Thanks, I’ll give re-sizing it after scanning a whirl. I’d love to get more feedback on it. The angles are a bit better, with the eyes projected more uniformly, and the chin set a bit better, but something is still not quite right.

Let me see what I can do about getting this uploaded to photoisland. I’ll be back. Oh, and I would love to see some of your work, too, Cesare. Plif has some cool work in the Fan Art section you might want to check out as well. ๐Ÿ˜€

Sure. ๐Ÿ˜€ I have a quick question maybe someone more tech-minded than myself can help me with. How do I scan it without the pic coming out so freakin’ huge? When I do it, it comes out so big you can see every pencil stroke. Takes forever to load, too. Thanks. ๐Ÿ˜€

Yeah, I’ve read that one. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ Is there a rating higher than X? ๐Ÿ˜† No, that one wouldn’t translate well on to the big screen. ๐Ÿ˜†

I was thinking more along the lines of telling it without the randy daughter. Maybe even having someone escape, perhaps one of Thodin’s band, with information that leads up to the current story. Maybe Stanley gets this information from the dying rebel and that’s how he becomes a designated data courier.

It’s hard to say what time period the Ring Torben story comes from, though. Lexx timelines make my brain throb.

I think an effective S5 would have to be a complete break with the original Lexx. Cesare’s idea of looking at the heretics would be a good place to start, with a largely new cast (maybe cameos or a small recurring role for Stan the Man) and story line.

There was a time when I wondered if I could become attached to an all new cast set in the pre-Lexx days, but then I read a fantastic fan fiction centered around Thodin’s grandfather called Protoblood Brothers. It’s posted on http://www.scifi.com/lexx if anyone is interested.

I was amazed at how quickly I came to like the characters in this story. There was a little cameo by Kai and Vlad in it, but really, the story stands on its own without any support from the current Lexx characters. With a good cast and interesting characters, a pre-Lexx series could work.

In my time in Lexx fandom, I have read ( and written ) a large quantity of fan fiction. I have stumbled across some incredibly well-written stories. Not the kind of silly stuff I toss out there, but well-thought out concepts that are in keeping with the Lexx spirit. A continuation of Lexx needn’t be in the form of a movie or a season 5. I would love to be able to read Lexx novels. With books, the possibilities are endless.

[Edit: I just read your post, Cesare. I love the idea of Xev being betrayed by the man she falls in love with. Having been in a box, she doesn’t always make good decisions where it comes to men. It shows a vulnerability to Z/Xev that makes her very ” real “.

I also like the idea of telling the story from Kai’s victim’s POV. Do you remember how Kai describes tracking Ring Torben into the center of a planet? It might be cool to tell that story. Who was Ring Torben and why was he so important that he had the resources to nearly evade Kai?

    Oooh, this is fun. ๐Ÿ˜€

Cesare, I think you have some intriguing thoughts. A miniseries based on the current Lexx character’s past histories is a great idea. As you said, conceiving the ideas is a lot easier than executing them, but it’s still fun to think about.

For the Xev one, I think she could somehow escape her box and fall in love, only to be recaptured by the Wife Bank and have her memory erased. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I have often wondered how Stanley came to be with the Heretics. Possibly, knowing Stan’s luck, it was a comedy of errors that brought him into the fold. Or perhaps he joined to impress a woman. There are those who may say Stanley couldn’t be motivated to such a thing by a woman, but I disagree. Stanley Tweedle is just full of surprises.

One of the best Kai fan fics I ever read dealt with his tenure as an Assassin. I think you could definitely come up with a story where Kai regains his faculties temporarily and nearly fufills the prophesy before he meets Stan and Zev.

Let’s see, 790’s back story… Maybe he was actually a female impersonator in his pre-robot head days, which would explain his confusion. O.K. I’m reaching, but you get the point.

