Mrs Tigh or Tom Zarek.
It certainly appears that Ellen Tigh is a cylon, or at least equally as dangerous.
Zarek on the other hand… I doubt it. He’s been in prison for the last 20 years. Prior to that he was a dangerous and very well known (popular/infamous) terrorist. The doesn’t match the typical cylon agent, who likes to try to stay hidden.

Speak for yourself, I’ve practically been crawling out of my skin. At least my DVD of the mini came a few days ago so I could watch that, listen tot he commentary and hold myself over until tomorrow night.
whats far more shocking is the fact that we have only 4 eps left and then we will have to wait 7 months (!) for Season 2!
Or longer. Who knows what kinds of twisted schedule Sci Fi Channel or Sky One will come up with. It looks good for a second season though. Sci Fi ordered 6 new scripts before it even aired here in the states.
Any advice on how to endure that is really appreciated.
Let’s worry about that in a few weeks…HeadgehogParticipantI know, I’m late again this year.
Happy holidays everyone, whatever your end-of-year religious and/or secular preferences may be.
Here’s some more for your list Logan:

I do use your ftp and control panel passwords. Routinely.
Since all these problems have something to do with the downlaods section. Could we remove that function from the site, WITHOUT DELETING ANY OF THE PICTURE FILES IN THAT DIRECTORY? Almost all of my reviews call picures stored in those directories. Somewhere around 200 reviews. It’d be too much effort to have to fix all that. It pains me to ask to do this, expecially since I’m so reliant on myegallery for review pictures. But since it seems that the problem lies within that module, it might have to be done.
HeadgehogParticipant
I think what Baltar said was “No muss, no fuss.”
Which makes a lot more sense. My copy burped during that line, so I had to ask someone else and that’s what we guessed. I’ll make the correction in the review.
Actually, Earth was mentioned only the week before in “Flesh and Bone” when Leoben told Starbuck that they would find Kobol and that it would lead them to Earth.
Uhh right, I knew that… honest… 😳 I guess that’s one of those things that I knew, but forgot about. When I was writing the review, that side comment was directed toward “human” characters. Still eight or nine episodes is a lot before they remembered to bring up the “series arc”.
Good review, great episode! See you in January!
Thanks. And thank-you also for your input and corrections!
HeadgehogParticipantIt only makes sense that the author would denounce the miniseires after it aired. It was pretty awful. On a sadgeezer.com scale, it gets a 00,003 out of 10. The supporting characters were reading their lines, the plot set up was hackneyed and predicatble, and so much of the story was derivative of other recent movies. It MIGHT have been original at the time of hte writing, but not in 2004. The plot ran like every other crap Sci Fi Channer MOW, with the same poor direction and special effects budget. I’m embarrrased to say that I watched both parts, and considered (a few months ago) to make a section on the site for it.
Oh, and the Sci Fi Channel preview of its 2005 programming lineup, was pretty lame when compared with what it did for Taken, BSG and CoD.
HeadgehogParticipant
Just taking out their televisions should be enough :P
Now that’s just downright evil. But at least you’ll leave the computer alone.
HeadgehogParticipant
I’d be wondering why someone who has 2 lines a week suddenly becomes a main character.
So that’s what they’re building up to with Apollo?
HeadgehogParticipant
I’d say it’s more likely to be the Presidents aid or his new girlfriend (I don’t remember either of the characters names).
Billy is the President’s aid, and Duella is his gf.
I agree, none of the regulars are cylons. Nor should they be. We have Boomer, which is enough already. Any more important people as sleeper agents would be too contrived. The seires would turn into Alias, which always throws in some completely baseless plot twist, such as a sleeper agent for the enemy, just to advance a plot. BSG would lose a lot of credability if it did that on a bi-weekly basis.
HeadgehogParticipantI really enjoyed the episode. It wasn’t as funny as Six Degrees, but it had much more rewatchabilty. The direction was great, and the “family” fight scenes were terrific. It was nice to see that Baltar (Callis) didn’t steal the show this week. Not that it’s normally a problem per se, but the series can’t rely on one character.
It must just be me, but I didn’t think Baltar with his pants down was that funny. It was slightly awkward at best.
