I haven’t seen the tv version yet, so I can’t give it the thumbs up or down.

Reading the comments here a few warning bells are starting to ring in my simple head.

Two of the most successful sci-fi computer games of all time were called Star Control I & II. The first and second games were huge hits and had a fantastic and original sci-fi background story. It developed a massive cult following. Anyway, cutting it short, the makers, Fred Ford and Paul Reiche, were excluded from Accolades Star Control III. Star Control III was the biggest flop in Accolades gaming history. The moral is simple, that without the original creators, it lacks the originality that made it successful in the first place.

Still from the sound of it, the tv series is pretty damn good.

    My three picks

Blink 182’s “all the small things”. With the charts being dominated by all sorts of pathetic boy and girl bands, out comes the punk rock masters with a video so perfectly spoofing the current videos. The first few times I saw it I couldn’t stop from laughing out loud. MTV has it labeled as the funniest music video ever.

Anouk’s – “The Dark” appeals to me. It was so abstract and different. Just like her music. Ground breaking and cool.

Robbie Williams “Rock DJ” I think it was banned and edited within one day of airing on MTV. You can find the original on the internet, where he rips his skin off and throws bits of his flesh and organs at the roller bladers until hes just a dancing skeleton. Way cool.

Best – The End of The Macross Saga : when a broken Rick Hunter answers Lisa Hayes when she asks what next whilst looking out over the devastated city, by looking up at the stars and saying simply, ‘beyond…’

Worst – End of Lexx series 4. Sucks to your ass-ma!

Another good ending I liked (but for a horror movie) was the end of the movie ‘interview of a vampire’ when Lestat jumps out of the back of the car to bite the reporter.

Valdron – Interesting. It’s definatley something I’ll look into. One or two things you’ve said are not correct ie: He was crucified. That was recorded by the Roman courts.

Still, a lot of what you said is very interesting if true. Guess I’ll have something to do in my spare time over the next week or two. ๐Ÿ™‚

Valdron – Your comment interests me.

Whether or not one believes that Jesus is the son of God is one thing, however, to say that he is/was a mythical person is a bit careless.

It’s a fantastic thing the Roman Empire kept records, as it allows historians to recount various important periods of that time. There most definitely was a man called Jesus who claimed to be the son of God and that he had a massive following.

This was recorded by many different religions and nationalities.

For me, Dead Poets Society is the best movie that has taken a moral stance on life, as we know it.

Then again, the movie relied heavely on classic poets.

Religious movies don’t work for me. As far as my understanding is, the bible/koran/whatever is about a relationship between you and God. It is your own interpretation from reading the bible/koran/whatever that is important. Watching someone else’s interpretation on the screen isn’t exactly right.

Spathi Ships from Star Control and the trash collector from Space Quest 5 are cool ships.

Then, of course, there is the Lexx. No more need be said about it.

The coolest space ships in the history of sci-fi come from Robotech though. The human Veritechs, the Zentradi Battle-pods and the SDF-1 are the ultimate. There has never, and will never, be better.

Best ever… last episode of Robotech Series 1.

Khyron pilots an extremely shot up Zentraedi battle cruiser into the SDF-1 with his cool sadistic smile. With his face burning up before the explosion he laughs out loud and then !!!BOOM!!! He takes out the humans flagship in one mother of an explosion, killing loads of people.

To top it off, the remaining skull sqaudron Veritech pilots land on the SDF-1 and in mass suicide they fire everything they have at the battle cruiser to try and break it up before it hits their flagship.

So much carnage. So much death. So @!##!$ epic!

    Yay!

On hot steamy Durban days nothing beats an ice cold beer. Or even a lager somtimes. Castle Lager is one of the best drinks on this planet. Then again, in freezing weather, nothing beats a good old milk stout.

    economics = supply and demand.

Your crusade against the West has blinded you to the simply obvious. Most of the money from research does come from the African and Asian continents. Western money is often donated to those Countries to help them. Drug industries base their research and development on profits, not “Western Profits”. Where they get their money from is of no importance to them.

Like I said, Bono has good intentions, but doesn’t understand the problem. If you judge by intentions, then you would have to admit that most of the American government is good, because they are doing what they think is best. Somehow, I don’t see you doing that. ๐Ÿ˜›

Genocide is a strong word, and the way in which you use it makes me think you don’t understand the meaning of it. The results of disease in Africa is devastating. You can’t fathom it. You haven’t seen what people like me have seen.