It even just struck me that a back story to Prince could make for a great story. In Heaven and Hell, he tells Kai that he doesn’t really know much about himself, and there are some moments in S4 that seem to bear that out. He doesn’t seem to know where he comes from, or if he has always existed. What if he was once human? What if he came to be as a result of a bad decision on his part? It would be a bit like writing mythology. It might be fun. ๐Ÿ˜€

Although I do think a continuation of Lexx is highly unlikely, and probably unwarranted, I still enjoy imagining the possibilities, too. ๐Ÿ˜€

I have a Dexter watch. Yes, at 31 years old, I still consider a cartoon character watch a fashionable accessory. You don’t know how many adults ask for the time just to hear me say in Dexter’s voice, ” It is a fine time for science! ” Or they see the watch and exclaim ” Dee Dee! What are you doing in my laboratory?! ”

The day I give up kid things is the day they plant me. Oh, and Harry Potter rocks, too. *sticks out her tongue*

maby cause this board has too many forums.

Personally, I like the way the board is divided up into different forums. It keeps things on-topic. In fact, we might consider adding a few more forums, just to keep things tidy and orderly. I’m thinking of a ‘Teen Angst’ or a ‘Flagrant Self-Promotion’ forum. ๐Ÿ˜›

I’ve never been able to get through a Buffy episode either. But I don’t feel the need to come to this forum to trash someone else’s favourite show.

Dude, if you feel the need to come here and alienate other Sadgeezers just because Buffy reminds you of a girl from high school, then perhaps what you need is not a message board but a highly qualified child therapist. 1. Kai[/b] You gotta love the way he talked smack to HDS despite the fact that his planet was just obliterated and he himself was nearly dead. What pluck! I kept waiting for him to tell HDS, ” I’ll bite your knees off!!! ” Then there’s just the coolness factor. Kai’s tall, dark, and as deadly as they come…*sigh*

    2. Han Solo[/b] In my mind, Han Solo is the only Star Wars good guy that could be classified as ‘ cool ‘. I could never go for the squeaky clean Luke Skywalker type. Han was just the right mix of bad boy and hero. Oh, and that mischeivous smile he had! *drool* This little geekette had Harrison Ford all over her bedroom walls back in the day.

    3. Ace Rimmer[/b] Did I mention the coolness factor? Anyone who can impress the Cat with his style and elan is a hero in my book. ๐Ÿ˜€ What woman wouldn’t swoon over a guy that comes to your rescue surfing on the back of an alligator, with SS officers in hot pursuit, and still finds the time to proposition you? What can I say but, “Whadda guy!

    4. Worf[/b] Coolness factor at work once again. Worf was just bad*ss. He was a bit like Kwai Chang Caine, a man who didn’t belong to any of the cultures that made up his heritage. He gave up what was most important to any Klingon in order to protect a society that never accepted him. He was more a Klingon that any of them living on the home planet.

    5. Captain Kirk[/b] Ahead, coolness factor 10! Kirk was the proto-space swashbuckler. He was far busy saving the Universe and getting the girl to be bothered with Starfleet Command and the Prime Directive. Real heroes can’t be bothered with paperwork.

How about AC/DC’s Back In Black for Kai?

Back in black, I hit the sack
I been too long, I’m glad to be back
Yes I’m let loose from the noose
    That’s kept me hangin’ about
I keep looking at the sky ’cause it’s getting me high
Forget the hearse cause I’ll never die
I got nine lives, cat’s eyes
Using every one of them and runnin’ wild

    ‘Cause I’m back
Yes I’m back, well I’m back
    Yes, I’m back
    Well I’m back…back
    Well I’m back in black
    Yes I’m back in black

” I Was Made For Lovin’ You ” and ” Prince of Darkness ” are good choices. As for Stanley, everything else pales in comparison to the immortal lines ” Stanley Tweedle is a god, a warrior, and a gent…”

Like the Frey, I too have been checking the heavens above for a squadron of flying donkeys migrating towards Halifax with a hogtied Michael McManus in tow. ๐Ÿ˜† Lovely person that Ms.Seeberg is, I cannot just take her word for it. I’ve been around long enough to have seen this type of rumor come to naught many times in the past.

*puts away her knife and pats LexxLurker on the head ๐Ÿ˜€ * I agree, the Divine Mr. McM is irreplacable. Anyone else playing Kai, or a movie without Kai would be a tremendous disappointment to me.