Ellen Tigh was a real surprise. I’m so used to finding strong women in SciFi today that I didn’t expect Ellen to be a total bimbo. She will be a reoccurring character, but probably with no larger a role then the other supporting characters. Ellen was funny, if not slightly annoying at times. But it really did show a lot of background for Col Tigh. Speaking of which, when did his first name change from Paul to Saul? It was promoted as Paul for the mini… oh well.
The Caprica scenes are starting to get a little old. We see a 4 minute episode every week, and not much seems to change. This week was slightly better, since some action started. The cylons really really want Sharon and Helo dead. Even though it appears that they are all jealous that she has serious emotions.
re: Caprica, I think I might splice together all the Caprica scenes at the end of the season, to create a normal 44 minute episode. It might be easier to watch then.
It was interesting to find out that it appears that Lieutenant Gaeta is the 3rd person in the line of command. Or was it because Apollo was out on patrol at the time?
The chain of command gets fuzzy with lots of horizontal and diagonal dotted lines below Col Tigh. Apollo, the Doctor (and a Captain we haven’t seen since the mini) have rank on Gaeta. But it appears that Gaeta, as tactical officer, is third in line for ship operations. In Water, we saw him as the officer of the watch, so he clearly has authority on the ship. Considering that we haven’t seen many other officers, my guess is that if Adama and Tigh cannot command, he will have to. Maybe Apollo will, but as CAG, I don’t know how he fits into the overall ship command structure. Apollo might be too busy with fighter operations, since Starbuck doesn’t want the job of CAG. Either way, Gaeta’s a senior officer.
I’m not even going comment on Baltar and the cylon detector here. Its too big a discussion. I’ll have to start a new thread.
I’ll have the review up by Friday, hopefully. This is going to be another one of those long reviews, with lots of side comments.
HeadgehogParticipantWell he’s not a cylon in the technical sense. Someone with as much power and control in the fleet such as him, Tigh or Gaeta would have already destroyed humanity by now. Unless of course the cylons want some of humanity to survive in some sort of Darwinist experiment.
Adama, whom IMHO, is becoming something of a despot. There really isn’t anyone to check his authority. He’s already wasted valuable resources on personal matters, and in this last episode, jeopardized the fleet by leaving the Galactica and not leaving a flight plan. And just to really drive the stake through his heart, I haven’t seen Adama do anything militaristically clever. In fact I think he’s been quite naive in the series. It took him 237 jumps before he tired to sepearate the fleet in the pilot episode. How he made it to Commander, I’ll never know.
HeadgehogParticipant
His previous work on the Hornblower series did not display the annoyance factor that the original Apollo actor use to sprinkle in every performance, so perhaps there is hope for this show.
I don’t think it really mattered who was cast as Apollo. It seems with every episode that that character has seen ever decreasing screen time!
HeadgehogParticipantHere’s the quick answer.
Nuclear weapons aren’t nearly as strong as people believe. Obviously the area immediately around the explosion will be vaporized, but everything else will just suffer radiation and massive concussive wind damage. Remember that the Galactica survived a direct hit from a nuke.
Most of the damage from a nuke comes from the large shockwave of air it produces. The bombs generates a lot of heat, which causes the air to expand rapidly. This rapid expansion is what causes most of the damage, so its recommended to detonate a nuke above a city, where it will generate the largest shock wave. Detonating above the city will also resulting a larger does of radiation for a larger area.
The reason the Japanese atomic bombing were so devastating is because the Japanese built their structures out of paper and wood (so that they’d be easy to rebuild after and earthquake or volcano). If the bombs were dropped over a western city, ex: Berlin, the damage would have mostly been a human one (and broken windows, tossed cars). Caprica City is constructed like a western one (a lot like Vancouver 😉 ) So the Cylons would have had to detonate a large thermo-nuke on every street corner to level the city.
There should be a LOT more broken glass, and fire damage, but maybe the Twelve Colonies have better material science knowledge then we do.
HeadgehogParticipant
I’m getting an error message :(
groan. It’s been fixed… again.
I’ve added over a hundred promotional pictures to the downloads section. So now it shouldn’t look as pitiful, with just 1 or two per character gallery.
HeadgehogParticipant
Did anybody find it kind of weird that in the restroom scene it seemed like Gaeta was just sitting on the can with his pants up? Was an amusing scene though…. “wait…you forgot to wash your hands”…”no more mr. nice Gaius”…lol.
