys and the Hogwarts staff.
The two things that bothered me most were :
– Lack of explaining sub plots/events.
– The editing. It was so stop start. It was poorly cut and the pin hole fade outs were pathetic. Especially the end freeze frame of Harry at the end of the movie.
I must admit that some of the screen shots were breathtaking. The Dementors were terrific. This movie was always going to be hard to do, as it is my favorite book, and what the book offers that a movie can’t was that there was always a fear within the school of Sirius being out there. No matter what is going on in the book there is mention of Sirius in every chapter. You don’t get that suspense in the movie.
My best bits
– The Lupin full moon transistion. The best werewolf Ive ever seen on screen, and thats saying something. If I was 10 years old and I saw that I would have planted a warm coil in my underpants.
– Ron’s spider nightmare. Damn fantastic! Especially Harry’s chirp, ‘you tell them Ron!’
This is definately the movie of the year so far, and probably will remain the years best movie.
I feel, beyond doubt, that they could make all seven movies provided the current cast is kept. I didn’t notice them looking older than they’re supposed to be. They looked like lankey teens. If they did a movie every year and a half I could see this being a 7 movie saga with the greatest of ease.
Thats the thing stormsweeper, I think this guy thinks that Macross and all it’s spinoffs are Robotech.

The Frey : Im not sure US VHS works. It’s not like a dvd where you can get region free. Im pretty sure Kenya is a PAL system.
Just checked right now. DSTV is on offer in Kenya.
It makes sense as it’s a South African owned Geo stationary satellite anyway. As long as it’s the Southern Hemisphere it should work as long as the dish points that way.

I don’t have a problem here, I love it. Thats not to say I havent had posts deleted. You’ve just got to decide wether it’s best to adjust or to leave.

😛I don’t see how the two part could be done well. The Potter books always lead up to a climatic final. I don’ t think there would be enough ‘cinematic substance’ to split Goblet of Fire into two movies. Unlike The Two Towers where they altered the battle to be more larger so as to end the TT off nicely, there is not much in the story to blow up after the GoF tests.

I follow the HP news at http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org They have all the latest news as well as links with the cast and production crew. The last news from the producers is that they are going to shoot the whole movie at once, then leave it up to ‘editing’ to see what they cut. It will, however, be very long. Thats a fact.
I thought it was fun, but nothing special. One thing that did make me think, was that it’s time we a had a decent horror movie come out. It’s been too long.