Quite frankly, unless Paul Donovan himself slides down my chimney on Christmas Eve and places a movie contract signed by the aforementioned Divinely Pouty One ( in triplicate ) under my Christmas tree, then I have to assume MM is finished with LEXX. In which case, Kai is finished, happily frolicking in the Dream Zone, never to be seen again anywhere but in my fevered nocturnal imaginings, and in reruns/DVD’s. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

As painful as this may be for some to hear, it bears repeating:

    LexxLurker wrote:

LEXX ended very well, very complete.

The fat lady, or phat assassin as the case may be, has already sung Vaiyo A-O. It was a good way to die. Most of Season 4 was cringe-inducing. The Beans and company were right to end it where they did, IMHO. To tack on a movie would feel contrived and would diminish the poignant ending they gave LEXX.

LexxLurker and aquabloodstone are right. We do deserve better than some half-hearted rehash. It’s not to say that it’s impossible for the Beans to come up with a wonderful LEXX movie script that includes Kai without using some assenine plot device like Kai being found in the shower after Stanley wakes up from a dream. It’s also not impossible that I could win the lottery and forward my winnings to MM’s bank account with the proviso that he appear in a LEXX movie. But I don’t see all these things coming together.

Not that I’m a Time Prophet or anything. I would be thrilled to bits to be completely and utterly wrong. ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m like Lizard when it comes to show endings; there are very few I can remember. I loved the Prisoner’s final two eps. Yes, the ending was ambiguous, but I didn’t expect anything less. Lexx’s ending was unforgettable, a total tear-jerker.

    YO WAY YO SPOILER

One would think the demise of a dead man wouldn’t inspire the kind of emotional response that it did. Granted, I’m a Kai slobberer, so it’s not a real surprise that Yo Way Yo was a several box of Kleenex event for me. But I’ve also heard non-droolers say what a moving event it was for them.

For me, it is one of Xenia Seeburg’s finest acting performances of the series. She breaks my heart with her rendition of the Brunnen G Anthem.

The worst? Gotta go with Voyager. Next Gen’s last ep blew chunks for the same reason, a ridiculously convoluted time travel storyline. Leave time travel storylines to Doctor Who. I’ll forgive Red Dwarf for the cliffhanger ending if they EVER put out the movie. ๐Ÿ™„

I think this has been mentioned before, but I think Rowan Atkinson would make a wonderful Number 2. He’s so engaging in the ” git ” roles. I have no doubt he has the range to play a serious role.

PMcG himself in the role would be awesome. I daresay he’d be the ultimate choice.

That’s one crazy sweet car! Drool… Wanted one of those for ages.

Hubby and I are both car enthusiasts. Much of our Prisoner discussion is drooling over that car. Hubby wants to build one. Maybe one day when we’ve gotten Project 72 Nova in hand.

Is it true that the Lotus tended to overheat? I thought I remember reading that somewhere as well as hearing Number 6 refer to it.

That brings me to my point. My favorite cars are not lovemobiles, grocery getters or anything of the practical like. Our Nova gets 10 miles to the gallon, can’t be driven on a rainy day, has no heat in the winter ( but plenty of heat if you drive more than 20 miles in the summer ) and yet we would not part with it for any amount of money.

I love to see hubby build a Lotus, lovemobile or no, as long as I get to drive it. And get to hang my fuzzy dice. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here’s my little Village Life Experience. I work in a factory and on the last day of the month, we label guitars with numbers to make it easier to know when we’ve hit goal. My neighboring co worker looked at his guitar and said ” I am the new Number 2.” I, of course had to ask, ” Who is Number 1? “. Unlike the Prisoner, it didn’t take me 17 episodes to find out who Number 1 was, and, no, it wasn’t me. He tells me ” You are Number 6. ” I pulled back the axesack on mine to discover that I actually had Number 6. I asked the guy on the other side of me what number guitar he had, and to my delight, he said in a loud voice, ” I am not a Number, I am a free man! “.

It’s always nice to know who your fellow Prisoners are. ๐Ÿ˜‰ My husband used to work there. He made his escape, or so he thinks, but before he did, he used to wear a Number 6 badge on either side of his headphones. ๐Ÿ˜€

There is of course that bit where No. 2 pauses thusly:

The Prisoner: “Who is Number 1?”
    No. 2: “You are … Number 6”

And then there’s the Prisoner’s address. In that opening sequence when the soon to be Prisoner visits his London pad I think you can vaguely see 1 written on his door. Actually, I only really noticed that near the end of Fall Out when the Butler is standing outside his door.