I think the entire scene was awkward.
1) Gaeta didn’t drop his pants, and Shelly did raise her dress. I guess in the future: toilets automatically quantum transport waste out of ones bowels and into the plumbing system. No more having to wipe down the toilet seat!
2) The toilet stalls had to be the thinnest ever produced in human history, this must have something to do with the quantum crap teleportation system.Anyone else notice Gaeta whistling the theme to the original Galactica?
a form of hologram projection?
Aside from the quantum toilets, they’ve been pretty good at maintaining realism. Holograms are not solid, period. I hope that they will explain what happened to Shelly Godfrey. To quote Adama, “She didn’t just vanish!”.
You think there are “gay Cylon models”???…lol..j/k (my poor attempt at humor)
So I’m not the only one who got that vibe?I’m not happy about the direction, or lack there of, of Gaeta. Of all the supporting cast members, he’s had the least amount of character development. And more to the point, he’s a horribly flat character. Gaeta doesn’t even have a first name. If you work on the show, and know it, please tell! He’s seen more screen time then Duella, Billy, Cally, Tom Zarek and Hadrian combined, but he has yet to show any emotion or humanity. Unless TPTBs have something special in mind, there’s no excuse for that.
If he were a Cylon, it’d be a major cop out. For the simple reason that he’s so mechanical to begin with, it’s almost obvious. The writers can show more imagination then that.
Viewing the episode again, Baltar is not all that cracked up as an artificial intelligence expert/scientist/programmer. He can’t even manipulate/crack that computer terminal in the lab or even pull out the power cord.
I was thinking the same thing last night when I watched this episode. Nobel prize in computer science my ass… This is my standard excuse, but I’ll give them artistic lisense. It’s funnier that he couldn’t wipe out the image. And it really just showed his desperation. At the end, he tried to wiggle in front of the monitor with his picture, even though Adama et al already saw it.
Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn’t work either?…lol…j/k
Its not like it works all the time on today’s computers either…
BTW, since Baltar seems to get off all the time with “6”, wouldn’t he have to change his pants/underwear often?
Good question!
Six without makeup was almost as chilling.
She tried to pull off the geek-girl, and failed miserably. I’m not sure if this was bad acting, poor direction, or poor makeup. If it was all part of #6’s plan to poorly act out Shelly, to arouse enough suspicion so that they’d double check the footage, then its only poor direction. Personally, I’d have to go with bad acting, but I’m not a very good judge of these things.HeadgehogParticipantI just finished watching it a second time. This episode kicked ass! This was certainly one of the more wry episodes I’ve seen so far. And personally I’d like to see more episodes like this, although I would like the series to remain dark.
Shelly Godfrey? That should have been a give-away that she was a cylon. What human mother would name her daughter Shelly Godfrey?
The religion aspect of the episode, didn’t annoy me so much as before, probably because of how it was presented. There was enough material for both a born-again and a hard-core agnostic to both declare victory here. Did Baltar really accept god into his life, or is it just for show? My guess is that he’s back to his atheist ways. He’ll be sure to pay lipservice to god in front of #6 just in case.
If he really did accept god, and choose to be an instrument of his will, and since the cylon god is singular, whereas the colonial gods are a pantheon, does that mean he’s now a tool for the cylons?
Will Starbuck keep good on her promise and kick the crap outta the doctor and Apollo?
Does Roslin trust Baltar?
My guess is no. She probably just apologized for the camera’s, and still rightfully has her doubts about him.Anybody else have some points they want to bring up?
Expect the review in a few days, this is going to be a tough one to write.
So we know that there are twelve Cylon models, but was that twelve human-type models, or just generally?
I think they are referring to the human-type cylons. Which would leave us with eight unknowns.
And why not send a complete unknown to blow up Galactica, instead of the one guy who is likely to be recognised?
Poetic justice? If they revealed the other eight cylons to the audience, then there wouldn’t be any suspense or drama for us. It would ultimately put a damper on the show.
Also by showing all 12 models immediately, they limit themselves when it comes to casting later on in the series.
Why aren’t they doing more damage?