My mother, along with a group of other people, helps to run an aids orphanage on the outskirts of Durban. Trust me, it’s not something people want to see. The most common medication is morphine. That’s all they can do to make these poor children as comfortable as possible. It is a terrible and horrific problem we face here in Africa.

To sort it out, you have to look at it without emotion. You have to look a the cold hard facts. There is no conspiracy of the West to kill out black people in Africa. Human nature is one that pursues gain. By this I mean profit. If the cure or treatment is not profitable, the cure and treatment will take much longer to come about.

The best way at the moment to combat Aids in the world at the moment is prevention. However, in Africa this is a major problem because most of the ethnic groups in Africa have incredibly promiscuous cultures, and trying to change/educate their ways is seen as not very politically correct.

There are many great people doing wonderful things to combat aids; you should do a little bit of research Fatguy. You would be surprised with what you would learn.

Sadly, not enough is being done.

Bono is an idiot. He has good intentions, but he’s dumb.

This whole generic drug campaign is a boiling cauldron. The people campaigning for cheap drugs intentions are really great, but grossly misguided.

Bono means well, but his whole campaign is stupid. He and his crew haven’t a clue about the third world, in particular, Africa and it’s economics (lack there of).

The simple truth is that with more profit comes more research for more funding, which in turn results in new and better drugs.

When you look at the whole picture, it is as clear as day light… a medium needs to be found. Generic drugs are not the answer, but an impending doom.

like you said, most of the stuff is rumours.

I know that ‘Harry Potter And The Mudblood Revolt’ and ‘Harry Potter And The Quest Of The Centaur’ were recently registered as trademarks at the UK Patent Office by a company called Seabottom Productions. Seabottom Productions reportedly shares an office with Warner Brothers’ London lawyers. While they may be the titles of the last two books, Im still skeptical. Other titles have been trademarked by Warner Brothers in the past years including ‘Harry Potter And The Pyramids Of Furmat’ and has not been used.

JK has mentioned often that Sirius is gone for good. (Curse her and her children!)

    with you Saddy.

I feel really strongly that they should have left the Matrix as one movie.

Still, as a long time hard core anime fan, I am upset that they didn’t go closer to the matrix comics, and shown that the machines are actually more peaceful than the humans.

It was the humans that started the war, and the machines that wanted to live in peace.

None of that came through in the movie.

I tend to find the graphics of part two and three to be too fake. I often think that the more understated graphics are the way to go. Like with Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter. (Although the wolves scene in The Two Towers looked cheap). I think the more time the crew can spend on graphics the better. Reloaded reminded me of Star Wars 1 & 2… fake and crappy looking. With Harry Potter its hard to see where the difference between graphics and sets/props are.

apart from the usual (Blink 182, Anouk, A, Zebrahead, Jimmy Eat World, Lit and Feeder) Ive been listening to “simple plan” lately. They’re a bit pop, but Im bored as hell with music out now. Ive also been listening to The Ataris. It’s wierd how it caught my eye. I saw them on MTV, and their album is called ‘so long, Astoria’. Astoria is the town the Goonies lived in. I checked the internet and found out this IS why they called the album. They’re all Goonies fans. Of course, I used kazaa to find some more of their stuff. It’s okay, they’re a cover band more than anything though. Lots of 80’s rock repunked. Tis okay.

I grew up on He-man, I had, and still have today, more than 220 He-man toys. Action figures, castles and accesories. I was never able to give them away, and am super stoked I kept them now days.

The thing that most influenced me was watching Robotech. I used to rush home from school and get the tape ready an hour before hand. I taped everyone and used to watch them again and again.

I also grew up on comics. I have a huge comic collection, supposedly one of the best in the province. I am a DC man, with almost every single Green Lantern (Hal Jordan ones) from 1969 to 1992. I also have just about every single Justice League (A,E&I)from the start until the early 90’s. I have thousands of comics. All sorted and sealed.

Of course, I still watch cartoons. At the moment, my top 5 would be :

1)Spongebob sqaurepants (I like it so much I bought some dvds off amazon)
2)Rocko’s Modern Life (Aussies make me laugh. So do fat people. How could I not love this?)
3)Batman of the Future (Damn, those cartoon chics are hot!)
    4)Dextors Lab
    5)Southpark