Both of those clues blew right past me. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

It’s a shame they don’t run Made in Canada more regularly in the States. But, hopefully, if the Canucks take over, this will change. And they’ll call it Made in Canada instead of The Industry. ๐Ÿ˜€

As far as MM goes, I can’t explain it, but I’ve always had a soft spot for stoic characters and the ” straight ” guy. I always loved Mr.Spock, Worf, and Data, too.

    Meeting famous people is actually not all that it’s cracked up to be….. most of the time you are herded like cattle in a line; pay to have something signed and may be a pic and that’s it;

So true, Mandara K, everything you said about famous people. I imagine some of them begin to believe their own press. I’ve never been to any conventions, but I don’t think I’d be willing to pay someone for their autograph. I know I joke quite a bit about my devotion to MM, but in all reality, I don’t think I’d want to fork out my hard earned cash for the opportunity to see him up close and walk away with his name scribbled on a piece of paper. ( No offense to those that do. )

I work for Paul Reed Smith Guitars, so I’ve met a few celebrities. In this setting, it’s quite different. We are accustomed to artists touring the factory, so they receive the same treatment you would if you toured the factory. I think they really enjoy being treated as what they are, normal people with high profile professions.

Some of the more famous ones were actually the most friendly and generous with their time. Carlos Santana is one of the nicest people you ever want to meet. He always has his picture taken with whoever asks ( I got a lovely pic of him him with his arm around me ), gives out hundreds of autographs ( at no charge ) and compliments everyone at the factory on their dedication to their craft. His last tour, he brought a videocamera because he’s impressed with what we do. He even had us all autograph his copy of the PRS coffee table book.

I can’t stand Creed’s music, but I like them very much as people. They are all extremely talkative and friendly. Each one made out autographs with kind messages for each employee, thanking us for making such beautiful guitars. Scott Stapp brought his camera so he could have his picture taken with each department.

Suprisingly enough considering Motley Crue’s reputation, I found Mick Mars to be quite a nice fellow, too.

You’re right, celebrities don’t deserve the treatment they receive, good and bad. Certainly, they shouldn’t expect to get into a packed restaurant by saying ” Don’t you know who I am? ” By the same token, they should be able to grocery shop without someone hounding them to discuss every movie they’ve made, either.

I’m the star of my backyard…. that’s all that matters to me.

Amen. We all count equally, no matter what we do or don’t do for a living. Personally, I think if we’re ever in the same place at the same time, MM should be glad to meet me. I’m a character in my own right. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜† Ask anybody that knows me.

I can see some of your points, Fatguy, but I still say your average American is helpless to effect change in a truly non-violent way. These enshrined rights that you speak of can be violated if the person who is being violated has no access to the media, or is too poor for representation. This has been going on long before the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

I don’t want to get into all the hairy details of it, but I have seen what can happen to personal rights through my own experience. The police have been violating the right to disclosure, search and seizure laws, and such back when those rights were still considered sacrosanct. They do it alot more frequently than you’d think.

Now, I’m not saying one shouldn’t fight these injustices. Indeed, I fought these things very publicly, and won, I might add. But not without great cost. And only because I had access to the media in a way alot of people don’t. Through the media, I was able to seek out those with the influence I needed to beat the man. More often than not, individuals don’t have these weapons in their arsenal.

I think it’s a sad state of affairs that other countries follow the U.S. example for policy making. It is true that the U.S. puts pressure on other governments to set policy in a fashion they find agreeable. If these nations are unable to take on the bully, how are individual Americans to do this? For as much as you are hoping American citizens will stand up to our government, we’re kinda hoping for other nations to band together and say, ” Hey, lets not let one nation try to set the agenda for the whole planet.”

I don’t see either happening any time soon. I hate to say it, but the only way the U.S. will stop being such an overbearing influence is when GW crashes the economy in this country, or he does something so reprehensible that people rise up in revolt.

I am replying “off-the-cuff” and not my usual motivated self (so my arguments are vulnerable) as the freedom issue is getting old with me and I would like to pass the torch to the younger folk (I am waiting…..). Talk to me about new ways of thinking – that is where my mind is at now…..