They have been! Remember that only 17 days have past so far. At least 5.5 of those days were spent running from the cylons because of one or more cylon agents aboard the Olympic Carrier.A few days after that, Boomer takes out the fleets water supply. And almost blows herself up when she finds more water a day later. A week after that, Doral blows himself up, while presumably trying to destroy the cylon detector. This averages out to one attack every few days. Which is a lot considering their limited numbers.
Furthermore, if they all attacked at once, and the humans gain control of the situation, they wouldn’t have any opportunity to further weaken/destroy the fleet. And as mentioned earlier, it would kill future plotlines.
HeadgehogParticipant
Regarding the use of the word unwrap during the water episode, the actual term is UNREP (i’m guessing that the way it was pronounced on the show, it sounded like unwrap). UNREP stands for Underway Replenishment. I only know this because I worked on the show.
Cool, thanks for the clarification.
HeadgehogParticipantI’m not so sure about all this talk of succession, and joining Canada. I personally like being part of the US, even though I don’t trust the current regime. And seriously folks, Canada?! Come on.
We shouldn’t be talking about leaving the union, we should talk about kicking out the red states. Let them have their Confederate States of America. They wanted to leave 160 years ago, and we should have let them. They wanted to keep slaves, and for some unknown reason we went to war to keep those morons in OUR country? Those are the kinds of people we wanted in our union?
HeadgehogParticipant
In fact,I can do the subtitles all by myself only depending on my listening comprehesition. But most of times a single word bothers me.Like in “Water”[DUELLA: Sir, the Virgon Express is maneuvering along side. They’re standing by for unwrap],I don’t know UNWRAP,so……:(
Well,thank you again!
Normally unwrap means, to remove the covering of an object. ex: “John unwrapped his birthday present”
However, in this case, “unwrap” is being used as military jargon. Its definition here is “to receive”. ex: the Virgon Express is standing by to receive water rations.I’d be happy to help you with other English/American idioms and jargon, to translate the transcripts. Give me an email at headgehog@sadgeezer.com , to discuss this further.
HeadgehogParticipantI can’t help but feel that this way something of a sleep episode. It was good, but I found my attention wandering through most of it. It wasn’t until the last few minuets with the space battle did it really grab my attention.
Oh, and there wasn’t nearly enough Baltar and #6 in this one. Their dialouge really helped out previous episodes.
Unanswered questions (in the best Lurkers Guide tradition)
I’ll be coincidentally covering some of these in the “dissecting the episode” part of the review. Which will be along in a few days. Sorry but my lack of excitement of this episode is causing me to procrastinate But I’ll cover a few interesting points here.
– Why was an armed munition being moved round the flight bay? Surley they have safeties?
– Why aren’t there more bodies in the Caprican city? Have the Cylons tidied up after their genocide?
The moving ammunition was a nice plot device. And the lack of bodies, while creepy, is better then thousands of decaying corpses. I got to admit though, that the city is way too clean. The cylons (or directors/producers) must’ve done something.
– Does the Galactica know Starbuck has ejected? Her beacon failed before she got clipped by the Cylon fighter so they might assume her ship had been shot down.
– What happened to the Cylon fighter she shot down. Did it burn up too?
We’ll likely find out next week. But I’m going to say that the cylon pilot survives the crash too, and Starbuck captures him/her/it. I’m sure she’ll find a way to contact the Galactica, or they look for her and find her.
– What planet did both the Viper and the Cylon fighter crash on to? Is it the same planet that the fleet are sourcing water from?
No, they’re getting the water out of a moon, of a different coloured planet.
– What was Starbuck doing assessing Zak if she was about to get engaged to him? Conflict of interest anyone?
It would be a huge conflict of interest, but we can infer that they tried to hide their relationship, and as I mentioned before, its a good plot device. It won’t be that last either, I fear.

Glad you like the site.I will be adding transcripts for all the BSG episodes, but unfortunatly not in the near future. I have to wait until the episodes air in the US, before I can do a “closed captions capture”, or have the computer write out the subtitles for me. Sorry but it’ll take way too long for me to make transcripts manually. Starting in January, when I get the ccc I’ll upload the transcripts.
You might also try galactica.tv, which is a huge resource for everything realted to the new series. But I don’t think they’ll be adding transcripts.
HeadgehogParticipantCool article.