I feel exactly the same way. I fought back when I was 20. I have had life thoroughly stomp the sh@t out of me in the 10 years since, so I’d rather leave this to someone younger and more idealistic. I have no solutions.

I almost fell in the floor when I saw the commercial for Johnny English. Apparently, someone else thought Rowan as a British super spy would be hilarious, too. Or Logan won the lottery and decided to finance this project instead of the ” Portmarionation ” project. ๐Ÿ˜› Feel free to lob the rotten tomatoes for that unforgivable joke. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I am ready and willing, and indeed would be honored if a lowly American such as myself would be selected as the propaganda minister for the U.S. end of the Canadian Campaign for World Domination.

I am already working toward this goal in an unofficial capacity. I only serve Canadian beer at parties. I have spread the joy of Moosehead consumption far and wide. I have erected a shrine to the glorious musical perfection that is Rush. Geddy Lee is my God. And soon he will be everyone else’s.

If selected for service, I will immediately build the Maryland Annex of Possum Lodge, eh. Complete with an indoor hockey rink, so I can ” keep my stick on the ice. ”

Might I suggest an army of Michael McManus and Rick Mercer clones would secure the loyalty of the American women? Perhaps Pamela Anderson clones for the men?

Let me say in closing that for doughnut privledges, a continual loop of Rush songs on state radio, government Moosehead rations, and my hometown streets being overrun with Michael McManus and Rick Mercer clones, I’ll gladly tatoo a Maple leaf on my butt, or do whatever it takes to secure the position, eh.

Note my usage of ” eh ” far exceeds the governmental requirement of every 10 sentences. I’m telling you, I’d be the perfect honorary Canuck. ๐Ÿ˜€

Am I the only one who sees the Fourth of July as an excuse to eat potato salad and hot dogs and get drunk? For me, it means nothing more than a day off with pay.

Instead – I would just like to say that these times are critical for Americans if they are to keep their freedoms and rights as enshrined in their constitution

I don’t wish to get into a long dissertation on the state of freedom in the U.S. I only wish to ask how exactly I am to accomplish the aforementioned feat of keeping my constitutional rights enshrined. When my elected (?) leader chooses to ignore the will of the people and wage war, what exactly am I to do about that? Don’t tell me that the Congress is supposed to keep a leash on him, because we all know there are ways around the system of checks and balances. Does the expression ” police action ” mean anything to anyone?

We also know that the political ideas that a candidate espouses are up for sale as soon as that candidate gets into office. We also know ( I don’t think I need to cite examples to support this ) that removal of an elected official is a tedious process that takes so long the officials term of office will be up and the damage done before he can be removed.

Americans are not unaware of the fact that our so called freedom is eroding daily. My question to you is this: If you lived in the States, what would you do to change the system? Lead a charge up Capitol Hill carrying a musket? I know you’d say work through the system, but believe me, I’ve had my experience in the American justice system, and it will open your eyes to what it’s all about. If you have a cause worth fighting for, you’d better hope someone with money or influence has an agenda that mates to yours easily. Otherwise you are SOL.

But don’t feel badly, Fatguy, there are many between these borders that suffer under the misapprehension that their voice is heard, too.

However – if you are an American; remember that so goes the rights of Americans…..so go the rights of the rest of the world – true….. Happy Birthday America!!!!!

I’m afraid you’ll have to explain that one to me, too. Did the US Supreme court suddenly start reviewing foreign law? What exactly do we Americans have to do with the constitutional rights of citizens of other nations?

I don’t mean to sound apathetic. There are undoubtedly times when U.S. intervention has been a necessary thing where human rights are concerned. However, we’re not the only nation who has defended the human rights of others. We did not win WWII single handedly, now did we? We are far from the only voices on the subject of freedom. We are not the only democracy on the planet.

I guess George Bush isn’t the only one that thinks the U.S. is the center of the Universe, the big Daddy protector of the world at large. Me, I’d love to help defend freedom everywhere, but first I have to figure out a way for my husband to find a job in the midst of a crashing economy caused by Bush’s insistence on playing hall monitor for the entire world.

I’m not saying I have a better idea, but kicking a Divine Assassin in possibly the most heavily armored portion of his anatomy seems like a bit of a fool’s errand.