It’s funny because I’ve actually been looking into Australia’s immigrations policies. It’s warmer then Canada. Anybody know what the cost of living is like down there?
HeadgehogParticipantLot’s of good points.
The Colonials should have desalination abilities and salt can be used in a variety of ways. So salt water isn’t really a bad thing when you don’t have any resources and many sea going warships today desalinate salt water. BUT since it’s implied they don’t have the capabilities, melting ice is their only option.
It’s very surprising, that the Galactica doesn’t have desalinization abilities. Especially since its water recycling system should be able to remove salts anyway. And even more so, since jury-rigging a stil isn’t very difficult. I’ll just give them poetic justice, and acknowledge this contrivance as a plot device.
If I was Adama, I would only give Baltar just enough Plutonium for his “Cylon Detector”. Giving Baltar a complete nuclear warhead, considering his erratic behaviour, could be a recipe for disaster.
That would be a good idea. But once Baltar alters the geometry (removes part of it) of the plutonium fuel of the weapon, it’s useless as a weapon. So he might as well give him all the material. Besides, Baltar is “working” under the strict supervision of Lt Gaeta.
The Helo arc seems to be a bit off. Why would you yell loudly or shoot your gun needlessly when you know there is a Cylon presence on the planet? Or even stroll out in the open for that matter?
Insanity, radiation sickness…
What happened to all the other people that were left behind with Helo? You would think many would stick with Helo instead of blindly running around.
Good question.
There is even a possibility of repairing the defence systems and just set it on automatic to destroy any current and future Cylon basestars in orbit and any reinforcements from landing. Most defensive and offensive systems are heavily protected against a first strike and many should have survived the initial attack. Could even plant a few nukes as booby traps or for remote detonation. Many have complained about the apparent lack of building damage from all the nukes. But if the Cylons used Neutron bombs over the cities, then you wouldn’t see a lot of damage. Although there will be an explosion, the radiation over a wide area is what you want rather than a concentrated blast. But that begs the question of why the Cylons want the cities intact?
We never actually saw any basestars attacking the colonies, and the news report in the mini, said that they haven’t seen any enemy forces yet (shortly before they were nuked). Perhaps the nukes dropped were from the defence grid itself. We already know that the Cylon’s hacked the system, why not use it against the humans too.
Nukes aren’t as powerful as people think, the won’t make an entire city a creator, nor level it. The Japan atomic bombings are a misconception. The damage wouldn’t have been so bad there, if most of their building weren’t made out of paper and light wood.
Good observation about the Neutron bombs, those would cause a LOT of lingering radiation, and leave most of the infrastructure in place, not that the Cylons have much of a need for the human ghost towns anyway. Maybe they want the cities as a monument to their creators. Or perhaps as a place for later generations of biocylons to inhabit.

That’s becuase most of us are still either in the denile or severe depression stages.HeadgehogParticipant#6 reminds of me that pyscho-stalker ex-girlfriend type. She was dumped/betrayed or what have and has become obsessed with getting him back. #6 uses the backdrop of religion and god to get Baltar to seek redemption of his “sins”. As a godfreak herself, she believes that god offers forgiveness, and if god forgives him for his transgressions, then she too can forgive his adultery. Additionally as the missionary, she is his conduit to god, further making him reliant on her.
What does #6 see in him? Really good sex I guess. She does say that she likes him because he’s a survivor. The point of evolution and selective breeding is to promote a valuable survival trait into the species. His intelligence, and strong will to live at any cost, must be a very attractive trait, one that she wants to continue in the “new chosen race of god”. But then again, she could just think he’s smart, attractive and a good lay.
HeadgehogParticipantWell, it was another close call, but were going to make it this month. Despite the 10k veiws/day and the >1.6 GB/day average, we will end the month using only 46/49 GB. The bad news? They’re rushing the “Boomer” plotline
I would have expected them to draw out the “is she, or isn’t she a cylon” thing for a while. Of course it really looked like she was, but for the sake of drama…
But this isn’t a spoiler thread! So more later hehe.
Yes it is, check the title.I should have the review up either tonight or tomorrow night.
HeadgehogParticipantIt would be misleading to say that this wasn’t as good as last week’s episode, but it wasn’t. Overall I’d give it a B+, but it was still of very high quality (unlike the copy I downloaded last night).
Water wasn’t a filler episode, as it plays a large role in the what I’m guessing to be the overall arc. But it doesn’t have a very worthy plot by itself, so its not the kind of episode that can be watched repeatedly for entertainment. Instead Water, serves the overall plot. It reminds me of a couple other Space Opera’s (Crusade and Firefly), whose individual episodes weren’t the best, but the series was greater then the sum of its parts.
This was a Boomer heavy episode. It’s certain now that she is a Cylon. But it looks like she can fight her programming, to help out the humans. Will she become the first (or perhaps second?) Cylon defector?
I still don’t know what going on with the Boomer-Helo mini-arc. Do the cylons plan to use Helo to track down the fleet, or perhaps other survivors?
It was good to finally learn that Baltar never did have a means of detecting the Cylons. He must’ve been really “lucky” in the mini to have serendipitously chosen a real biocylon as his fall guy.
I’ve been tinkering with making a BSG forum. I just don’t know how often it will be used. How many other people want an exclusive BSG forum?
HeadgehogParticipantWell I figured it about time I made a post here. Unlike everyone else who posted in this thread, my vote counts. Yes that’s right, I’m in one of those all important swing states, Pennsylvania.
I’d like to have the “luxury” of throwing away my vote in this election, and send a message to the Democratic Party that I didn’t like the choice the state of Iowa choose for me. But instead I have to perform a civic duty and vote for “the other guy” (or in this election “Not Bush”) just like so many citizens have been doing for years before me. I’ve only voted four times so far, and only once did I vote for a candidate because I really wanted the person in office.
I sent my message back in April, when I voted for Dean in the primary, even thought the nomination was decided before it got to my commonwealth (state). I can’t do that now, because its too important not too. And unlike the folks in more influential states like Texas and California, my vote matters. I learned that lesson in my first election in 2000 when I was one of the 366 people that gave New Mexico’s 5 electoral votes to Gore. And this time around, I’m going to help make sure Pennsylvania’s 21 votes go to Kerry.
HeadgehogParticipantOops, forgot to deactivate those picture links. Thanks for the heads up.
HeadgehogParticipantI’m with Logan on this one, where’s hynotoad? Sure his show has gone downhill recently, but I still have this strong compulsion to vote for him…
Oh well, I voted for Bender. More booze for all!
HeadgehogParticipantBelieve it or not, I almost forgot about it! Almost…
Just a reminder that ‘Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars’ will premiere in the States this weekend…and on Internet connections soon thereafter
LOL, it certainly will. But a lot of programs will have that happen to them, nowadays. Not that I would ever engage in such devious behaviour. 😈 Seriously folks, just remember to watch it when it aires in your respective country, even if you first saw it some other way. We do want to keep good TV scifi alive right?
In an “unrelated” story, the new Battlestar Galactica series will premier on Monday in the UK. And two sadgeezers in the US, should have the episode review done soon thereafter. 😆HeadgehogParticipant
It took many blaster hits to get this here. Yeesh, talk about Cylons vs. Colonials…. try BSG TOS fans vs. TNS series fans. They get down right nasty!
The in-fighting was so harsh, it forced scifi.com to moderate that bboard! Which indirectly or perhaps coincidentally caused them to install a new bbs.
I know you are busy Sad, with the ep reviews on Lexx 4 (yahoo!)
and Dza Dza, but I trust your judgement on this kind of thing. And
…
and this site is known for a lot of great sci-fi mainstream and not…
…
but if you can tame the beast long enough I’d like to get your take on it.
Well there is the Sadgeezer’s Guide to Battlestar Galactica, a 10 month old guide devoted to the new mini-series and the upcoming weekly series. (I really do need to update the episodes list soon!) Saddy didn’t write it, LexxLurker and I did, and plan on continuing the guide if that helps. We hope to finish up the reviews for the first season before Sci Fi Channel airs it in the states. It kicks ass being an international site huh?
I’m really excited about it, because if the miniseries was any indication, its a well needed serious and entertaining space opera. Something that’s been sorely lacking in recent years.
As for the lack of promotion. I’ve seen Sci Fi give it some commercials. You can probably bet they’ll be advertising the hell outta it come December and January as the premier approaches! Just like they do for every other new programme or miniseries.