The “look behind you” gambit seems far more plausible. Bravo for giving it some additional thought, and for replying in a Lexx like fashion.

O.K. it’s brutal honesty time. Dude, you are a hair’s breadth away from getting banned here. The mods are being extremely tolerant, though I’m sure you don’t see it that way. When they see the occasional spark of hope, like you just displayed with your last inventive post, they try to cut you some slack. But they won’t tolerate rude behavior forever.

So here’s the deal. Nursewhen and I would like to help you out, if you’re game. I know you’re probably saying to yourself, ” Yeah, right.” but hear me out. Our guess is you’re very young, and you could use the guidance of a couple of seasoned smart-alecks to see you through your formative stages.

As you may have noticed, Nursey and I are both smart-arses, and we love to roleplay, as you do. The difference is we’ve learned how to do it without offending everyone and getting banned. Sure, there are always going to be some people you offend with your humor, but if you do it right, the majority will laugh, and you won’t get banned.

Nursewhen is a very polite person. You could learn a great deal about how to respectfully disagree with another person from her. Or how to use humor to make your point. She is a master of the witty comeback. Indeed, you must be learning something, because I found the thought of Kai going, ” Where did they go, George? ” very funny. After all, Kai does say the Dead are easily fooled. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Which brings me to my part in your poster re-education program. I intend to a) school you in the joys of discussing Lexx b) teach you how to insult Kai properly.

    a) The joys of the discussion of Lexx. After dealing with you on two different boards, I do finally believe you watch Lexx. This is very crucial to being able to subtly work your devotion to Xenia into a conversation. Every Lexxian expects threads to dissolve into drools at times. I am likely to be the Lexxian most guilty of doing this. You will note others can even anticipate the point at which I’ll likely show up to turn a thread into a Kai drool. I believe I am tolerated because a) Lexxians are a very open-minded, forgiving bunch b) I do try to let others have a serious conversation before I hijack their thread c) I do try to participate in a serious manner…occasionally. Long story short, start off with discussing plot points and characters, then move on to pouty lips and nice butts.

    b) The proper Kai mocking technique. First of all, this part of the lesson will have homework, but don’t worry, it’s just reading. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    http://www.thefrey.com

This is Hanging with Michael McManus and the Frey, the home of the Kai Komic Kaptions Kontest, your Bible for mocking Kai. You might be surprised to find as you peruse it’s pages that a LOT of the submissions are from none other than Kai droolers themselves. Kai droolers do have a sense of humor ( most of them, anyway ). They won’t take offense if you make fun in a not so mean spirited way. Or in a little more refined way. Kicking someone in the crotch is the kind of humor that only a Matt Groening of the Simpsons can pull off effectively.

Kai is a wealth of comedic material. But I would suggest starting off slow. Learn when to interject The Dead Do Not references. Those are non-offensive, and if they bomb, the worst you get is a groan.

Next, we move on to The Bun. This can be comedy gold if you use it right. Definitely refer to the Frey’s site before you attempt this. The key is to be sure to insult the wig, not Kai’s masculinity. I can’t stress this heavily enough. You can call it roadkill, you can call it a rabid weasel, just don’t call it gay. This is an advanced maneuver, and usually only Kai droolers can get away with it. Plus, the joke is usually a little more involved than just saying, ” Man, that wig’s really gay! ”

I would say the black hook rug get up is probably a safer step for you than the wig. The Live Kai get up will be last semester work, so put it out your mind for now. Ditto for the codpiece. It’s going to be your final exam. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next lesson: How to maintain an online persona with out becoming bi-polar, and how to defend your favorite character without getting yourself banned.

Its a great big White world

Are we envisioning a world run by Bing Crosby?

*Dudelove sings I’m dreaming of a Great Big White World*

Or is it a “Great White” World?
Or are we referring to a world run by hair metal bands?

I am so confused. ๐Ÿ™„ NOT!

He wears a “bionic” cup, known to us Lexx fans as a codpiece. You’d need a blow torch or a crowbar to kick him in the nads. And if you did manage that one, he’d be non-functional as soon as you removed it, so he wouldn’t feel it anyway. That, and if you could remove his codpiece, you’d have to kick Xev out your way before you could kick him. ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