3rd October 2004 at 6:37 am in reply to: Review: Dutch Treat posted in the LEXX Reviews section #72938HeadgehogParticipantI actually did a double take when I saw this in the new posts box! Good to see you’ve gotten back into the reviews writing spirit. Cool review.
As for President Priest, I think that he made a good parody of Dubya. Remember that this episode was written before 9/11 when the president was behaving (even more) like an incompetent dofus. It’s difficult to see today, since the public perception of his inability to lead, has shifted toward his other failures.
Besides Priest was sort of a dim-witted yes-man back on Fire, why should that have changed?HeadgehogParticipant
the space in my Profile for Avator says something like
“see Forum_Profile for admin”Any ideas?
I went into the controls to check your profile. You should be able to display an avatar without any issues. Try it again, if there is still a problem; send me a link/address (via PM or email) to the avatar you want, and I’ll “force” it.HeadgehogParticipant
At least one of the others should be you?
THe blueyonder ones look like Sad, which doesn’t make sense as he shouldn’t have been here the day that was most active?
The comcast.net is mine. Either that or somebody else in my area has ftp access.
I would think the pres.blueyonder are Sad’s. I’m also going to guess that “pres” is Preston. Just like pawayne for me is Wayne, PA.
Is this list for one day, or for the month to date. If its just for the peak date, then that would be very curious. Otherwise is makes perfect sense that our webmaster would have had a lot of ftp access this month.
HeadgehogParticipantI don’t mean for this to come off as overtly cynical; but why are you bringing this up now? I thought we buried this anxiety attack 3 months ago!
At the time of this writing, there is only ONE member with a permanent ban: Maya. She’s publicly proclaimed that she doesn’t want to come back here (again!). Likewise she has shown that she doesn’t deserve the rite to post either. Maya’s ban is a moot point.
The only other outstanding ban is Fatguy. I never specified how long that ban is for, however it was not intended to be “permanent”. And before anyone says anything, I’m positive that I didn’t! I made sure not to comment on his ban beyond what I wrote to him publicly on the SadBoard.
For the record I banned him for hypocrisy. I was annoyed by his perpetual double standards. All this came to a head when he discovered that his Iraqi Prisoner thread was deleted and publicly complained about it. The ironic part being that he had already censored everything he wrote in that thread himself!
I have no plans to lift his ban. I however will not re-enter his information should the database become corrupted again, and the ban information is lost. I’ll let the internet gods determine when that will occur.
With that said, I am open to the possibility of granting a reprieve, but only for many DAMN GOOD reasons. And even then only if he’ll stop disturbing unrelated threads with his personal politics.
As for the slow board, its just that time of year. As Saddy has pointed out, there’s no good scifi on TV today. We’ll luckily have Battlestar Galactica and Farscape in a month. Beyond that, not much. Things should pick up later this year, when there is more talk about sci-fi. They always have.
HeadgehogParticipantHave a safe trip! Take is easy on the vodka over there 😉
Sorry I need to respond to post a lot sooner and more oftenIs he gone now? Alright, who’s up for changing this into home decoration web site? How about changing the colour scheme to aqua and orange?
17th September 2004 at 2:23 am in reply to: Something Fun for Mr. Pet and the Outsourced Techs #72863HeadgehogParticipantI went to the site, but they didn’t have any information on outsourced engineering jobs. I know it’s designed around blue collar jobs, but I’m still nervous about getting outsourced a year after I graduate. 😥 And just need a little statically evidence one way or another to calm some worries.
HeadgehogParticipantEasily, the fourth season. It had terrific episodes like Farnsworth Parabox, A Taste of Freedom, The Why of Fry, 300 Big Boys and Spanish Fry.
Then there where the not-so-funny but excellent tear jerkers of Jurassic Bark, The Sting, and The Devil’s Hand are Idle Playthings.
Earlier seasons, didn’t have such a high concentration of good episodes.
HeadgehogParticipantHypnotoad?
That show went downhill last season!
HeadgehogParticipantHa! Beat you both: 47.53452% Super Geek. Now if this a good thing is another matter.
Must’ve gotten bonue points for being able to honestly say that I’ve designed and built a nuclear device 8)
HeadgehogParticipantHas anyone heard anything lately? In this case I believe that no news is BAD news. I mean we should have heard something a few months ago right?
